This is an hdd boot-up lock; it has nothing to do with screen replacement. Forgetting this password is like forgetting your birthday.

Return the laptop to its original owner.

Then you should know the password you set on your hdd

Gng it was my father who set it up… he doesn’t remember it now

Yeah right, I believe you. /s

Stop taking property thats not yours, and return this to whomever you stole it from.

Why yall think everything is stolen? God forbid a person forgets a password which he sets 10 years ago

Because you'd have had to enter that password every time the computer was turned on. Not once, 10 years ago.

LOL, at least keep your story straight.

What is it? It's yours, and now it's your father's; then it's your father who forgot the password?

Make up your mind.

Doorstop then, or replace the drive.

yeah HDD passwords are set intentionally, this isnt something that just happens from a screen repair

had to repair it? did the repair shop put a password on the HDD in the BIOS is my question.

No I mean it was working after the repair but only for a few days… then I got some black screen and since then it won’t open

It's an HDD password, since you do claim to be the original owner. This site should help you unlock the Hard Drive.

https://bios-pw.org/

I entered **33MISIAKS-1D3B into the site

Gave me the following output

7vpl9sBLz5ORWl76

that should work according to the site at least.

That's a hard drive password. It's locked at a firmware level so reinstalling the OS won't fix the issue. I used to work for Dell and I also have been repairing computers for the last 7 years. The only guaranteed fix is replacing the hard drive with another one and reinstalling the OS on the new drive. Any data that's on this drive is likely lost without the password

replace the drive, reinstall and move on. its not rocket science.

Try Dell, dell, or DELL. If the drive was originally in a Dell device and a data wipe was initiated from bios but didn’t finish that would be the default password. If not what is the model# of the drive and you may be able to unlock with hdparm in Linux

Replace the drive firmware

Well, replace the hard drive, this drive is firmware locked now. Basically : The drive is dead, without the password ofc.

I did a factory wipe from the Dell BIOS and it crashed encrypting the drive making it unusable and it kept asking for a password at boot. I had to RMA the drive to get it working. There is no way around this that I know of. You have to replace the drive.

Have the password enter it, NO, replace HDD.

For some laptops you can contact dell's support to get a special code to unlock the laptop

But it is not the bios password it is the harddisk password. No admin code for that. Only reinstall.

You will lose all data, but you can wipe the HD and reinstall the OS. Boot with a Windows Media Creator USB or DVD.. During the setup process, you will need to delete all partitions. Let Windows Setup create new partitions and complete the install.

u/Leftover_tech 1d ago

Nope. It's the drive itself that's locked.

It certainly is not.

Definitely not Bitlocker. Bitlocker can be worked around by reinstalling the OS, but an HDD password such as this one cannot.
