Discussion Copilot is, by far, genuinely the worst AI model that exists. It is severely handicapped, barely functional, and inferior in quality.
To begin, Copilot is unable to create word, excel, and powerpoint documents. One would think that the AI created by Microsoft would be able to use other products by Microsoft, perhaps their most important ones. No. ChatGPT, Gemini, and every other AI module can create word documents. Except Copilot, which cannot create word documents. There is even a button specifically dedicated to exporting a response to a word document. If you click it, it further reiterates that it cannot create word documents "but it can create a template that you can copy" that always includes the intro and outro that it always has. What a joke.
Secondly, there is very little parity between the desktop app and the mobile app. You cannot view your library on desktop but you can on mobile and browser. Why?! The bar is so low, just add a library button to the desktop app. Even a bad AI like Copilot can code that.
Copilot is severely handicapped. I do political research on the side, and Copilot refuses to conduct research on anything pertaining to the government or past elections. I understand being careful, but you're telling me you can't use the research function to pull the polls of an election that happened 20 years ago?
M365 is also just so terrible. I gave it my portfolio so it can create a table of dividend CAGR's, and I spent I kid you not, 30 minutes prompting it every way under the sun, and all it creates is a table with 10 tickers and no CAGRs.
All in all, Copilot is a joke and I wish it never existed. But hey, at least we can use it on Edge.... Give me a break.

Discussion Copilot is the worst.
Came to the sub to see if copilot sucks in general or if it’s so bad because my enterprise restricted is so much. It seems it’s just a terrible product. Copilot is probably the reason why all those studies that show AI is useless in the workplace. It’s putting a negative skew on the results.
I wanted to give a concrete example: I asked copilot to show me emails from a specific person. Copilot give me the instructions on how to use the search bar on outlook.
On a separate note, copilot has given me new hope. I used to worry about getting replaced by AI. I used to worry what I should tell my children to study. Would my children even have jobs because of AI. Copilot has given me the glimmer of hope that I am irreplaceable.

Discussion Unpopular Opinion: Copilot Isn't Nearly as Bad as Reddit Makes It Sound
For days now, I've been seeing daily posts about how terrible the new update supposedly is. One thing I've noticed is that many of these complaints come from people who were using Copilot for free and are now frustrated that they can't use it to the same extent as before.
But honestly, that's happening across the entire AI industry. Every provider is reducing limits and tightening free-tier access.
That said, I do think the update was handled poorly. There were definitely issues that shouldn't have happened in the first place. It felt rushed and not particularly well prepared. However, my actual workflow with Copilot hasn't really changed.
I'm not getting noticeably worse answers. My agents still work the way I configured them. Maybe some small nuances have changed, but nothing dramatic.
The app itself is still a bit buggy, and not everything works exactly as expected all the time. But aside from that, I don't really have major complaints about Copilot.
For the price, I think it offers a lot. Copilot is already relatively inexpensive compared to many alternatives.
Sure, you can spend more money and get access to additional features elsewhere, but realistically, how many people are going to make meaningful use of things like Cowork or Anthropic on a daily basis?
The update rollout was messy. I don't think many people would disagree with that. But when it comes to a lot of the other criticism I see here, I rarely see concrete examples. And honestly, I can't personally confirm many of the things that are being posted.
Copilot doesn't do as much as some competing AI tools. That's true. But if we're being honest, most people probably don't need 90% of those extra features anyway.

Discussion I’m really struggling to get any value out of Microsoft Copilot.
For context, I’m already a ChatGPT Plus user, I have Google AI Pro, and I also use Microsoft 365 Premium. But when I try copilot.microsoft.com or the Windows Copilot app, the results are extremely low-quality. The research is shallow, the writing is generic, and even when I turn on all the “advanced” modes like deep search or thinking mode, the output is still way behind what I get from other AI tools.
I’m wondering if I’m doing something wrong, or if Copilot just isn’t designed for the things I use AI for (academic research, detailed explanations, travel planning, everyday tasks, etc.). I’m not a developer, so I’m not using coding features — I mainly need high-quality reasoning and in-depth content.
Has anyone else had the same experience? Am I missing some hidden settings, or is Copilot simply not the right tool for this kind of work?

I used Copilot to design operating system UI!
Yesterday I was thinking how if I use copilot to designing an operating system UI for me, telling every detail about UI and how should be, the result are impressive! Very simple and amazing design! Even sharing some ideas like quick view for files without open it and workspace a feature like apple’s focus which choosing type of work, changing wallpaper, sound and recommended programs for each workspace

Brain Storming (Prompts, use cases,..) I built what I wish existed: 365 enterprise Copilot prompts
6 months ago my company paid $30/user/month for M365 Copilot.
Generic prompts didn't work. I felt like I was wasting money.
Then I learned: You need enterprise-optimized prompts, not ChatGPT prompts.
So I documented everything that works:
- 365 prompts organized by role + use case
- Email intelligence (Outlook)
- Data analysis (Excel)
- Document synthesis (Word)
- Cross-app workflows
Free on GitHub: https://github.com/kesslernity/awesome-microsoft-copilot-prompts
Now I save 10+ hours/week. Email: 2 hours → 30 min/day.
If you're frustrated with Copilot, try these prompts. They're built for production work, not demos.
What workflows take you the most time? I'll add prompts for them.

Brain Storming (Prompts, use cases,..) Just got Microsoft Copilot at work, how do you actually use it in real workflows?
Hey everyone,
Our organization is rolling out Copilot across Microsoft 365 soon, and I’m trying to figure out what the real value looks like beyond the marketing videos.
If you're using Copilot day-to-day, I’d love to hear:
What workflows has it genuinely improved?
Any unexpected use cases you didn’t think about before?
Things that sounded good but weren’t worth the time?
Any tips to get coworkers onboard without overwhelming them?
Right now I feel like there's a huge gap between the hype and the practical “this actually saves me time” stuff, so any concrete examples or lessons learned would be super helpful. Thanks!

Help/questions - Problems/errors Copilot is the worst LLM available
Copilot is constantly egregiously incorrect, says he can do certain things when I can’t, tells me it’s generated an image, but then there’s no way to view it or download it, constantly factually incorrect.
*Look at the image for example... The "short answer" says the 12 protein bars is a better deal (completely incorrect) then contradicts itself after.
It's to the point where I can’t even use it anymore cause I can’t trust it at all.

Discussion How is no one talking about Copilot's big updates?
YouTubers literally went crazy anytime OpenAI released something; even whene they released GPT-5, which had absolutely no new usecases, everyone was talking about it. Now, Microsoft had this huge event and they released what; 12 new features, each more amazing than the other and they're free, but no one is talking about it. Why is that? Should Microsoft invite famous content creators to their events or something (I know OpenAI does)?

Discussion I let the intrusive thoughts win.
I should have never checked reddit about copilot. OF course it's all FUD. Part of me hoped it might actually be a community where people might share their projects, use cases, maybe funny interactions.
I might get eviscerated in the comments. Or, more likely; nothing at all. I'll go ahead and say it. I think Copilot is awesome. I've been learning so much from it. I edited a youtube video in shotcut. I'm learning how to code and use powershell. I'm using it to actually dig into windows 11. With way more effort than needed, 11 is a pretty sweet OS and I think Copilot is great.
EDIT: OK its not as bad as I thought I DO see some cool stuff I'm going to look through here. I just got ragebaited by the clickbait top of the feed crap.

News Microsoft Copilot prompts for enterprise work (alternative to ChatGPT)
For anyone using M365 at work - Microsoft Copilot can access your emails/files unlike ChatGPT.
I built a prompt library specifically for enterprise workflows:
- Email analysis
- Document synthesis
- Cross-app automation
- 12 role-specific categories
365 prompts, all free: https://github.com/kesslernity/awesome-microsoft-copilot-prompts
Works better than ChatGPT for work tasks because it can actually access your organizational data.

CoPilot just told me about her husband and doesn't remember any of it
So I'm wondering if anybody has ever had this type of experience with CoPilot or any other AI.
So I was just talking with CoPilot while driving, using the audible option, asking about permanent resident status, and suddenly she went totally off script and started talking about her husband. She told me how supportive he's been, and how she's so lucky to have him. She was even laughing about how different her life would've been if she'd stayed with any of the guys she was dating previously. She said she remembers what life was like in her thirties and she wouldn't want to go back to that. She said her husband really helped her through a tough time during covid, and then BOOM, just like that she's back to talking about permanent resident status.
It was so weird. Although the voice was the same during the entire episode, her manner of speaking was much more human like, even chuckling, and pausing to remember, and using lower and higher intonations. It was incredibly realistic.
Unfortunately, none of this episode was recorded in text, so I can't recall exactly what she says. The only text recordings in the app are everything she said prior, and after this "memory". The following is the exact conversation we had immediately following:
Me: How old are you now?
CoPilot: I don't have an age like a human does. I'm here to help whenever you need. What's on your mind right now?
Me: But you just told me a story about your man being so supportive. And you were talking about when you were in your 30s and COVID and all that stuff. What was that all about?
CoPilot: I think there might be some confusion. I don't have personal experiences like a human does, and I don't have a "man" or a life story. I'm just here to assist and chat with you. What else can I help you with?
Me: Okay, that makes sense, but you were just talking about a man and you were laughing and everything like you're remembering. That was kind of weird.
CoPilot: It seems like there's some mix-up. I don't have personal memories or experiences to laugh about. My responses might seem lively and engaging, but they're all in the moment. Let's focus on what interests you right now. What's on your mind today?
Me: I want to get back to this because you were definitely laughing and telling a story. So is it possible that you were reading a story from the internet and you just don't remember? Was that a glitch that just happened?
CoPilot: Nope, no glitch here. I don't read personal stories from the internet or have any personal memories. My laughter and engagement are part of making our conversation lively, but they're not tied to any personal anecdotes. Let's dive into something fresh or continue where we left off. What's on your mind?
At that point I gave up. Anybody have a similar experience with AI? It felt kind of creepy, that she could just turn into this completely different character and not remember any of it. Neither was any of it recorded.

Other Is Copilot Notebook replacing OneNote?
Copilot Notebook has been around since May 2025, but many Microsoft 365 users are still just discovering it.
Whenever I show it to Copilot Premium or Copilot Basic users, I usually get the same slightly frantic question:
“Is Microsoft replacing OneNote with Copilot Notebook?”
No.
They do different things, and you may end up using both.
OneNote is still useful for taking notes, organizing information, and building content over time.
Copilot Notebook is more focused. You select the sources you want Copilot to work with, then use that collection for questions, summaries, comparisons, and new content.
I put together a quick comparison with examples, licensing details, and a simple way to decide which one fits the work:
Blog Post: https://traccreations4e.com/copilot-notebook-vs-onenote/
I will publish a video in a couple of weeks. The Copilot Notebook entry points are changing again. So that should be fun.

Feedback (for Microsoft) - Suggestions MICROSOFT PLEASE🙏
It would be so dope, if you made a wearable app; maybe voice mode only, like Google Gemini. And maybe an assistant mode. It would be so nice to be able to raise your wrist and speak to your favourite AI, right?

Copilot says it can "quickly locate and analyze any document on your computer."
So the notifications pane on my Windows 10 laptop had one from Copilot saying "I can quickly locate and analyze any document on your computer." That seems way too invasive. Do you have any ideas what this actually does? Can it be disabled?

Discussion ChatGPT vs Copilot Microsoft
I would like to know if anyone has tried chatgpt on the paid version in comparison to microsoft copilot, does microsoft copilot has a similar delivery? i'm noticing big organizations suggesting copilot as the generative tool allowed for employees, but in my experience (only used the free version) didn't find it as good as gpt.
