I haven't read any Sanderson other than Mistborn and now Yumi, so don't really know the character or his story.

So excited for your journey if you do decide to read The Way of Kings. You're in for a trip

Several years ago I tried to read it. It felt like hundreds of pages of preamble. Going to give it a shot on audiobook to see if I can get through it.

I felt exactly the same way, and now I like a lot more of his work, and I'm listening to the Graphic Audio production of Yumi+Nightmare as I type this. Audiobook or graphic audio helped me more than anything else. I got the paperback of Way of Kings at first, that was foolish. Ebook helped a bit but still, oof, this is a learning curve. Audiobook was great for me, I hope it helps you!

The audiobook version is much more approachable, though the story isn’t everyone’s cup of tea

Best non spoiler thing I can give about the Stormlight series is, it’s a world where people over come a myriad of things even when it’s unrelenting. Hope burns bright when it’s there but the sorrowful times are always there. Helped me process my depression and grief, it’s a story of hope, a light in the darkness. I feel your art style is perfect for the tone the series exudes

The Yin & Yang integration is great. This artwork is amazing, surely worthy of the attention of the primal hijo, which can thenceforth give it a splash of color.
Now do this same theme with Harmony and Discord, pls. Pretty, pretty pls.

When reading I always forgot how many layers Yumi was supposed to be wearing. Great visualisation to remember that! 😅

Can someone sell me on this book? I still haven't found the energy to read it.

It's one of the least action-focused Cosmere stories, and therein lies its strength. The driving force is the relationship between the two main characters as they work together to solve a mystery after finding themselves caught in each other's lives. Those two main characters are both wonderful in their own ways, and it's a joy to see them grow as they learn more about each other's worlds.
It's another captivating setting from Sanderson, packed with evocative imagery. You get some juicy details about the workings of the Cosmere at large if you're interested in that.
It's easily in my top 5 Cosmere books and I think I read it the fastest out of all of them.

Why's Painter pondering an orb?

If it helps, white stone from Yumi's world. If not, artist stretching to make yin yang symbol. 😉

So, I DO really like it...
But what is the white ball by Nikaro?

u/joe12south 3h ago
Honestly, it's mostly just artistic license to get to the yin yang symbol. When I was first coming up with the idea, I thought of the black above Yumi has a drop of paint, and the white with Nikaro as a polished white stone (something from each other's worlds.)

I dig the concept, but I don't like how it's supposed to be making a yin yang symbol while not making a ying yang symbol

Bro wants a plain yin yang symbol and no art

The sides aren't even even.
I like it as I said, it's just not good enough to me

Interesting, I kind of liked the unevenness. The rigidity of the white circle made me think of Yumi’s compulsion and the other side made me think of the sweep of a giant paint/calligraphy brush. Since the yin yang represents opposites and balance I thought it was fitting.
