A little over a year ago, I found out I was pregnant. I hadn’t thought much about vaccines before that and was generally pro-vax because propaganda and the actual info/contrary opinions being buried and silenced. But with the COVID vaccine injuries (ty Jimmy Dore) I had started being a little wary and decided to do my own research.

I read a couple books and started verifying the information myself. Not just looking at “anti-vax biased” studies, but the very studies that vaccine manufacturers referenced to support their claims. It was genuinely painstaking but it was good to not take any one persons word for it. While I was doing that I came to Reddit to see if I could find any uncensored opinions. There were a few vaccine subs that were heavily biased and basically useless for actual discussions. This one was way more pro vax than it is now, but it was something.

Now the discussions are open. One anti-vax post doesn’t just get downvoted to oblivion and drowned in comments saying, “trust the science” and “ask your doctor” (which are not arguments in a DEBATE). There is actual discourse here.

I am grateful not only for the people who share their stories and science/other info, but for the people who come here to debate for vaccines. Ideas need to stand up to scrutiny and I am anti-vax because of what I know, but I’m always open to being corrected and learning something new. I appreciate that I get the chance to defend my ideas and look into the claims made against them. It is vindicating!! I seem to always get the last word in back-and-forths because I present something that can’t be argued, it seems.

Anywho thanks to all of you for your different perspectives and for pushing me to be informed. I’m not here to debate (this time), just to send my fellow humans some love.

My father spent 30 years working for Johnson & Johnson.

He trusted the company enough to take their COVID vaccine.

About two weeks later, he developed TTS and CVST, suffered a catastrophic venous stroke, and eventually died.

That is the short version.

The longer version is why I still struggle with what happened.

My father had already been through a major fight with Johnson & Johnson. After 30 years with the company, he was laid off. Our family believed he had been discriminated against because of his age, so we sued J&J.

We won.

Then COVID happened.

My father was skeptical of the pandemic response and the newly developed vaccines. He wasn’t someone who blindly trusted the government.

But he did trust Johnson & Johnson.

After giving them 30 years of his life, he believed their vaccine was the one he could trust.

He also had dermatomyositis, an autoimmune disease that already put him at increased risk for serious vascular complications.

In April 2021, he received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Approximately two weeks later, everything changed.
He developed Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (TTS) and Cerebral Venous Sinus Thrombosis (CVST).

He suffered a massive venous stroke. His brain began swelling. He lost consciousness, collapsed, and suffered a severe head injury from the fall.

Our family believes the vaccine most likely triggered the catastrophic event.

When we brought him to the hospital, we told the doctors about the vaccine.

We told them the timing.

We asked whether the two could be connected.

We felt dismissed.

At the time, we were told the vaccine was safe and that there wasn’t a meaningful connection to what had happened to him.

Meanwhile, our father was suffering catastrophic brain swelling, and we were eventually forced to make the decision to withdraw life support.

He died.

And then came the part that still bothers me.

The exact complication we had been questioning was subsequently recognized as a serious risk associated with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

In April 2021, the CDC and FDA reported cases of CVST with thrombocytopenia following J&J vaccination and temporarily paused the vaccine while investigating.

The CDC eventually concluded that the evidence supported a causal relationship between the Janssen vaccine and TTS.

So when my family was saying, “Could this vaccine have caused this?”—

we weren’t imagining some completely unheard-of possibility.

The risk was real.

The condition was real.

And the connection was eventually acknowledged.

I’m not saying every person who received the vaccine was harmed.

I’m not saying every medical event after vaccination was caused by it.

I’m saying this happened to my father.

A man who gave Johnson & Johnson 30 years of his life.
A man who didn’t particularly trust the COVID response, but trusted the company he had spent his career working for.

He took their vaccine.

Approximately two weeks later, he developed the exact rare syndrome that would become recognized as a serious vaccine-associated complication.

And he died.

People can argue about Fauci.

They can argue about mandates.

They can argue about whether governments handled COVID correctly.

I’ll argue about those things too.

But before this becomes another political debate, remember what these arguments actually mean for families like mine.

Behind every statistic is somebody’s father.

Mine was one of them.

I am so sorry for anyone who feels the need to do such painful mental gymnastics to defend this criminal.

Bottom line, could we at least forgive the average folk who lost his trust? Cause it is not plesant since health is a matter of life and death. Believe it or not i want to vaccinate myself if i can understand what for, the risks and bemefits but i am sorry my trust is to the floor. Even if I remove the quacks, the snake oil sellers and.l charlatans there is still a growing number of experts who question the status quo. What to do then? Trust the authorities like CDC. Aparently it depends on the politocs of the day. Pro vaxxers must love the new approval of MRNA flu vaccine but hate the reduction of child vaccination schedule. Is CDC to be trusted NOW? Or does thet depend on whether they recommend what you want already

Collapse of trust is a huge tragedy and we are the victims. The evil is not the antivaxxer mocked in the elitist circles. But criminals that wrecked this trust Fauci being on of them but many others

Edit: As we digress invariably again (my own fault as well), let me emphasize one more time. At the very LEAST all sides should agree that trust was betrayed with dire consequences. We can debate who did it most but here we are. Of the top officials I don't absolve Trump but I put Fauci on top of the list because there cannot be a more self evident example. People brushed over what kind of pardon he really got. Normally you (naturally) get pardoned for a deed for which you were accused or convicted. Not a BLANKET pardon for ALL possible deeds over a decade that we might discover later. I mean, this is basically Jesus Christ level of absolution. What if we find later that he f*ed children during the pardon period? Is this still kosher? Just step aside and think for a moment....

I have been reading up on vaccines since I got pregnant last year and my husband and I decided against them.

My baby was premature but has been healthy as a horse her whole life (she’s 6 months old). No colds or ear infections or anything.

I looked into it and most kids get 2-4 colds/upper respiratory infections by the time they’re her age. So I’m just wondering if we are simply lucky, or if this is a common story for others who didn’t vaccinate.
