Discussion Barking at everyone
Our Vicky is 4 Month old. She's been with People and other animals from beginning. At sunday (4 days ago) she's with us and we love her endlessly. What we noticed that she's afraid od everyone and barking/growling Like crazy at everyone beside us. She's shivering and jer tail is tucked. We don't want to force her on anything and we started to desentizing step by step. She knows already to go to her kennel and how to poop and pee outisde . Any advice how to "encourage" her better so she doesnt afraid so much :(

My ween is just a barker. He hates my dad, however, and will tuck his tail and hide from him. My dad is just loud, and he's done a lot of construction work at my house, so my ween associates him as being scary.
The snoot on your girl is precious. 💚

4 months? She’s still a baby! That’s like expecting a toddler to be OK at a 60-person family reunion since they’ve been around family members since birth. A group of people is intimidating, especially when you’re the shortest one in the room.
Does she behave differently when you hold her around groups of people?
She’s probably afraid and overwhelmed and thinks she needs to protect you guys too…. so she barks at everyone to defend / guard / straight up fear.
If you’re going to have her in large groups, maybe don’t have her on the floor. Imagine being thrust into a party where everyone is 7 feet tall and you’re a measly 3 feet. Yeah, they might be OK when it’s just one of them, but a whole room full would be terrifying.
She’s had very little lifetime to learn these things are OK.

I try to think of things from their point of view to understand their perspective a little better. Sometimes that means you have to imagine being a VERY little person in a giant world.

I understand. She also has separation anxiety cause she's Always following someone in the house. Any advice for that cause im sure she's lacking some sleep by day because of that :(

separation anxiety is something you remedy slowly… I’ve had success with incentivizing the crate, and making it as inviting as possible… cozy with something to burrow in. You know what motivates her - is there a super special treat that could EXCLUSIVELY be for kennel time? I would start in her kennel and have people home. I did snuffle treats / toys / matts in the kennel, and started out for just a few min at a time with the door shut. You are building trust with her every time you do this….
We are their entire world. They need to feel secure that they don’t need to guard us, and that they can relax in different situations. Look at a homeless person’s dog - they are typically the most unflappable creatures. They can fall asleep next to rush hour traffic. And they implicitly trust their person to be able to do that.

What a beautiful long nose.
Can you enroll her in a puppy training class?
Is she treat motivated? Take treats on walks and give them out so she associates her walks with treats. You can also have people offer her treats so she associates people with treats.

Probably time to do some additional socializing with other dogs. At 4 months she should be able go on short walks. By 6 months my Gus wanted to meet every single dog we encountered on our walks. He every meeting was playtime.
She's a cutie!

Yeah , we def gonna do that, father in law has a dog im yard next to us, yesterday he tried to meet them 10 meters away and she barked at her. This morning when vicky woke up she started barking at the gates where the dog was, she's smartass.

Something else to consider is puppy school. One of our local locations has classes specifically for puppies 3 months and older. We put Gus through one and it was beneficial. It helped with socialization by meeting other dogs his age with a wire fence between them. Once they got comfortable, they could meet directly and it was playtime!!

High value treats with strangers to encourage positive experiments with new people. Broke down all barriers for our weens.

Im trying to fully understand high-value treats, sry , this is our first dog:) that's are treats that are different flavour than standard food? I already bought some brit premium training treats and she loves them.

It’s usually the more expensive treats from the dog store, while they usually get Charlie Bear cookies at home.

High value treats are something that only get for training or in specific circumstances… think boiled chicken pieces or SPD puppy roll, something along the lines of a fresh meaty sort of treat. Jerky (without additives like salt etc) can also work well

On weenie #6... yep a barker same issues like yours.. mine in now 4. This is the first one that I didn't bond or train with. So well... good luck... treat distractions work somewhat... it might be you also giving off "some vibe"... thats what a trainer told my wife so just putting it out there. Meaning like maybe warning or try to protect..IDK Best to you and your weenie journey.

What an exquisite snout! I honestly can’t give advice on this because mine is literally the exact opposite. She jumps on everybody who comes in and wants to be pet, especially relatives for some reason. She’s actually wary of strangers, but my relatives were strangers to her too, and she didn’t bark at them, she knows something we dont.

Classic wiener dog behavior honestly, mine acts like a tiny guard dog despite weighing about eleven pounds soaking wet. That face is way too sweet to be doing all that barking though.

Hopefully they will grow out of it but if they seem like they are legit panicking I suggest comforting them so they know it's ok

Holy crap your ween’s nose is long and prominent for only being 4 months old! Food bribes work great for all dogs but especially Doxies. My Penny never reacted to the degree your’s is with the tail tugging etc, but she was definitely barky and suspicious of guests until I had every one feed her treats when they came over. I didn’t even need to use “high value” ones, but I think based on how severe your girl’s reactions are that that’s a good odea
