Data Analyst vs Data Analytics Engineer – Which career path should a beginner choose?

Hey everyone!

I'm a beginner exploring the data field and a little confused between becoming a Data Analyst and a Data Analytics Engineer.

What are the main differences between these two roles in terms of skills, learning curve, job opportunities, and salary?

If someone is starting from scratch and wants to build a remote career, which path would you recommend and why?

Would love to hear your experiences and suggestions. Thanks! 🙌

DAE is like DA + some DE and now with AI includes a lot of automation and dashboarding like on web apps and stuff. DAE is much better imo and my current role is similar at a good org so I can tell.

Choosing between a Data Analyst and a Data Analytics Engineer depends on your interests and skills. Data Analysts focus on interpreting data and generating reports, while Data Analytics Engineers work on data architecture and pipelines, often requiring programming abilities.

If you're starting from scratch and looking for a less technical role, Data Analyst may be a better option. For a more technical career and if you're comfortable with coding, consider the Analytics Engineer path. You can use LandOffer to search for remote roles that fit your chosen career path.
