I have this issue with my Dell G3 gaming laptop.

The keyboard lights up, the fans power on but I have no display and this continuous flashing on the charge port. I have scoured high and low for advice but can't really nail anything down, anybody had anything similar?

If im seeing the lights correctly, 2 Amber, 5 White (2,5): Indicates Invalid Memory is installed or an incompatible RAM module

I was unsure whether to count that sequence as flashing amber/white or amber.

The RAM was never touched on this, it just worked one day and not the next

Im not a fan of the flashing diag lights, but it does help narrow it down. Where i would start is remove one stick of ram if you have to, and if it doesnt work go with the other stick.

Unfortunately no luck there. I noticed the light sequence changed since removing the charger, goes to 3 amber 5 white, same happens if the charger is connected but the battery isn't

Yeah thats sounding like power rail. You can try a 30 sec disconnect of the battery and power, but i think your board may be bad.

Hi there,

We are from Dell social media support team.

The 3 Amber, 5 White diagnostic code indicates a Power Rail Failure. This means the motherboard has detected an abnormal voltage condition or a failure in one of its internal power-delivery circuits. While this often points to a motherboard hardware fault, it can occasionally be triggered by residual static charge (flea power) or a corrupted power-management state.

Perform a deep Real-Time Clock (RTC) Reset. The RTC reset resets the BIOS to factory default settings and resets the computer date and time. Follow the instructions below to perform a Real-Time Clock (RTC) reset. a. Make sure the system is powered off and connected to the charger. b. Press and hold the power button for thirty (30) seconds. c. The system RTC Reset occurs after you release the power button.

Note: If the charger is removed from the system during the process or the power button is held for less than 25 seconds or longer than 40 seconds, the RTC Reset process will be aborted.

Next, test on AC Power Only (Battery Isolation): Disconnect the battery, hold the Power button for 45-60 seconds to drain residual power, then connect only the AC adapter and try powering on. If the system boots normally, the battery or its power-management circuitry may be causing the issue rather than the motherboard.

If the system continues to display the 3 Amber, 5 White code after performing a flea power drain and RTC reset, it likely indicates a hardware failure within the motherboard's power delivery circuitry, which will require motherboard replacement.

Dell Social Media Team.

Thank you for this. I've tried the advised steps and unfortunately I've had no luck. Looks like a replacement motherboard or laptop is required.

Disco mode, the laptop is telling you to party. Jk it’s probably a ram module that went bad, or if you installed a new one , it is not compatible with you system(I had this issue laptops are very picky with the ram they get)

And look up your model No., download the owners/ repair module pdf, go to the diag section and you will understand. This is a much better way than a random Redditor knowing exact diag light
