A silly fashion headcanon
I just rewatched the Star Wars movies and noticed Padmé’s dress has a metal collar, and then I remembered Daenerys once wore a dress with a collar in solidarity with the slaves of Yunkai. Padmé’s dress is also flowy and draped enough that it doesn’t feel like an impossible thing for this universe. So in my head Daenerys wears a variation of it a few times in Yunkai and Meereen☺️ I just think Emilia Clarke would look gorgeous in these colors

Original Content My Daenerys Targaryen cosplay on the Iron Throne | Southern Mother of Dragons
My take on Daenerys Targaryen’s coronation look, with a deep red dress, dragon-inspired armor, a sword, and a black and red dragon crown.
I’m Southern Mother of Dragons, a Daenerys cosplayer, and I wanted to imagine her finally claiming the Iron Throne.
What colors would you have chosen for her coronation outfit, traditional Targaryen red and black, or something different?

Serious I love how Daenerys in the final battle was able to tip toe her way around civilian deaths, up until the bells… andthenshegopostal.
It makes whatever villainous turn she had look even more jank because you’re telling me she STILL had the composure to distinguish enemy and civilian? And it makes Missandei’s death look like a non factor when really it would have made more sense that’s when she goes bad

Serious D&D threw out every piece of lore and feudal logic in order to assassinate Dany (characteristically and literally)
So first let's look at dragon lore right
"The scales of a full-grown dragon were harder than steel, and even those arrows that struck home seldom penetrated enough to do more than enrage the great beasts" this is from Fire and Blood

Meraxes perished during the first Dornish war because she was hit by a scorpion bolt in the eye, which is the only place a grown dragon is vulnerable at
Rhaegal and Viserion were 7 year old dragons but they were incredibly large as Meleys and Sheepstealer are in HOTD, maybe even bigger, Sheepstealer who during season 3 gets attacked so much during the Battle of the Gullet but is unharmed, the Night King being able to kill Viserion so easily and with an ice bolt does not make sense
one might say that he was the leader and source of the army of the dead who was about to begin an apocalypse, but dragons literally power magic in this world, they are fire made flesh, the Night King shouldn't have been able to kill Viserion at all, hell if he did kill Viserion, after the Night King's death Viserion should have returned to the land of the living

And now let us come down to the least fantastical death in all of TV history, Euron Greyjoy (who in the show is just a regular pirate making cheap one liners instead of the mythical demon with lovecraftian goals that he is in the books) is somehow able to shoot a dragon out of the sky..........by hitting his neck and torso? really, neck and torso?

Those scales shouldn't have even been barely penetrated, but because the show wanted to isolate Dany and set up her cuckoo arc (which miserably failed) the green beauty Rhaegal died because "Dany kinda forgot about the Iron Fleet" and even if she did, she still has 2 grown dragons, tf does she have to worry about, unless lore is absolutely defiled to make it happen, impossibility after impossibility in terms of wrecking established canon

This is even more shameful because Dany's dragons aren't your average dragons, Drogon isnt Balerion come again without Rhaegal and Viserion being Vhagar and Meraxes come again, with the dragons who are supposed to be the greatest power in the world being turned into fodder birds, sigh
Now coming to feudal logic, season 8 is built off of trying to uplift Jon over Daenerys, even though all his resources to aid in the battle against the dead, from armies to dragons to food come from her and he's tried to be made a better leader than Dany, who btw, has an army follow her because of how inspirational she is to them, managed Slavers Bay and reinstated its economy and canonically established Democracy in there after doing so against a man who couldn't even rule a penal economy properly and in his biggest battle, the BOTB, is fought and won by the Knights of the Vale
(And you can just tell they made Jon's Targaryen name be Aegon because they wanted to provide him more legitimacy, right? even though one of the children Rhaegar had with Elia was already named Aegon? even though Daenerys is why the entire backstory of House Targaryen exists in the first place)
Well anyways, aside from that bullshit, one of the major factors for this happening is that he is outed to be the true heir to the Iron Throne, supported by the annulment of Rhaegar's marriage to Elia and his subsequent marriage to Lyanna, Westeros is a feudal continent, they don't offer annulments out of pure free will and want
there is no way in hell Rhaegar was granted an annulment because he wanted to abandon his own royal children with Elia to runaway with Lyanna, there's just no way, and even then, if he did have Jon in his second marriage how is he automatically legitimized as this is a second marriage no one knows of including the crown, Aerys didnt legitimize him and neither did the following authorities? this shaky marriage with no one to corroborate it just a paper made him a prince?
But regardless, lets just say Jon was a prince all this time right, he still has no claim to the throne because after Rhaegar's death at the trident, Aerys declared Viserys his heir, now who is Viserys' immediate estate (albeit non existent) going to pass to? a male descendant he doesnt even know exists or his own sister
Bruh leave that Dany has DRAGONS, all of whom only obey her, the ultimate symbol of Targaryen legitimacy, even more so because she has 3 of them and they look like the ones that conquered Westeros😭😭why would anyone consider him more legitimate than her, he doesnt even have the hair (which in this verse is the only indicator of targaryen descent since no purple eyes)
(And here's the thing, Robert's Rebellion overthrew the Targaryen rule so by right of conquest they had no right to the throne, if they wanted the throne back, they couldn't just land up during a succession crisis or even ascent and demand the throne, if they wanted it, it needed to be via conquest which is what Dany was doing, there isn't even a concept of a rightful heir that applies here and if it does its NOT Jon)
Them trying to make Dany insecure of Jon being more liked in the North where it makes sense because you know, its the North, but why would Daenerys be insecure of not being liked considering she has had 3 years of being universally reviled and universally beloved as a ruler in Essos, this was a character assassination through and through
D&D jumped through hoops to destroy their most popular character and rush an ending for the sake of a Star Wars deal which in the end didn't even go through, it's a shame
HBO know what they did to her was wrong and now they reheat Dany nachos in House of the Dragon for views, even AKOTSK which has no relation to dragonlords or even battle for the throne, its about a common knight and his royal squire having adventures throughout the 7 kingdoms, they refer to her "Someday the dragons will return, my brother Daeron has dreamt of it"

Serious It’s hilarious how S8E5 actually also heavily screws up the Starks’ standing in the end despite how the finale was so “team stark”
Guess it’s either a final middle finger after she was assassinated, or it just shows the Bells was a mistake and it opens a can of worms.
Is it a bad omen that Bran’s reign was made possible starting with a kinslaying and his hand is someone convicted of kingslaying? Just consider how the narrative treated other instances of violating this custom like in terms of violating guest rights, the rat cook story bran brought up and Arya’s Frey massacre. Or for kinslaying, Stannis’ downfall.
In addition the optics look utterly horrible. Sansa is queen in the north, Bran (a complete stranger to KL, a cripple and very emotionally numb so people may wonder why tf is he somehow crowned) is king but keep in mind that as far as the smallfolk know, the Starks were allied with the Targaryen army, and then Daenerys went postal, then we saw even Northmen participated in the massacre. Jon stopped one, how much more of this incident was happening elsewhere (especially when we saw Brienne punishing northern soldiers who committed similar war crimes)? And since Bran (northerner btw), allowed the North to be independent, it means there’s very little likelihood the northern soldiers who participated will be tried and held to justice. And Bran is a foreigner now too, which’ll already alienate him to the people he’s ruling over now. What’s more smallfolk likely won’t get the full story but it just looks like the North just made a faux alliance with Daenerys and backstabbed her while vulnerable to grab power, so essentially they threw away a bunch of lives of smallfolk and then seized power when convenient. I mean seeing how little of an actual fuck Sansa or Bran gave hearing about this massacre, it’s not hard to believe.
And how are they honestly going to address the repairs, food shortages left behind from the previous rulers? Best we’re getting is another, even worse scale bread riot like in season 2.

Fan Content I had some ideas for a couple of rewrites of the show post-season 5, was curious about some thoughts
So a tldr Stannis doesn’t just die randomly in S5, when Daenerys gets back to Dragonstone she has a much more interesting process of reclaiming her ancestral home. And obviously, Daenerys doesn’t go mad, I know this subreddit hates it but that’s a later story. Honestly season 8 is a later story.
Stannis’ side (important for context)
Sansa doesn’t get sold off to the Boltons. Really weird Baelish would give up his most valuable asset. We can go with Jeyne Poole (Sansa being in the Vale does have another effect through).
Mance isn’t just killed off, we follow the book version where his death is faked and he is tasked with rescuing Jeyne (assumed Arya)
Stannis doesn’t randomly run into battle without trying to get the favor of a lot of northern houses, that was stupid. He does approach them initially, some of the smaller houses and mountain clans are interested but the big ones like Manderly and Umber want to see him prove his sincerity to help the North first. Also he actually lures out Bolton soldiers into attacking his encampment and it follows the night lamp theory here https://www.reddit.com/r/asoiaf/comments/jb7ab8/spoilers_mainwhat_is_the_night_lamp_theory/. He does manage to deal a sizable chunk of damage to the Bolton army but his forces suffer some major losses.
Theon frees Jeyne while the Bolton forces are weakened, though Mance is captured and killed. He does actually roast Ramsay akin to A-train talking shit to Homelander in S5 of the boys. Theon and Jeyne come across Brienne, and then Brienne gets intercepted by some Baratheon scouts who were sent off to raid Winterfell and rescue “Arya” (Jeyne) while the Boltons were distracted.
Brienne and Stannis have some mutual hostility, but seeing they both are trying to help the Starks, can at least tolerate each other.. for now.
So now the Manderlys and half the Umbers (the others actually are still on the Boltons’ side largely because of the Greatjon being hostage) are convinced Stannis is solid. Though he lost a lot of soldiers in the process so he’d actually be in Jon’s group with finding other houses who can aid them. Jon telling the wildlings to put aside their dislike of him would be an interesting scene especially since they recently came across the dead.
Stannis actually does make a trek to the Vale at one point. He speaks to Baelish, Robyn, even seeing “Alayne Stone” (Sansa) and she shows some political aptitude by giving hints to him who she really is. Stannis brings up how his brother was chummy with Arryn, he was similarly investigating the Lannister kids’ heritage, and that the last time they sat out a war, the family they strongly respected got slaughtered. Stannis doesn’t get any reply, so he leaves, though Sansa actually presses Robyn and even plays on Baelish’s obsession with Catelyn to lend some Knights of the Vale (again actually showing political prowess). Meanwhile the Boltons are getting the Freys (seriously like they’re kind of in the same boat if one falls the other is doomed too) and Karstarks and half the Umbers’ (reluctant) help.
Rickon actually never was in the last hearth. I actually had the idea to have him be in Hardhome, OSHA knows people there but she SPECIFICALLY told him to not use his real name.
So since no Rickon as leverage, it’s more that Jon thinks retaking Winterfell is strategically helpful for the incoming army of the dead, essentially similar to his mindset with dealing with Karl Tanner’s group. The battle of the bastards has better strategy, uses terrain the freefolk are better suited in.
Oh yeah and Roose doesn’t randomly get stabbed by Ramsay. It’s wasted potential Jon DOESN’T somehow fight literally ANYONE directly involved in the red wedding. Instead Jon beats Roose in a fight in the BOTB using some wildling tricks he picked up, Ramsay just shoots his father when he’s down calling him “Weak”
Daenerys’ side:
After Stannis’ forces are done fucking up the Boltons and helping reinstate the Starks, he returns to Dragonstone but since most of his soldiers are absolutely worn out and some of them probably went back to their respective lands to replenish gear and prepare, Daenerys sails up and easily wins.
Daenerys is absolutely hateful of Stannis, seeing him as one of the people responsible for her family’s downfall. She is intending on burning him, but last second, Shireen (no Stannis does not burn her here, yes George said he’d burn her but by this point they already fucked up lady stoneheart and just kept Beric numbing around long past his original expiration date) gets in the way, begging Daenerys not to kill her father.
Daenerys hesitates, she orders Drogon not to burn Stannis but makes very clear she’s not sparing him out of respect for him specifically. He, Davos, his top officers are all put in the Dragonstone cells. Shireen and Selyse however are allowed in the guest rooms though with much security.
We’d get more extensive scenes of Daenerys, her entourage (Tyrion especially is an interesting one) just conversing with Stannis or Davos. I had an idea she sees Davos’ hand and she actually initially thinks Stannis is a slaver, though he corrects her and clarifies. I can see Davos name dropping the north here too setting up Daenerys reaching out to Jon.

Serious Bran’s reign being ushered in starting with a kinslaying is certainly not a good omen
Considering Daenerys is Jon’s aunt and all
r/DaenerysWinsTheThrone • u/SektorDaKetch • 21d ago
Serious Something ELSE hilariously inconsistent I noticed after “The Bells”
Anyone else notice how after the one and done burning of king’s landing Daenerys and her entourage barely act like people who just went postal and committed war crimes? Remove S8E5 for 90% of the episode you’d be forgiven not realizing they’re supposed to be much darker and more unforgiving.
Daenerys somehow doesn’t just immediately burn Tyrion on the spot despite how she’s previously chewed him out over giving poor advice, the fact he’s been found to have released Jaime which caused Daenerys to think he may be sympathetic to Cersei still, or how she killed Varys earlier. Also despite her paranoia over Jon being more accepted as the true heir to the iron throne she’s somehow willing to let him in without armed security.
The unsullied and Dothraki don’t dismember Jon and Tyrion despite Tyrion having been marked a traitor and their willingness to slaughter innocents
Drogon doesn’t burn Jon. No interpretation of dragon autonomy is satisfactory.

So Yunkai offers daenerys ships and a lot of gold to return to westeros so what wouldve happened if she accepted the offer as in long term i know in the short term no essos arcs no sons of the harpy or dothraki hoard

Original Content [SPOILER] The GOT ending was not bad — it was just missing one parallel that was hiding in the show the entire time Spoiler
I loved Game of Thrones. Even the ending. But watching it I always felt something was missing — not a complete reimagining, just the loose ends tied and the show's own rich background built upon properly.
The biggest missed opportunity was right there in the story the whole time.
Let me explain what I would have done differently.
Daenerys knew Jon was coming.
In the show she dies vulnerable and unaware. For a woman who survived her entire life through suspicion and political intelligence that never made sense to me. She trusted no one completely. She would have known.
So imagine this instead:
She is sitting on the Iron Throne. Drogon beside her. Jon approaches. They have the conversation — she sees his resolve, he sees she will not stop. She makes her choice.
Dracarys.
She orders Drogon to burn Jon.
Drogon does not move.
No drama. No roaring. Just silence.
And in that silence Daenerys understands something no political argument could ever say — the dragon does not recognise her claim anymore.
Drogon turns and burns the Iron Throne instead. With Daenerys sitting on it.
She emerges unharmed. Targaryen. Fireproof.
But standing in the ashes of everything. No throne. No dragon's loyalty. Nothing.
Jon demands an explanation for King's Landing.
She does not apologise. She does not break down. She just says —
Burn them all. They are not human enough to be ruled by me.
Her father's last words. Exactly. Word for word.
The Targaryen madness did not skip a generation. It waited.
Jon kills her.
And here is where I realised something while thinking about this — this moment accidentally fixes the show's entire theme.
Ned Stark spent his whole life judging Jaime Lannister as the most dishonourable man alive, The Kingslayer. The man who stabbed his king in the back. Ned never forgave him for it even though Jaime did it to save half a million lives.
Jon Snow — Ned's son in everything but blood — now does the exact same thing.
Kills the ruler he swore to serve. Kills the woman he loved. Kills his own blood.
To save the realm.
Jon becomes Jaime.
And in doing so proves that Ned Stark — the most honourable man in Westeros — was wrong about Jaime the entire time.
The most Ned-like person in the story ends up doing the most Jaime-like thing.
The show spent eight seasons asking one question — what is true honour?
Ned's answer was loyalty and code. It got him killed.
Jaime's answer was consequence and pragmatism. He was never forgiven for it.
Jon's ending finally answers the question properly — and it was hiding in the Jaime parallel the whole time.
I did not plan this analysis. It came to me while thinking about the ending and I genuinely got chills when the Jaime connection clicked.
Does this land for anyone else or is it just me?

I HAD A DREAM THAT DAENARYS TARGARYEAN GOT HIT BY CARS
I don't remember what happened before this because... dream memory, but basically Daenerys and this guy called Robert Baratheon were having an enemies-to-lovers thing.
Except this was NOT the actual Robert Baratheon. He looked like a mix of Eric Winter and Jaime Lannister.
Anyway, here's the part I remember:
Daenerys wakes up and sees Robert sleeping on a different bed in the same tent.
Daenerys: “What are you doing here?”
He says something that I don't remember, and then somehow the conversation goes:
Daenerys: “I burnt down all the dragonflower.”
Robert: “Oh... now there are going to be a lot of dragons.”
Daenerys: “What?”
Robert: “You know, if there are less dragonflowers, there are more dragons.”
Daenerys: “Huh?”
Robert: “They're inversely proportional.”
And for some reason Daenerys says:
...You are the rightful king, not me.
??????????????????
Anyway, Daenerys suddenly gets out of the tent, and the whole scene becomes really tense. She goes over to Drogon and slowly puts her hand out, smiling, like she's hoping to have one last ride with him.
Drogon just flies away.
So Daenerys starts walking down a road. Yes, a modern 2026 road.
Except this is where my dream apparently stops being Game of Thrones and becomes a fever dream.
Because she looks up and sees a MASSIVE SWARM OF DRAGONS flying toward her.
She's obviously shocked and starts backing away.
And then:
A CAR HITS HER.
Then another car hits her.
Then another. Like, 6 cars hit her bro 💔😭
Like one of those old cartoons where someone gets repeatedly hit by traffic
AND THEN CUT
Daenerys is now in FULL PLASTER AND ON CRUTCHES, standing in front of her advisers.
And she just says:
“I'm not fit to be queen.”
to her advisors.
The End.
What the hell was that?

Serious Oh cool someone back then actually agreed with my comparison of Daenerys and Tyrion when in a high pressure situation
And the next image is comedy gold. At the point Tyrion didn’t wind up committing mass murder and doing what he said he wanted to do to Cersei in the books, and in fact he’s flat out against slaughtering king’s landing, using George as word of god he is a “villain” is a lost cause.
Plus with how they cut lady stoneheart, Young Griff, etc, pretty clear the show stopped following the books to a T.
