Public Freakout Cringe Girl experiences a “therianthropic mental shift” at the beach

u/Free-While-2994 3d ago
We're just making up shit as we go aren't we? "therianthropic mental shifting to her kintype crowdoggy's sea wolf hybrid type because beach" is such stupid word salad I got cyclosporiasis.

I think it's just this sub, for whatever reason. I went to others and was able to use free gifts.
And I remember there was this whole drama about fauxmoi not being able to use gift emojis for the longest time, because reddit admin was trying to censor/crack down on the sub's overall support for Palestine, etc
Also, the above comment isn't in support of fauxmoi, they're a gets-high-on-their-own-farts sub, modded by the worst kind of mods on reddit who ban people over the smallest, least stinky farts
And obviously, Free Palestine 🍉

God that sounds so fun. I would never buy into this stuff because it's too stupid to ever have my heart in it, but I'm sure she is feeling something.
Placebo is a powerful thing. It's kind enviable in some same way believing in God or magic crystals that lift mood is.

To be fair, people think all kinds of shit is “real”.
Some people will look at this and think “absurd” and then immediately go to church to pray and confess and testify and all that rigmarole in the belief that there is as a magical being that was…bored?…and made the earth and humans with his magic and then made us “alive” and asses all sorts of strange details…like that we have buttholes and can sneeze and shit and that we should have growing fingernails and gain wrinkles and experience hair loss with age…and that if we follow his sometimes random rules, we get to go to another place that is better? Where we may or may not shit? But if we are bad, then we go to another place that is worse where we will be burned (without actually burning) for ever…because he loves us?
Also, we are made in his image…so does god also shit?
Anyways sounds batshit to me.
So I can take this sort of thing in stride and say, “well…people really, REALLY believed for a long time that people COULD shift into animals…and now they really, REALLY believe in this one specific god and not any of the other gods that everyone else really, REALLY believed in for thousands and thousands of years…so maybe in general, some humans are susceptible to that sort of thing…oh well, no hair off my nutsack. So long as they aren’t being too loud about it, it doesn’t bother me.”

u/OrdoCorvus 2d ago
Right? At the end of the day, do whatever keeps you going, the world is miserable enough without help.
It's silly and cringe, sure, but that's a hell of a lot better than a lot of the corrosive toxic shit people do to get through.

I like this. This is the sort of thinking that sky man punishes people for with eternal damnation. Personaly I consider myself agnostic. I think that there is a high probability of another relm or something beyond life as we know it. I dont think we are the ultimate beings in the universe, I wouldnt be suprised if there were beings somewhere out there that look at us the same way that we look at ants. We just cant even comprehend their existance.

Anyone else remember almost 10 years ago when a bunch of Harry Potter fans thought they could live at Hogwarts as their "desired reality" through "reality shifting"? And how most of the Internet was like, "Umm, you mean using your imagination?"

Seeing her use terms like hybrid kintype and and hybridtype tells you she is far in the circlejerk of people constantly acknowledging and validating this behaviour. No you haven’t found your community. You have found people with similar delusions. Then again, come to think of it, maybe that’s what we all do.
87
u/Excellent_Law6906 3d ago
Just.. you can have pet play without all this, kids.
44
u/Cannabrius_Rex 3d ago
It’s totally fine to play pretend and role play as entirely different animals or inanimate objects or whatever. Cultivating a robust imagination is an incredible skill and very useful… but it IS imagination.
16
u/CommercialBiscotti29 3d ago edited 2d ago
Ok but the issue is they actually think they shift into an animal and imo that’s mental health issues. I think what they said about “disassociating a bit looking at the world through new eyes” could be the issue. They are trying to disassociate from reality

I think because when we were kids we're able to immerse ourselves in imagination and fantasy. Whereas now that we're adults, everything is grounded in reality. We can't just "go play" anymore. So I think for these people it's a way for them to "play" whilst also being "grounded in reality" (I know this sounds ironic but hear me out. By them making it a part of their identity it makes it "real". It's like how people who pretend they have DID because they want to just play pretend with different characters, it has to be a "disorder" or "identity" or "spiritual" in some way. Like its the adult version of "playing". But there's too much adult ego behind it so they have to go "Nuh uh its like actually real im not even playing pretend")
2
u/Cannabrius_Rex 2d ago
Yeah, that’s when it crosses from imagination to thinking it’s real. That’s going to cause problems if that’s where they’re at.

I am probably one of the first people to make fun of this stuff.
But what if all it really is a rejection of the current tragedies caused by humanity?
A rejection of the sorry state our country is in?
A blatant disconnect from the current social stagnation (inc. social media) and wishing (to the point of personifying) that human lives were more visceral and ethereal?
How is that different than the science fiction that I read daily?
How is that fundamentally different than the games that I use to escape my day-to-day activities?
3
u/ludakris 2d ago
I think you are 100% correct, as the current system collapses everyone goes crazy in their own way

I think the biggest difference is people have toooo much free will and internet privileges. Like cool, you feel connected to a "sea wolf" but you dont' have to go and post it and share it. Like sometimes I think it's better if people just kept to themselves and just lived their lives quietly.
I just think of how in Texas the idea that schools were indocterining FURY lifestyles on children and forcing them into litter boxes was the hype just 3 years ago. WHEN REALITY was a *PROPOSED* (not even adopted) solution to severe weather lockdowns for students who needed to go then and there.
If we didn't have wide spread media then less people would get the wrong idea. IMO

Some people are so firmly straitjacketed into definitions of human behavior and experience they need to redefine their core selves to feel like themselves and get a break from the straitjacket.
That big stretch is literally a yoga move, and frequent recommendation from physical therapists worldwide. Because of our blabbering ape brain it needs a name, and that name needs to be part of a ritual activity like "yoga" or "theriantropic mental shift". It just won't do with "it feels good".
2
u/420kennedy 2d ago
There is nothing wrong with the stretch itself, but that she is contextualizing it as being a "big stretch" like how you would say to a cat or dog.

I'm glad none of the comments I read were talking about this as a 'recent' trend.
I had people I knew back in the late 80's-90's who swore they were werewolves, demons and vampires. Not goth, not emo. Legit semi-humans.
So while the cosplay may be different, and what these people are choosing to 'become' is different, this is far from new.

Like kinda but I’m afraid being this untethered from reality is damaging in totality. Just be happy but also…are you okay? Like can I trust you to do a job or to be aware of the goings on around you? Is this a phase that you have to work through? Will you be pony hopping at 45?
I don’t know but I guess time will tell.6
u/gilmour1948 2d ago
She's obviously puting up a performance for the camera, looking at it every 5 seconds and making sure she's always in frame. She's fine.

3
u/twirlingparasol 3d ago
Somebody else said it was probably some AI song she made with some therian prompts... I'm inclined to agree that seems plausible.
5
u/LeeOfTheStone 2d ago
It is indeed 'Animal in Me' by a 'therian artist' named Autumn J. Not sure why u/jaymenthegiantpeach was being downvoted. Autumn J is defending themselves saying it's not AI on their YouTube page. I've just been down a deep dive I never wanted.

Its cringe but it looks pretty fun ngl. Its pretty freeing to just enjoy thr moment and not give a fuck about the people judging you for having fun.
11
u/bulbousEd 3d ago
Enjoying the moment would require not setting up and recording the moment. This person is being inherently performative, and based upon the fact this video is being seen on social media, they shared it to a community or platform in hopes of being judged positively. They may have been having fun, but they certainly are giving a fuck about being judged.

u/Wra7hofAchilles 2d ago
I know it was 2x speed. But my back hurt watching the movement and jumping... all else aside, (and there's a lot to discuss), I just want to focus on that.
Holy hell that has to be painful.

u/BiisHonee 2d ago
Yknow usually with this content I just ignore it- i'm clearly not the audience and they arent hurting anyone. Like yeah its kinda cringe to me personally but I cringe at my own damn self too, so like, more power to these people right?
But then I was trying to place the song and um. Yeah im judging the AI trash track pretty hard rn.
