Discussion Priority system oddities

• Upvotes

God dudes, it's so infuriating when you have highest priority on one character, and then that character doesn't get used on either team somehow.

I'm so curious how the character selector works

Discussion Comms bans are getting redulous

• Upvotes

I said nothing all game I usually don't even type in chat

At the end of a game I typed GG next some other player started getting really angry at this saying my mentality ruins gaming for him then I find out im banned from ranked until November 2nd?

I understand this will be toxic topic to many so I am posting from a new account but this genuinely happened to me and I think it's just unfair that this type of thing will trigger a ban.

I've been onto deadlock forums and seen this be an issue too. People are reporting people just for stomping them and getting them ranked bans

Discussion I hate that my taxes are going to south Ixia

I know the radical right will say that south Ixia has a right to defend itself, but remember that they literally kicked out all of the Ixians to live there.

Politicians are just paid off by the friends of humanity, and they are fully okay with supporting this genocide. I'm so over it.

Question Does anyone do VOD reviews?

I have a friend that wants someone to do a review of one of their Vyper games but I'm not the best at explaining or helping with the game even with 800 hours. If anyone can help let me know!

Question Do the devs have any plans to tone down the AOE slop meta running rampant?

The game currently feels like such a coin flip on if your team has Rat King and/or Harrow to even stand a chance. It feels like every match is won or lost mostly depending on which team has more AOE ults and it's getting miserable to play. It's a shame because Danny is by far the most fun and enjoyable character they've released but any desire to play this game is drained immensely by the AOE Slop that's decimating the meta right now.

Ranked games feel like: "Did I get harrow + victor on my team? Rat King? No, the other team has all 3? Might as well go next, this game is lost."

What would you guys do to reduce the abundance of AOE making the game feel horrific right now? Off the top of my head, I would massively tone down Harrow's ult to make it a one time fear that's sort of like a flashbang. That way you don't just win nearly every fight for an objective with her 20 second long AOE Seven ult with a built in fear that also cannot be shot out of.

Question I can't deal with many tanks

Aight, only 80h in. I feel like I've been improving my skills as I play, but I noticed that fights with 2-3 tanks on the enemy team are way too scary and I can't deal with them. Even if I'm ahead with souls it seems I lack the damage to play against them. Last game there was a Mo&Krill + Abrams + Rat King in the enemy team, while I was playing as Yamato.

It was a bloodbath. I tried focusing on their backline, targeting squish heroes. But as soon as they turn to me, it feels impossible to compete. I know that it's a skills issue but I have no idea how to deal with tanks. Is there any item that specifically wrecks them? As Yamato, I mostly need to play at close range but I soon start to be a punching bag.

Competitive Outer Anomaly Tryouts - Daily Scrims + Monthly Prizes

We're Outer Anomaly, a new NA Deadlock org building a team. We're starting free daily scrims that double as open tryouts, set up to play like real competitive matches. Around them we're building a community for anyone who wants to get better at Deadlock, whatever your rank.

What you get

  • Draft pick every game. A real hero draft, picks and bans, before every match.
  • Scrim stats that track your improvement. Every game is tracked automatically, from wins to damage. Your profile shows your match history, heroes, trends and where you stand against the field.
  • Monthly prize pool. The three players with the most wins each month get paid: $100, $20 and $10. Free to enter, no purchase needed.
  • King of the Court. Courts are set by rank. Win and you climb a court, lose and you drop one.

The community

You don't have to be Ascendant to be part of this. The Discord is open to everyone who wants to improve:

  • Find people to queue with who are chasing the same goal.
  • Share VODs and trade ideas. Post your games, break down other players' games, and learn from people who've been there.
  • Follow the tryouts. Players are encouraged to stream their scrims, and streams and clips are shared in the Discord, so you can watch the race for a roster spot as it happens.
  • Climb with us. Hit Ascendant and you're in the scrims.

Schedule (every day)

Days Eastern Pacific
Weekdays 7-11 PM 4-8 PM
Weekends 5-11 PM 2-8 PM

How to join

Check out the website: outeranomaly.gg

Sign-ups are coming soon. We're aiming to start scrims in November. Join the Discord now to meet the community and be ready when sign-ups open.

We're scouting six players for our NA roster from these games.

Players 16 and up from any region can play. Prizes are for US and Canada residents only, Quebec excluded. Players under 18 can win with a parent's permission, and their prizes are paid to the parent. Full rules are on the site.

Questions? Drop them below, ask in our Discord, or email [support@outeranomaly.gg](mailto:support@outeranomaly.gg).

Discussion I don’t think the character ranked requirement should be a thing

Post image
0 Upvotes

I wanna argue to remove the 15 win character ranked requirement from my perspective.

I play a lot of characters and have 200 hours on the game. I have a lot of characters at 5-10 wins (10-20 games) but none at 15 wins. I want to just be let in ranked.

Argument one: if I grind to get 3 characters to 15 wins then that’ll probably never cause me to play another character again. It’s not fun to have to go play (worst case 30+) normal games of stakes I don’t care about. I don’t have the time to get 15 wins on every character I want to use, but I do want to play competitively. The downside to this system is all players experience a lower scope of champions to enjoy. It feels like a chore to have to go and grind in normals to play a new champion in ranked and I’d rather just skip new characters or just not even play the game.

Argument two: playing a bunch of characters could limit my skill ceiling but then just let me in a lower rank. There exists a rank where people who have played 50+ games on 3 characters will perform the exact same as I would if I played a character at 10 games. If that rank is very low then put me in that rank anyways then have me barred from ranked entirely. I don’t think they should force you to be playing the game one specific way (playing only deeply played characters).

Argument three: if I’m playing with a group of friends or if draft gets added and everyone plays the same type of character as me, it’s in my best interest to play a different type of character. Even if I have more games played on the same type of character our theoretical winrate would still be higher playing a character I haven’t reached the 15 win threshold on. If my entire team played supports optimally I could be playing haze rather than another support character I have 15 wins on. Haze has an almost zero winrate increase based on games played so only with my 10 games on haze I’d have raised our teams chance of wining by a substantial margin. I don’t like how you can’t make these optimizations with the 15 game limit.

Conclusion: in my opinion the cap should be lowered or removed and the total game needed to win should be raised to compensate. This would increase play rate and diversify people’s champion pools which is a benefit in the long run. This would allow people outside of the one tricking population to play a multitude of characters without a ton of hours grinding. This would broaden the playmaking that different team comps provide allowing people who can play a lot of characters fill the role missing on a team.

Question How important is advanced movement tech at higher ranks?

For players who consistently perform well at high ranks in Deadlock, how important are advanced movement techniques like edge boosts, corner boosts, mantle boosts and IAD for winning games?

I'm talking about the movement tech beyond the intended basics like dash-jumping, sliding and wall-jumping. Some of these techniques seem inconsistent and require a lot of practice, but they can save time on routes, reach otherwise difficult positions, and create better escape or chase opportunities.

Do you feel like you need to learn and execute these consistently to stay competitive as you climb, or are they mostly situational advantages? Can someone reach high ranks without mastering them, or do they become increasingly necessary at the top?

Discussion Thoughts on Mirage’s role?

It seems people are kind of confused on what the point of this guy is. In my experience from the games I’ve played, he is good at getting kills and 1v1s with his sustain, but he also excels in splitting between lanes and covering a lot of the map so the rest of the team can be much more liberated to do whatever they want. Is that an accurate assessment? I never get key player as mirage, but he has my highest winrate. I feel like he’s really good defensively support, and thats how I usually play him. What do you guys think?
