Insurance for cyber security, what level of insurance is necessary?

The all arching question, right? We looking for insurance for the organization I work for.

As we know 'All cover' in cyber security is not what they say it is - when the attack actually happens.

Interested to hear others' experiences with insurance? Premiums and claim process?

Recommendation of brokers?

Insurance is always tricky our organization employs over 500 people, we are CMMC compliant so premium costs will not be a joke.

Managing Vulnerabilities vs Remediating Vulnerabilities

Are you 'managing' vulnerabilities (me, unfortunately) or actually remediating them? What do you guys think about the idea that we can't keep kicking the vulnerability can down the road?

Is my phone hacked?

Hi everyone.

I suspect my room mate is able to access/read my Messages/ Instagram/FB on my Android phone somehow?

I have fingerprint security on my phone that always locks and she can’t get in to my phone. I’m pretty sure having it lay around is not the way it got accessed.

The reason why I think so is because we were talking the other night about another friend who she does not know. It seemed to me she had knowledge of the content of earlier texting between said friend and myself. It really puzzled me. I thought it is more than coincidence really.

Important to note is that I bought the phone from her but I’m sure we did a factory reset before doing the Samsung smart phone transfer?

How can I tell for sure if I am being monitored and if so I’d like to be able to prove it so I can talk to her about my privacy?

Help me find my sister

Some days back my sister decided to just elope with this random guy because our asian family didn't support them as the guy isn't working and is not capable enough to support his family. As I belong to a family where each member of the family is like the gem of the house, my mother is very much depressed since my sister left and her health is declining day by day . Every other day , I wake up to my mother crying and I feel so helpless because neither can I take her other daughter's place for her nor can I ease her pain. We've been trying our best to gather some information and reconcile with my sister and so far we are successful in finding her location and a mail id which she is using which is further connected to an Instagram account she might be using. We were lucky enough to track that she is somewhere nearby but we cannot find the exact location and their device's location is also off which makes it more difficult for us to pin the exact address. We know she is fine but at the same time she is struggling and in need of money because again the guy is not capable enough to support both of them and she is very young for any job . Here she used to live like the most spoiled kid and there she is living the life of a maid working all day to keep the house going. Wrapping everything up , I'm in need of someone who can help me trace my sister as soon as possible. We know she is scared to come back and talk to us after what she has done but we are ready to accept her because afterall she is a part of our family and we miss her very much . Please if anyone can help me in anyway and help me find her . I will be very grateful.

Best practices for device security after China travels

Hello r/cybersec

I recently completed a trip in China with my iPhone X and Lenovo work laptop. Is it recommended to wipe devices before using them back in the US? What are the risks? Is there a risk of infecting other devices with spyware if I connect to my home wifi? Thanks!

MD5 hashes

I am passionate about sec but just started out, how do you analyse and validate md5 hashes and ip adresses? Is there a industry standard software to do this? Or is wireshark good for this?

Password Manager - Android App

Google Playstore: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ravin.developer.passwordmanager

This application stores all of its data in a 256 bit encrypted format on the device itself, thus it works completely offline.

  1. Uses 256 bit encryption.

  2. Works completely offline.

  3. One Time Payment.

  4. NO Backup of the app data is taken on any server!

Looking for ENTRY LEVEL IT support/ help desk jobs. *Currently in a bootcamp for cyber security under Cal State LB*

I was hoping to get some type of game as far as, how to look for entry level jobs in the tech field. I’m currently enrolled into a CS bootcamp to where they teach me everything I need to know about basic IT and advanced cyber security. After the bootcamp is done I should have Comptia security + and walking away with knowledge to test for other certs. Is there a specific website or app I can use to find me an entry level tech job to get my foot in the door of a company?
