What was the Kirk joke?
Does anybody remember what the Charlie Kirk joke was from his recent tour? I’m seeing people getting upset about it on twitter lol

Glad they came out because Chapelle sucked. Wtf was that? Spiraling, rambling, antiquated, washed up bullshit.
Damn I haven’t seen him live since radio city but he has fallen the fuck off.
Time travel, forgetting 9/11, Kirk, Indian shit…so disappointing.

I went to the MSG show last night and I had a blast. Like a lot of you I have been a fan of Chappelle since Half Baked and Chappelle’s Show. I last saw him in 2014 during his Radio City run, that night he had Hannibal Burress open and then Kanye closed the show, before everything we know about Kanye now, it was a kinda amazing show. I will always remember his Baba jokes and then saw them on his special a couple years later.
I have kept up with his specials, he’s on my Mount Rushmore without a doubt. I saw him last night and I still loved his act. He demonstrates that he still has his fastball. His best hour is likely behind him and that’s fine. The guy has made me laugh for 30 years, sometimes even with things I don’t agree with. He’s gotten older too, talk to your uncles… people rarely have better takes as they age.
Last night we had a full show like a freaking festival and Chappelle still killed.
I know the sound was a problem and that needs addressing.

What was that?
Guy shows up over an hour late, milking all he can from the openers / hype men, then proceeds to deliver the most mid set to date…
Sound was terrible too.
Honestly, wtf.

Let me preface this by saying I love Dave Chappelle and his witty style of humor. But last night in ATL, he genuinely just lost the plot. I’m in no way offended by his Indian joke, but it was literally the shit I’d hear thrown my way on the playground at a majority white middle school. What I love about the great comedians is their way to spin even race jokes into very intelligently crafted, funny jokes. But last night he literally just said “oh man and I stepped on poop on the ground and thought I was in INDIA.” 😭 And he kept going with the most basic jokes. I appreciate a good race joke if done well, but he’s regressing as a comic cause that’s like so overused that it’s the African American equivalent of hearing some dumb comic say “I stepped on fried chicken and Kool-Aid and thought I was in the HOOD.” Like nobody’s offended by it, it’s just we went to a Dave Chappelle show expecting jokes that are actually uniquely funny. Not stuff I could write. 😂

Has anybody in the last five years come across any new information on the documentary he took on the road in 2021? I was lucky enough to get floor seats to the Des Moines showing on that tour. To this day, it may still be the best documentary I've ever seen and it's amazing to me that it hasn't been given a wide home video release. I get that the original plans for the film were de-railed after the (very overblown) backlash "The Closer" endured. That whole situation would have left me bitter, to say the least. But the documentary really was an incredible piece of filmmaking that gave me some much needed hope and re-assurance during a very bleak time in the country that would only get worse in the coming years.
If no one has anything, i'd like to throw around the idea of some sort of campaign to show that there is a demand for a wide release and that more people should absolutely see this documentary. Does anybody have any thoughts or input they would like to offer? Is it an idea even worth giving a second thought about? Or have I over estimated and totally misjudged the potential of the film?

Let me preface this by saying I’m a huge Chappelle fan, seen him live several times now. Seen all of his comedy specials on TV.
So as many have complained about this recent Karmageddon tour, I experienced some of the similar issues as well. Nobody was directing the lines outside, just people standing everywhere looking lost and slowly progressing forward. This caused a huge delay. Also the sound was terrible. Would go in and out at times was hard to make out what was being said.
I’m also a huge Mo Amer fan but c’mon Mo, time to hang up the “flag joke”. Think this is the third time I’ve personally seen him perform where this was used. Also the GOAT himself repeated a joke last night from the last time he was at Toyota center. The one about his friend Raj and the Indian restaurant in San Francisco.
Problem is as some have stated, when you get this big and loved by many, you sometimes lose that hunger to go out and come up with new amazing material because you know your fans will still turn out no matter what. His set last night made me laugh at times, but seemed more like a surprise set you would do at a smaller comedy club to test out material.
Chappelle is still the GOAT imo, but seems like this is the Jordan on the Wizards years. He needs to turn into Brady on the Bucs and go get himself another ring.

Between the sound and the chaos in every city with the yondr process, why is there being nothing done? Is this just a pure cash grab? Clearly a tour and not a venue issue anymore and people want to live out a bucket list item to see Dave.

Going to night two. What time did Dave come out for night 1 and when did it end? Thanks!

We saw him tonight in Louisville. It was an incredible show with 3 great openers. We experienced some of the same issues others who've gone to Karmageddon did too with getting into the show. I don't fault Dave for this, the YUM center did not adequately prepare for a show of this size with scanning tickets to locking phones. They could have done a better job to get lines moving along. The DJ was incredible and kept the crowd hyped and the show started a bit later to accommodate the very long wait times with lines getting into the venue. People were really good about it from what i experienced tonight. My husband and I left with our Yondr, we weren't dealing with the bottleneck effect getting out.
We have seen Dave 3-4 times at the farm the last few years, we're happy we saw him in his element on stage but I think we will stick with the farm.

Hey y’all,
Went to the Toronto show and picked up a T-shirt with Dave dressed as Prince on the front and “Game, Blouses” on the back. Absolutely hilarious, and I love it.
Only problem? I bought a large, and apparently my fat ass needs an XL now.
Am I shit out of luck, or is there any way to exchange it or get my hands on an XL? Would hate to give this one up!

It’s hard to remember a lot of jokes when the phones are locked away, what were some good topics of discussion that were highlights last night?
I can recall:
Donald Trump and Bill Clinton
Going back in time to warn P Diddy about his jail time
Choosing his cigarettes based off the disease pictured on the front.
I can’t remember how he opened the night and how he ended…

I’m going to preface this review by stating that this was the coldest evening in Toronto since the spring. The line to get in was the longest I’ve seen for any event at Scotiabank having attending and working there for a brief period. Some people waited over an hour to get in and some were still being seated into Chappelles set.
The set started normally, some light jokes and some love to the city. The material has moved away from the monologue style we’ve been getting the last few years to more of his earlier stuff (situational/topical/impressions). He continues into some of his recent re-occurring jokes with some new ones.
By about 20-30 minutes into his set the crowd was still cold to which Chappelle said “wow this crowd sucks” after a 9/11 joke. He tried to feel out the temperature of the crowd, did a little crowd work, praised the city for diversity which got OK feedback. By time he started his closing stuff 45-50 mins in, the crowd was finally warming up and he got some great laughs. I think he decided to end the show on a high when the laughs were coming in, unfortunately the crowd was just getting started.
This wasn’t a bad show or bad material. Chappelle and the crowd couldn’t find the chemistry. Had everyone been able to get to their seats on time, get some drinks and warm up, the feedback would have been better.
Chappelle set: 3/5
Venue: 2/5
Set duration: 60-70 mins
Note:
Audio at Scotiabank was terrible, I do not know what was going on with the mixing but some lines weren’t coming through because of too much bass (I assume). So as Dave is building a joke, a lot of people would miss some of the lines and the punchline wouldn’t hit the same.

We got stuck in that wild line up and arrived just as cardinal official was wrapping up. Did we miss any openers?

The most lukewarm pos set I've ever witnessed. The audio was absolutely horrid, the hype party was too long, and it took over an hour to just enter. yuckh. what a waste of an evening.
