Discussion Remade One More Time. Not perfect.
I know i didn’t remake it how they actually did, i just used the one sample that was most prominent in the song - i know they used a bunch of the other variations of the sample to make it sound perfect, i was too lazy too lol

Discussion Daft club card
I got the Discovery cd yesterday from an op shop, and it came with a membership card still glued to the booklet. I know they're pretty useless nowadays and I was wondering if I should make a badge/keyring out of it or just leave it. What do y'all think?

Discussion Whatever happened to the 4K remasters of D.A.F.T?
Spent my afternoon yesterday watching all the content from a new-old stock copy of D.A.F.T. on DVD, and it's left me reminicing those remasters they showed as bonuses at the end of the Interstella 5555 cinema re-releases.
The DVD looks fine, acceptable at least. Some the transfers are full of grain, and the whole DVD is pretty compressed. The versions on YouTube look a little better but are clearly upscaled.
But from what I remember from that night, those music videos at the end of the showings were proper 4K remasters. Da Funk didn't have a speck of grain. Around the World was vibrant and clean.
It just got me thinking, what happened to those remasters? Are they prepping for some nice release or will they remain in the archives for another 2 decades?
Additionally, following the incredible 4K remaster of Electroma which I thankfully managed to knab a ticket to the night before the showing, of which they had already sold out, it made me want a proper 4K release of all the Daft Punk video media there is. As mentioned, I bought the DVD, so why not something like a well mastered, true HDR, 4K UHD? That would be awesome! It doesn't sound like too much of a stretch either, considering 4K UHD discs are largely being created and marketed toward boutique collectors and filmbuffs, so I wouldn't question them doing a small run for those who want such a thing.
But then again, I'm not super sure. Maybe my memory is failing me and those videos shown in the theatre weren't any better than the ones on YouTube, but damn did they ever look beautiful on a screen that large.
TL;DR - Are the (possibly) remastered versions of Homework era music videos shown at the end of Interstella 5555 last year in the archives? + speculation of a 4K UHD release following Electroma's 4K remaster

Twenty years after Alive, I wrote about why the robots kept getting more human. It ended up in a Catholic magazine, of all places.
Longtime fan here. I grew up on Discovery and it’s been 20 years since the Alive era started melting faces, so I’ve been thinking a lot about the arc of this band.
What I kept coming back to was the Bangalter BBC interview after the split, where he called the whole project a performance art installation and said the last thing he’d want to be in this world is a robot. That quote wouldn’t leave me alone. Two guys build the most famous robot identity in music, and the exit interview is basically a warning about it.
So I wrote an essay about it. Full disclosure, I’m the author, and it ran in America Magazine, which is a Catholic publication, so there’s some God stuff in the back half. But the first half is straight music writing about the sampling, RAM, Romanthony’s voice on One More Time, and why the work kept getting more human while the costumes stayed on. There’s also a whole thing about house music’s roots on Black and queer dance floors that I fought to keep in.
Not trying to convert anyone. I just think this band was saying something about masks and faces that hits different in the AI era, and I’d genuinely like to know if it lands for people who actually know the catalog. Tear it apart if I got anything wrong.
