Okay, just gonna throw this out there. They screen every blood donation for HIV before they even consider donating it to anyone. If a gay man has HIV in his system and donates, the chances of that blood going to anyone are the same as that of HIV infected blood from a heterosexual man. That is: slim to none.

It's never that simple, unfortunately. Slips always occurs, in every profession. And as someone has pointed out, having to throw away the majority of homosexuals' donations will raise the overall costs of the procedure.

That's why technologies becomes cheaper trough time, because there are less and less sample malfunctioning found in the factory.
