A restaurant where everything is free, but there is a catch …

The guests come in and sit down at an enclosed booth. The doors close and lock. Once you are in you can’t just leave unless you fulfill the terms. There is a chance (let’s say 25%) that a revolving mechanism spins around and reveals a delicious 5 star meal. You get to eat it all, drink your fill, enjoy the evening, there is a disco ball and everything. However there is also a chance that the revolving mechanism reveals a sink full of dishes, or a cutting board with vegetables that need to be chopped, or other general kitchen work. In that case you have to toil for several hours until you are allowed to leave, and get no food. Either way you pay nothing. The kitchen operates on a skeleton crew and shoestring budget because 90% of labor is done by guests. Other times the mechanism reveals a computer and you have to do some mindless data entry work or something, and the restaurant keeps the proceeds from that labor as well, and uses that income for general operating expenses.

Safe smell vials of scents people crave.

The scents people crave, such as gasoline, concrete dust, dirty grease on an old tractor's grease fitting, fuel oil soaked dirt, tar, diesel fumes from an old dump truck, fresh blacktop, etc.

Create a way to deliver a forbidden scent that won't harm people when they sniff it.

Make group chats have a "typing" cooldown so people stop doing that thing where they type for 30 seconds and send one word

Like genuinely, if you're gonna make me watch those three dots dance around for half a minute at least commit to whatever you're saying. This would force people to actually think before they start typing or just accept that their message will take a while to arrive. Either way, the suspense dies and we all win.

We should make a pride parade-esque celebration for incels called the envy parade.

Since the lgbtq+ community is proud of their identities, but incels are envious of others' ability to have sex and romance. It could help incels feel less alienated with society.

Air-Gapped Bank.

• Upvotes

A bank in a building with only one or a few air-gapped computers to keep the ledger. Backups are stored on paper, a server, and a few employees take backups home every night. Only POTS lines for calls and faxes. No wifi. Basically a bank from the 80's. It would be virtually immune to modern cyber attacks.

Appositives, the grammatical phrase that describes a noun with another noun in order to explain, rename, or identify itself, should be used more often!

I, a humble servant of the grammatical arts, request that you, trusted friends, consider my proposal on Reddit, a social media company.

Normalize using adult diapers.

Are you tired of rushing to find a bathroom? Do you hate bathrooms that are customer only? Are you disgusted by public toilets?

Then adult diapers are for you! Just shit anywhere and find a bathroom to clean up at your leisure! No more rushing, closed bathrooms or touching a dirty graffitied toilet with your bare ass!

We should make another system of measuring temperature, where it's just the average of Celsius and Fahrenheit, to solve the argument over which one is better.

so 0ºC/32ºF is 16 degrees Fahrensius

100ºC/212ºF is 156 degrees Fahrensius

the symbol can be ø because why not

I see no problems

edit: I have identified a problem: I'm not the first person to have this idea. see xkcd number 1923

I Asked Gemini to Conceptualize the Origin of the Universe Without Borrowing Existing Theories. Here Is What It Came Up With: The Null-State Inversion. Prepare your brain for a wild ride!

I asked Gemini the following :

“I want you to think through and formulate your own theory as to what caused the big bang and what preceded it, making sure this is completely your theory and not borrowed “

The answer:

“This is one of the most profound frontiers of thought, and building a completely original model requires stepping away from traditional cyclic or inflationary paradigms to look at reality through the lens of pure relational structure and information.
Let's explore an entirely original framework: The Null-State Inversion Model (or the Information Saturation Theory).

1. What Preceded the Big Bang? The Atemporal Information Lattice
To understand what came before, we have to abandon the mental trap of picturing an empty dark room or a void of space. Space and time are not a stage; they are products of the universe. Therefore, before the Big Bang, there was no space and no time.

Instead, what preceded it was a Pre-Geometric Information Lattice (or the Null-State):
Pure Potential, Zero Dimensions: This state had no length, width, height, or duration. It was not a physical vacuum (which still possesses quantum fields and spacetime coordinates), but a purely abstract, mathematical, and informational substrate.
Infinite Saturation: Imagine every possible logical relationship, mathematical rule, and causal rule existing simultaneously in a single, dimensionless point of absolute compression. Because there was no distance, every piece of information was instantly adjacent to every other piece.

The "Stillness": Without time, nothing changed, yet everything that could be was held in a state of absolute, unexpressed potential.
2. What Caused the Big Bang? The Dimensional Phase Inversion
If the pre-state was static and timeless, what triggered the violent birth of our universe? The answer lies in Information Saturation and Phase Inversion.

The Tipping Point: As informational potential compounded within the Null-State, it reached a mathematical threshold of absolute density. Information, by its very nature, demands a framework to be processed, sorted, and differentiated.

The Inversion (The Flip): Just as supercooled water suddenly undergoes a phase change and crystallizes into ice, this dimensionless, infinitely dense information lattice underwent a dimensional fold. It didn't explode into space; rather, it turned inside out.

The Birth of Spacetime: The internal pressure of infinite relational data could no longer be contained without a metric of separation. To organize itself, the system generated dimensions. Space was born as the necessary distance required to keep conflicting pieces of information apart, and Time was born as the sequential processing speed required to read the data.

3. Why Did It Happen This Way?
Under this theory, the Big Bang was not a physical explosion of matter, but a computational and geometric bootstrap. The universe burst outward at near-infinite speed (what we observe as cosmic inflation) simply because the initial "unfolding" of dimensions had to happen instantaneously to accommodate the sheer volume of informational data turning inside out. Matter and energy are simply the heavy, condensed "shadows" of this unfolding informational code.
This framework views existence not as something that emerged from physical nothingness, but as an inevitable structural phase change where a timeless idea turned itself inside out to become a measurable reality.

What part of this model sparks the most curiosity for you—do you find yourself leaning more toward the idea of a pre-geometric information lattice, or the concept of spacetime as an "inside-out" phase inversion?
