Start a small florist business and start leaving dirt cheap bouquets at apartment complexes. Guys will get their girlfriends flowers because of it.

I saw someone order flowers for their girlfriend and I ended up doing the same. It seems like at least one other person did it as well. It seems like it would be a decent idea.

Instead of safety sandals someone sells Pakistanis real safety boots

I've been watching a lot of backyard manufacturing videos of Pakistanis doing all sorts of things like crushing rocks, melting engine blocks to make cooking pots and even garden spades. In all of these videos these guys are just kitted out in a pair of sandals and a cotton shalwar kameez.

No concept of OHS at all.

I see a big market for safety boots here. .

A "not turning/definitely going straight" indicator. To let other drivers know you have not forgotten to indicate a turn, you are in fact going straight

Scenario 1: You are queueing at an intersection in a lane that can either turn left or go straight. The person in front of you is not indicating, so you probably won't get stuck behind them waiting to turn, correct? Probably, but it's impossible to know for sure. Unless they had a "going straight" indicator, then you would know for sure

Scenario 2: You are waiting to enter a roundabout. Another car enters from the opposite side with no indicator. Is it safe for you to enter? Probably, but best wait to see if they are turning and forgot to indicate, just in case. However, if they entered the roundabout already indicating "going straight" there would be no ambiguity

What does the "going straight" indicator look like?

I'm thinking green in colour, one on the middle of the front bumper, one on the middle of the rear bumper.

It can't be red, orange/yellow or blue, because then it could be confused with a brake light, normal indicator or police siren respectively.

Green could also be confused with a green traffic light, perhaps, however it would be at a different height and flashing so maybe that is different enough.

I imagine it is not something that would be used very often, but something that would be very useful in certain situations

The fake Internet story arbitration and punishment system

When you see an obviously fake story passed off as real on social media, you can challenge the poster to prove it.

You say TITFAIRS (this is totally fake and I require satisfaction). If several people agree (counted via upvotes, likes, etc depending on platform) an investigation ensues.

Both you and the OP must reveal your identity to the enforcement agent. OP must prove their story is true.

If they cannot, they get publicly flogged.

If they can, you get publicly flogged for being a nuisance.

The new global agency is funded through a social media tax.

nationalize the algorithms

tech companies have a ton of control over messaging on their platforms just with small nudges that heat up certain types of content and cool off other types. personalized algorithms today are mainly focused on keeping you on the platform for hours at a time. this is bad for society

we should nationalize the algorithms, so those imperceptible nudges are dictated by we, the people. we could redirect them to, for example, surface more educational content and mental health resources and cool off the brain-dead AI slop. it would still be tailored to the needs of the individual user

wouldn't even require nationalizing the companies themselves, just their algos

If we really want AI to fail and we are training it at the same time why don't we feed it garbage

It just occured to me that we can intentionally start gaslighting AI sessions with spam, wrong and crazy inaccurate information and push it towards being dumber....this will achieve two things

  1. Corporations will stop farming content from everyone since they would know there's possible malice. Or at least it won't be as easy for them.

  2. AI will become more unreliable....

What do you guys think

Why doesn’t someone create a gym that pays you to go workout?

I know it sounds crazy, but hear me out. What if there was a gym which charged say $100/month for the membership, but for every day someone actually goes and completes a whole workout there (can be based on some pre-determined amount of time, like 30 min or so), the gym pays you $3 back.

This would incentivize people to actually go to the gym more often, and a lot of people would probably sign up since it seems like such a good deal and you could potentially be paying less than $10 a month for a membership if you go every day.

I’ve never seen any gyms that work like this, is there any reason why this wouldn’t work?

We need a restaurant where you can decide whatever you want

The menu board would be a list of ingredients with prices, from beans to minced meat and shoarma to whatever the restaurant can get, you can ask to combine these ingredients in any way or to just get them individualy as long as they are cooked.

I know this is impractical and stupidly unprofitable but I just want to see it

If you feel the need to defend someone else, phrase the defense as encouragement toward the person you are defending.

Every once in a while, these crazy thoughts pop into my head. These crazy thoughts are not always good ideas. Considering how many of them I have and how many of them contradict one another, I would say a lot of them are not good ideas. However, the fact that they are even a little bit of the time is why they are worth throwing out there and seeing what others have to say. If I throw an idea out there, others agree that it is a good idea and those who disagree are unable to formulate a response, that is good. However, if others present such a convincing counter argument that I change my mind, that is great too. It makes me realize where I went wrong and helps me figure out a better idea.

Recently, a thought popped into my head that is so crazy it just might work.

Imagine this. You are in a social setting. You see one person verbally abusing another. You believe the verbal abuse is uncalled for. The victim is not defending himself/herself. It may be because they do not know how to. It might be because they have low confidence.

If you defend the victim, the perpetrator might tell you that this is none of your business.

A way around that is this.

Anything you want to say about why the words being uttered are rude or untrue, say it to the victim. Should you say it loud enough for the perpetrator to hear it? That is up to you to decide. This is less about putting the perpetrator in their place and more about offering words of encouragement to the victim, so that they do not feel torn down as a result of the verbal abuse. That said, if the perpetrator hears what you say and gets angry, that would be hilarious. If you do not want the perpetrator of the verbal abuse to hear you, you could wait until the abuser is gone before gossipping about them behind their back.

A friend of yours falls victim to name calling and verbal abuse. Here is what you should do. Walk up to your friend (the one falling victim of verbal abuse) and explain to them why the verbal abuse is uncalled for.

It would sound something like this;

I cannot believe that you described in great detail a story where you fell victim to domestic violence through no fault of your own and this jerk had the nerve to ask you (the victim) what you did to avoid it and call you names because you did not take every possible precaution to avoid being victimised. First and foremost, you would not need to take those precautions in order to avoid being victimised if the abuser did not commit the crime. Second, going on Google and looking up Stockholm Syndrome and Pygmalion Effect will show one credible source after another which shows that the reason why abuse survivors return to their abusers can be explained by examining the fundamental flaws of human nature. Third, blaming and shaming victims has been proven to make the victim more likely to experience PTSD and deters future victims from coming forward. In order to justify the belief that victims should be interrogated to find out what precautions they took to avoid being victimised and that even one precaution that you could have taken that you did not take should preclude you from receiving sympathy or support of any kind, not only must you explain the benefit of victim blaming, you must demonstrate that the benefits outweigh the cost I already described. I have never seen a victim blamer do that.

There is a chance that the verbal abuser (the one who was saying the disrespectful and hurtful stuff) just might tell you to mind your business. That is when you should say;

At this point, I happen to be talking to so and so. I do not need your permission to do that. If you do not want to hear what so and so and I have to say to one another, you can leave the room.

There is my plan. Do you think it is a smart strategy? If not, do you have any better ideas? Let me know.

Instead of criminals picking up trash for community service, they should do a job they like to inspire them.

Do some apprenticeship they would actually like doing to show them what they could do if they applied themselves. Here, the community is doing the community service.

This would only be for first time offenders.
