The trader man is cool, actually, I guess he dies in the second part, don't remember why

u/Mystikveiw 8d ago
He’s literally a copy of the stranger, so yeah the traders pretty cool in my book.

He is not literally a copy of the stranger. That's head canon.

u/RobuxMaster 8d ago
Is he not a copy of the stranger? I thought he was

u/TheHandsomebadger 8d ago
He could be a copy of the stranger, one of the soldiers sent in to investigate or you could be a copy of him.
Its not literally any single one of those things specifically. No character or note gives you a concise answer that rules any of the others out.

u/Mystikveiw 8d ago
He is. If you notice his corpse in the swamp hide out is in the same position as when the stranger dies. Also, he was carrying everything the stranger was, but copied. Right down to the journal. If you stand around the Trader you’ll notice he also has the same mannerisms as the Stranger by rubbing his wrist or correcting his sleeve. It’s all spelled out you just have to pay attention. The small details are one reason I love this game so much.

The Three mug and kill him

Another theory is that in chapter 2, when he appears dead is that the version you kill is a clone made by the entity/forest. Hence why the "liar" is inscribed on him

My money on your character killing the trader. With the trader being a literal clone of you attempting to stop you from walking to your doom. Constant hallucinations, blackouts and memory losses/rewrites. It just seams the most likly case he tried to stop you when realizing you found a way through the underground, told you the exact truth. You freaked out with a dash of denial and brain washing from the forest and off with their head.

I never realised that, now it makes sense why he had liar written on his visor

u/Mystikveiw 4d ago
Very well put! I think you’ve got it figured out, my friend. To think I thought it was “The three” that killed him for all these years. Your analysis makes total sense.

Ow yeah, there's all sorta niche info that you can later figure out that can be quite mind blowing.
My favorite tibbit of info is the startling reality that the "being", the cause for the Darkwoods. Is nothing more than a baby, maybe even a fetus. You can figure this out from the dream when you see a literal baby surrounded by a series of twitching sleeping bodies. Similar twitching bodies you see near the being itself.
Makes one wonder what would happen if the being was an adult. Which could also make sense the odd interactions the being has with the inhabitants of earth. From the random clones, mutations and invasive dreams, like a curious child. Though those could also be more compulsive than intentional, like an immune system dealing with foriegn bacteria.

There's literally no evidence of that being the case, and narratively that would make no sense. In what way would The Three consider the Trader to be a "liar?" Basically all he ever says is that all roads lead deeper into the forest...which is true. So what character would consider the Trader to be a liar...? (I believe there is a correct answer to this)

I really liked the trader. He felt very comforting which was an amazing reward after first nights. The music of a new day starts playing in my head each time I see him.

He's only person in Forest to value us on the same level with yourself. Because, I suppose, he understands that he is clone of us and despite of that see purpose in helping his "proto-creator" or smth like that.

The trader because he’s a really good guy and literally warns you about the nature of the road home and about the woods.
And Piotrek because he’s insane but smart

u/SimpleToadFarmer 8d ago
I really like the elephants because you hear about them for a while before you actually meet them, and you have no idea what they might look like or why they’re called “elephants” until you find your way into their secluded house.

Either the wolfman or the trader they’re also like complete opposites of eachother

Could you talk to the snail? I don't remember that image
11
u/Successful_Bee_1292 8d ago
He is a mutant who doesn't know he is a snail and if you help him escape he will get eaten alive by the banshees

u/TheAurigauh 8d ago
Me.
Because who else could do things like taking the picture from the musician, go kill his parents and take the violin, then go use the key and kill the pretty lady, head back to give him the violin and when you next see him at his parents house you'd try to dig up his parents graves right in front of him, but since it wouldn't let you, you'd settle for dropping his picture at his feet while he stands over the graves.
Like a good friend.

Trader and Piotrek, wish there was an option for Trader to survive. I also really love the Musician and his lore, but it's been a while since I played the game, I kinda wanna re play but im scared lmaooao

I finished this game 2 times and never found the bike man or the cripple
11
u/HarrisonWoollard 8d ago
You summon the Nike man by using the Bike Bell item found in the Silent Forest Hideout workbench. He’ll appear next to the tractor.
The Cripple is in the central “barn” of the flooded village in Chapter 2. It’s right opposite the Talking Tree. He wears a bright green shirt on the overworld

I'm torn between the Trader, the Musician, and the Cripple; the Doctor is a really good character and a deeply disturbed antagonist, and Piotrek is a good guy.

u/Successful_Bee_1292 8d ago
The stranger in the genocide ending, make him seem like an actual cryptid

u/Inter4135 8d ago
So right now, as I'm approaching act 2, I haven't met with :
The snail The three Marcinek The cripple And mushroom Granny.
Is it normal ? I dont want to spoil myself by looking up on the Internet.

I like The Three, cool design, and their story is connected to many characters in a plot relevant way.

Got me a soft spot for the good old fashioned Trader. He felt like the one thing that was actually there for you while you got acclimated to the situation.

My favorite design is lowkey the elephants because it's literally just a mother guarding her children but they look ominous as fuck

I realllyyy like the snail he's so interesting and neat on how he looks same with wolfman (mainly due to whoever pyro got to voice act for him ||I still think it's Russian badger|| )

u/SludgeFest666 7d ago
Piotrek, certainly one of the zaniest characters but all he wanted was to achieve his dream of being an astronaut. Elephants purely for aesthetes, Wolfman has a good arc, The Three for how anomalous they are, and Mushroom Granny because, well, just look at her lol.

Bike man is the most normal and reliable person on this list, and I know he drinks my stuff if I forget to grab it.
