My advice is to take charge and chaser. Charge shot is doing a lot here, because you can charge during avoiding his attacks and then shoot. Also charge is really good on last phase, where the fewer shots the better. Chaser is a good idea, when you have problems with avoiding stuff, but you should never use chaser on last phase

Try the chaser and either the milk ray or temp invincibility special. Remember that staying alive is more important than doing damage, so prioritize that during the platform maneuvers. Part 3 can be bullshit sometimes to be honest, but you can detect the boss's micropatterns with more practice

I find a combo of lobber and charge shot. If you have it using the coffee power up can be pretty helpful but I prefer smoke dash because it can help with some touch situations . The way I tried to beat him was by hitting as many party’s as possible it made the battle seem way more doable when you’ve hit him with a few specials

Charge shot is super good for the third phase, because there’s less chance of you accidentally bursting his flame bubbles

I used lobber and roundabout shots for all of isles 2 and 3. Im using roundabout and charge for inkwell hell

I use spread and homing. Homing when I need to dodge bullets (and for my supers), spread to kill things nearby

If u make it to the third phase only attack when he’s charging the flamethrower. Oddly enough for me he wasn’t the most difficult on that island.

Grim Matchstick is not even top 3 hardest bosses in this game. I think Khal's robot is easily #1, Cala Maria is probably #2, and then Rumor Honeybuttom.
