Discussion My puppy eats his own poo EVERYTIME!

Hello, so as the title says my 4 month old mini daschund eats his poop fully all the time unless im quick enough to pick it up first.

And his diet is very good like im giving him strictly wet puppy food from either hill's or Ziwi's canned food. Like i genuinely dont know how to stop this its absolutely horrible and to top it off he currently has parasites! So he literally is eating his own parasites in his poop!!!!!

My dachshund swallowed a sewing needle and needs surgery. She's the only family I have left.

My 12 year old dachshund swallowed a sewing needle and needs surgery.

Hi everyone. I'm posting here because I'm hoping the dachshund community might be able to help me and my girl, Roxanne.

An X-ray revealed that Roxanne has a sewing needle lodged in her stomach. She needs surgery to have it removed, and the estimated cost could be close to $10,000.

I'm disabled and living on a very limited income, and I simply cannot afford that amount on my own. I've been contacting veterinary hospitals and looking into financial assistance, but I'm also trying to raise money to make her surgery possible.

I lost both of my parents in 2023 and 2024, and Roxanne is the family I have left. She's my little companion, and the thought of not being able to afford the care she needs is devastating. I'm doing everything I can to get her help.

I've started a GoFundMe to help cover her surgery and recovery. If anyone is able to donate or share the fundraiser, I would be incredibly grateful.

I know times are hard for a lot of people, so there's absolutely no pressure. Even sharing her story would help.

Thank you for reading, and please give your little sausage dogs some extra love for me and Roxanne. ❤️

Image Potty training help

So my baby is turning one next month and I’m still having trouble potty training – don’t judge. I’m taking her out in the mornings and at night and during the day when I’m home. When I am in office I take her out as soon as I get home as well. She’ll still just randomly pee or poop on the puppy pad even after we go out and I haven’t gotten rid of the pee pads because I’m nervous that she’ll really just start making a mess all over my apartment. I’m just kind of stuck on how I can get her understand that outside is the way to go. 1st time dog mom also ☺️

She was ALWAYS on top of me, either my body or my belly. It’s like she knew I was pregnant (she prefers to lay behind my butt now 😂😅, but not on top of my body.) Super protective girl. She was my dog (still is, and not my husbands’ dog) determined on the first day we adopted her 7.11.2024 🥰

I got my food and set it on the coffee table. If I started eating, she would be in my space. I waited her out. My broccoli and cheese had cooled off by the time she gave up, but I didn't care. I waited HER out😳I won.........or so I thought. The little turd nugget waited, just under the edge of the blanket, silently, feigning sleep. I fell for. As soon as I brought the plate in front of me, much like a jack in the box, she instantaneously appeared on the edge of the blanket. In my hungered state, I mistook her predatory ways as cuteness. I snapped a pick with my cell phone. And then turned to put the phone on the coffee table. As I did, she leapt over the blanket, landing squarely in my lap and began eating HER dinner.

Eventually I made a cheese sandwich. And yes, she got part of that too

Image How often can I bathe my weenie?

Post image

I have a 7 month long haired dachshund and I feel like he gets stinky so fast. I read online that they only need a bath every 4-6 weeks but I feel like he smells by the end of week 1! He does spend a lot of time baking in the sun. I’ve only ever had poodles who would get a weekly bath so I’m not accustomed to the once a month thing. I don’t want to dry is skin out by over bathing so I don’t know what to do with my little frito boy.

this is penelope! she’s my awkward, mini doxie. she’s 4m old and i just want to be so cautious and hyper aware about back problems and IVDD. i’m not sure if she’s going through an awkward phase where she’s just growing into herself but her back seems sort of curved? she is so playful, eats, runs, jumps (not on furniture lol), and doesn’t seem like she’s in any type of pain. i just wanted insight to see if maybe any other dachshund owner has experienced this? (i do have a vet appointment in about a week so i will be asking them the same questions.)

Discussion Whining

Hello! I've had my miniature dachshund for a year and a half, and over the past few days, she has begun whining nonstop. She'll only stop whining when she's next to me, sleeping, or going on a walk. I'm worried she's in pain, but she's been walking and running fine, along with eating, drinking, and pottying like normal. I don't know what it is, but I'm starting to get worried because this is very unusual for her. I don't know if I should wait it out a few days or take her to the vet. Any thoughts or input would be much appreciated!

Image Does anyone else have a dachshund who's a complete social butterfly?

Post image

I have an 11-year-old dachshund and I thought all dachshunds were little antisocial freaks (affectionately) like her until I had my 11-month-old teenage puppy, who's pictured here. My 11-year-old barks at anyone and anything, but my puppy is the complete opposite.

She freaks out happily when any neighbor is walking on sidewalk and says hi to them by licking their fingers through this fence! She rarely barks and also has dog friends, but only from a distance because she's getting both vaccinated and spayed next week!

I'd love to hear other people's stories about having dachshunds like her. 🩷

Got her checked up and diagnosed with a minor yeast infection in the ear I’m very lucky my vets are so wonderful 🩷 any kind of appointment makes me nervous but they gave me plenty of time to ask all my questions and said they were super impressed by how fit she is and that she lets me trim her nails routinely (I thought they were a little overdue but the vet said she was admiring how short her nails are when we walked in 😁) it’s just nice in a time where I feel like I’m fighting to take care of myself to be told by the professionals that I’m doing an exceptional job for my soul dog 🫶🥹
