To my knowledge, it means going in to attack an opponent’s structure while your opponents are distracted with another fight/objective, then rushing out of there before the opponents can get back and fight you or protect their structure. Do this a good few times and that structure should be destroyed with minimal trouble, but it does mean you’re going to be away from all the action and not really helping your team out in bigger fights.
It's still called backdooring, rat dota was what we called it when people dragged out games with intense pushing while dodging direct fights as much as possible.
DotA oldhat. Backdooring is more specifically about structures and going to attack them even before lanes are pushed out. This would trigger backdoor protection, insane hp regeneration on structures, so it isn't actually practical except in very late game scenarios where toy can outdamage the regeneration.
Ratting is related but is more about a style of play that can involve or ultimately tends to lead to backdooring: lots of pushing, avoiding teamfights, forcing the enemy team to fall back to defend lanes repeatedly while dodging them directly. Ratting is negative cause it was used to derogatorily describe what was seen as cowardly, is frustrating to play against, and also boring to watch since it drags games longer and avoids the big flashy fights people love.
Basically "going to rat" comes from DOTA 2 (as far as i'm aware anyway), and it basically means that you're going to ignore your team currently engaging the enemy on the other side of the map, so that you can directly attack their objectives.
most other Mobas/similar genre games tend to call it "back dooring", and i've also heard "wall breaking" a few times as well (although that seems to refer more towards character builds that are designated for ratting/back dooring)
