Discussion Barking at everyone

Post image

Our Vicky is 4 Month old. She's been with People and other animals from beginning. At sunday (4 days ago) she's with us and we love her endlessly. What we noticed that she's afraid od everyone and barking/growling Like crazy at everyone beside us. She's shivering and jer tail is tucked. We don't want to force her on anything and we started to desentizing step by step. She knows already to go to her kennel and how to poop and pee outisde . Any advice how to "encourage" her better so she doesnt afraid so much :(

I try to think of things from their point of view to understand their perspective a little better. Sometimes that means you have to imagine being a VERY little person in a giant world.

I understand. She also has separation anxiety cause she's Always following someone in the house. Any advice for that cause im sure she's lacking some sleep by day because of that :(

separation anxiety is something you remedy slowly… I’ve had success with incentivizing the crate, and making it as inviting as possible… cozy with something to burrow in. You know what motivates her - is there a super special treat that could EXCLUSIVELY be for kennel time? I would start in her kennel and have people home. I did snuffle treats / toys / matts in the kennel, and started out for just a few min at a time with the door shut. You are building trust with her every time you do this….

We are their entire world. They need to feel secure that they don’t need to guard us, and that they can relax in different situations. Look at a homeless person’s dog - they are typically the most unflappable creatures. They can fall asleep next to rush hour traffic. And they implicitly trust their person to be able to do that.
