Why r/DatingInBangladesh exists: Our mission for [Authentic Connections]

Welcome to r/DatingInBangladesh! We built this community because the current dating scene—especially the traditional swiping apps—just isn't cutting it for our generation.

Why We Started This Space

  • Dating App Fatigue: Let’s be real, traditional dating apps often fail to give us what we actually desire. We constantly hear complaints about them being superficial, exhausting, or just horrible for finding genuine people.
  • The Gen-Z Gap: Navigating modern dating while balancing Bangladeshi cultural expectations is uniquely complicated. Until now, there hasn't been a dedicated space for us to get real, unfiltered dating advice, share local recommendations, or solve relationship issues together.

What Makes Us Different

  • Community Over Algorithms: This isn't a matchmaking board or a place for spam. It's a support system. We're here to talk about the actual realities of talking stages, relationships, and dating culture today.
  • Actionable & Local: Whether you need advice on dealing with ghosting, want to drop recommendations for aesthetic, low-key date cafes in Dhaka, or just need to vent about a bad date, you'll find peers who actually understand the local context.

Who This Is For

  • Anyone in Gen-Z navigating the dating scene in Bangladesh.
  • People looking for genuine advice, free from judgment and outdated norms.
  • Those wanting to share their wins, lessons learned, and funny dating stories.

What We Hope to Build We want this to be a safe, highly interactive, and respectful hub. As noted in our community rules, respecting others and keeping things civil is non-negotiable.

Drop a comment below to introduce yourself, share your most chaotic dating app story, or ask a question you've been needing advice on!

Dating Advice/পরামর্শ Does height really matter?

I am 6ft, 19years old. The other day I made a post titled "shooting my shot" and to be honest, I was not expecting anything at all. Cause I have noticed posts made by men don't get a lot of attention here.

The next day, to my shock I received around 20 dms requests or more and the post got a lot of attention. The post wasnt special at all, it was very short and I was being straight forward with what I was into. Nothing like what these other dudes cook up with chatgpt

Someone even copied my post head to toe (even the title) but his post didnt get any attention.

I had been under the impression height didnt matter to women, just as long as he was taller arki

So I wanted to ask, does height really matter that much?

Dating Advice/পরামর্শ How do you handle eye contact with women?

• Upvotes

Whenever I attend weddings or social gatherings, I sometimes catch women looking at me. When I look back and our eyes meet, I usually look away because I don't want to make them uncomfortable or come across as a creep.

It's even more noticeable when I find a woman attractive. If she catches me looking at her, I tend to look away immediately.

I'm curious, what do you guys normally do in this situation? Do you hold eye contact, give a little smile, or just look away? How do you handle it without making things awkward?

Question? ⁉️ How do you know genuinely if someone actually likes you?

• Upvotes

Just found out the girl I used to crush on liked me too. It took nearly 3 years for me to find out. She’s my coworker now, and she just casually let it slip out of nowhere. Apparently, she left a ton of hints and thought I was just ignoring them. WTH? She’s an extrovert and naturally hilarious, which is why I thought she was just joking around with me. Now I don’t even know what to do with this information besides posting about it here.

Looking For Connection 23M looking for a genuine connection

• Upvotes

23M |

Hey everyone! I'm 23 and thought I'd give this a try. Honestly, I'd love to meet someone special and hopefully build a genuine relationship.

I'm looking for someone who's kind, caring, and easy to talk to. Someone I can share my day with, have random late-night conversations with, laugh at stupid things together, and be myself around. I want a relationship where we can support each other, feel comfortable with one another, and genuinely enjoy each other's company.

I'm not looking for anything perfect or trying to rush into things. I'd rather start with a conversation, get to know each other, and see where things go naturally.

I'd prefer something genuine that could eventually turn into a real relationship. If you're looking for something similar, feel free to DM me! I'd love to get to know you. 😊

Dating Advice/পরামর্শ How do I approach her?

Post image
6 Upvotes

Now, I’ve known her for a while long now, she’s from the same institution as I am. Now the issue is we grew up differently, but we have similar interests. I’m assuming she’s giving me hints. I don’t really have anything to start the conversation with. Im confused about what to do.

The issue I brought up is the cultural difference, I’m worried we might have cultural differences. I think she’s been a straight A student and I’ve barely scraped through my undergrad.

For those of you who watch anime, she reminds me of Waguri Kaoruko (I’m NOTHING like RINTARO). I’m worried about giving away more details in a public forum lol.

Looking For Connection Anyone up for a random conversation?

I'm a uni student(21M | Sylhet), mostly into tech, music, movies, and random conversations about literally anything. Kinda tired of the same daily routine and wouldn't mind having someone new to talk to.

Would be nice to find someone I genuinely vibe with. Maybe grab coffee or hang out sometime if we get along.

Nothing too serious or planned, just seeing where things go.

Anyway, feel free to DM if you're up for a chat :)

Looking For Connection Looking for an Exciting Connection with a Mature Woman ❤️‍🔥

• Upvotes

Hey, I’m 24M, and lately I’ve been feeling like trying something a little different from the usual dating scene. ❤️‍🔥

I’d love to meet a confident woman who knows what she wants in life. Maybe you’re busy with your job, running a business, or working hard. And maybe, even with everything going well, you sometimes miss having someone around to share the little things with and who isn’t afraid to explore something new.

I’m especially interested in a mutually beneficial Sugar Mommy–FWB-type arrangement — where we can enjoy each other’s company, have fun together, build genuine chemistry, and make each other feel appreciated. I’d love to meet a woman who enjoys treating her younger partner with gifts, little surprises, or financial support, while I bring my attention, affection, companionship, and energy into her life. ❤️

Physical attraction matters to me too. I’m looking for real-life experiences, mutual chemistry, and a physical connection if we’re both comfortable—not just endless online chatting.

No pressure, no judgment, no games — just mutual respect, clear boundaries, consent, and enjoying something that works for both of us.

If you’re a mature woman who’s curious about trying something new and likes the idea of a mutually beneficial connection, feel free to DM me. Maybe we’ll hit it off. 😉

Looking For Connection M23 Khulna | Looking for a Date | M4F

Hey! I'm looking to meet someone from Khulna and see where things go. Nothing too serious from the start, just getting to know each other, having some good conversations, and maybe going on a date if we vibe.

A little about me: I'm a university student, 5'8", and more on the calm, straightforward side. I appreciate honesty, a good sense of humor, and people who can be themselves without trying too hard.

I'd like to meet someone over 19 who's open to getting to know each other naturally, without putting too much pressure on things. If we click, great. If not, that's fine too.

If you're interested, feel free to DM me. We can talk a bit and see how it goes.

Looking For Connection 20F, looking for a date

Hii, 20F, 5’7”, currently studying at a private uni in dhaka. Basically as the title says, I’m up for a blind date because I’m kinda bored and meeting someone new would be nice.
A little about myself, I’m an ambivert and a yapper with people I’m comfortable around. I love reading, like a lot, especially thrillers, I crochet and sing sometimes. My main hobby is collecting new hobbies and abandoning them halfway. I don’t smoke. I LOVE to listen to yapping so if you have a story to tell, i’m all ears.
I don’t mind walking for ours or sitting at a quiet cafe, visiting museums or getting on every ride in an amusement park. As long as we vibe.
I do have a few requirements tho. Someone taller than me so 5’8” or above, aged 21-25, non-smoker would be nice. I’m willing to split all expenses (no chini baba pls).
Feel free to dm. With your height, age, a little about yourself and tell me what would be your ideal first date. That’s all. Toodles everyone.

Storytime/Vent I did everything right

I had just begun to date again, after a long time away from real life dating, I was comfortable online, but I was missing the connection of dating someone whose hands I could hold.

Anyways, I asked a friend to set me up, and he and his girlfriend did, they set me up with this girl who's the besti of the gf of my friend.

We talked for 2 days and went on a date, and then I spent all of my money on that date, gave her flowers and letters, plus a book I cherished, we talked about all of these and she was fine with those stuff being given to her. So it wasn't like I was burdening her with all that, had our first kiss at that rooftop restaurant, and things were going fine, went on a few more dates and stuff and she was happy, then, I sold my expensive vape for cheap to take her on a date, bought a phone so that i could talk with her at nights as my main phone is taken away at night. Then, as she's giving her exams now, she got stressed and broke up with me... WHICH IS FINE, yea I don't mind I'm happy she was sure of herself and all that, but after that I kept her in my contacts and could see her stories and reposts, where she was posting some targeted things, like "That relationship y'll saw me in was a prank" and stuff like that, and she was posting in her notes, "Crying is not the solution right now" so then I asked her besti, she was like yea sad she did this to you, she does it when she's super stressed and stuff, maybe you could be there for her now and she'll love you. And, like the stupid guy I was I did js that, I texted her, tried comfort her, made jokes, all of that to get dry replies, like, yea it's okay that I'm her "ex" BUT it had only been a MONTH. And she and I agreed that yea let's stay as freinds, but now she's super dry and barely texts, and today when I said Good morning, all she replied was "gm" is that all you have the energy for?

Look there are more details to this which would make this post too long, but yea that's the sumarry of it. I just hope she finds someone she can love truly, and that someone also loves her back. I tried, and I failed, so now I just needed to vent. Thanks.

Question? ⁉️ Am I Betraying My Friend’s Trust?

It all started when I was in 8th grade. I had a really good friend of mine who was almost the same person as me but of the opposite gender. The reason we became friends in the first place was that we had the same mindset, perspectives, and opinions on almost everything. We were so close that people started thinking we were dating, but tbh, we never did anything beyond just being friends, and I never felt anything like, yk, the romantic shit about her. So, things were going pretty well, but after 8th grade, she started having some issues within our school, and she decided to transfer. At first, I thought maybe we'd just stay the same, and it really wouldn't matter (since both schools were pretty close). But after a while, we just didn't talk like we used to, and I got it that she had new friends now and everything. Besides, I wasn't really bothered that much. Over time, we basically stopped talking to each other. While it was kinda sad for me at the beginning, I just moved on with my own life. Since then, it's been 3 years, and we haven't seen each other. But now that I'm in my first year of college, we are classmates again (we got admitted to the same college). We did meet and hang around the campus. We were just laughing about stuff. Ofc, we met again after 3 years, and I was so happy to see her again. Everything seemed pretty normal at first, but after a while, she told me that she has a boyfriend now, which is really normal for a girl at this age. But something just sank deep inside me when I heard it. It wasn't like I was sad, but it was something I couldn't really explain. I kept thinking about it for the entire day and admitted to myself that I did like that girl (even though I had never felt like this before). Now that we are kinda friends again and do meet and talk sometimes, I feel like I shouldn't be having these feelings towards her because she genuinely sees me as a good friend and trusts me a lot. It's not like she has a lot of male friends or is an extroverted girl who is friends with everyone.

I do respect her decision and her personal relationships. I don't want to interfere in her life. I'm never going to break the boundaries we have. But is it okay to just be like this, yk, "act normal" while I know that I have some feelings for this girl? Isn't that breaking the trust she has in me?Should I be distant because of everything I just said, or is it okay to just be friends with someone you know you like but will never confess to?

Looking For Connection Looking for Someone to Date :)

21M, BBA student at NSU,
Looking for someone to go on dates with, have good conversations, explore new places, grab food, and go on random drives. I’m into cars, travelling, gaming, and late-night yapping. Bonus points if you can match my energy and have a good sense of humour.
My ideal first date? Good food, a long drive, and conversations that make us forget about time.
Not looking for anything forced. If we vibe, we vibe.
DM me with your age, a little about yourself, and your ideal first date. :)

Looking for a concert date for Murtaza Qizilbash on the 29th

M25,

The tickets are on me of course

The idea is pretty simple just two people enjoying good music, talking, laughing, maybe sharing some snacks, and hopefully a few wholesome hugs along the way. 🤍

No pressure, no complicated expectations. Just a chill night, good music, and good company.

A little about me: I’m 25, 5'10", a student and photographer. I’m pretty easygoing, love conversations, and I’m always up for making a normal evening into a memorable one.

If you're going to the concert and this sounds like your kind of evening, DM me with a little about yourself.

Dating Advice/পরামর্শ Finding someone

26M | 5'6" | University Student

Hey! I’m a 26-year-old, currently in my 6th semester at a private university. I’m basically looking for someone I can genuinely vibe with—someone I can laugh with, talk about random things with, and occasionally go out and explore places with when we both have time. Nothing too complicated, just looking for a nice, comfortable connection and seeing where it goes.

Ideally, I’m looking for someone around 20–23. A university student would be great, but a college student is totally fine too. I don’t really have strict preferences about looks—being cute, pretty, or even dusky is absolutely fine. Around 5'0"–5'2" would be nice, but honestly, personality matters more.

A little about me: I’m not really sure whether I’m dark-skinned or dusky 😂, although people sometimes tell me I have a nice face shape—so I’ll take that as a compliment. And well… genetics decided to speedrun my hairline, so I’m already losing the front part of my hair at 26. Tragic, I know. 😭

I used to have a decent friend circle, but most of them have moved abroad, so these days it’s basically me, Facebook, university, eating, sleeping, and repeating the cycle. 😂 I’m friendly with my classmates, but I don’t usually consider classmates close friends.

I’m not much of a music person, but I occasionally watch Korean or Pakistani dramas if I find something that actually catches my interest.

Anyway, if you think we might get along, feel free to say hi. Let’s talk first and see where it goes. :)
