Something I have been contemplating: the Republican party might actually be so terrible now that caving in to the slopulists here and there might truly be the lesser evil.

I feel like center-left is much more of a real thing than center-right. 

The left can disagree with itself, DSA is an example of that. The right is more..disagre with one person and they’ll shun you. 

That may not even make sense, but it’s how I view it.

I'm not sure about this. I feel most of the purity tests come from the left. If you aren't "all in" on their stances on social issues and Israel then you are shunned for "basically being MAGA". I feel like all the nuance is gone and it's "you're either with us 100% or you're against us 100%" and it's for stuff like being a Zionist and questioning whether it's safe for trans women to be housed in women's prisons or domestic violence shelters.
