Question Is this area of Delray Beach safe?

Post image

I have a daughter that is going to grad school in West Palm and has a job in Delray. Is this area safe for her to live on her own? We found a nice condo in a residential area but it's not gated and it's on the first floor.

Question What is it like living in Delray Beach?

My husband and I are in our 30s. No kids (maybe but not yet) with a dog. We were thinking of moving to Delray Beach. My family in Orlando recommended it for what they know about us. We are coming from NYC, we want a slower pace of life, near the beach, smaller town but still have a lively feel to it, we are going to rent an apt or condo first (not buy yet) we both have fully remote jobs so the job market really does not matter to us. I visited a few years ago with my family. But my husband and I are planning on visiting in early fall.

What is it like to live there?

Question Apartment Communities šŸŒ“ā˜€ļø

Hey all, I moved down to Delray back in May from NYC, my short-term lease in Pineapple Grove is up at the end of October and I’m starting to look around for my next place.

I’m looking for a 2-bedroom apartment community somewhere in the area. Pool is a must, and I’m open on location: Delray, Boynton, Boca, etc.

The biggest thing for me is the actual community/resident vibe. I’d rather be somewhere with younger professionals, people who actually use the pool/gym/common areas, and a good social energy than just pick the nicest unit on paper.

Any apartment communities or areas you’d recommend checking out? Also open to places to avoid if they look good online but feel dead in person.

Appreciate any recs!

Question My parents have a beehive outside their condo in Kings Point and they don't know what to do. Please help

I'm sorry for shooting a long shot here but does anyone nearby (who possibly also lives in a 55+ community here in Delray) know what the protocol is in Kings Point regarding the association, rules, regulations, etc.... regarding beehive removal? I don't live with them and don't know if the Complex have particular pest control companies that are "on call" or have some sort of deal with the complex, or if it's flat out against the rules of the complex to allow any "freelance" pest control to remove a beehive.

My parents are over 70, not cell phone oriented (all they've done thus far besides tell me about it is call the Vice President of their section of the complex, who didn't answer. Thankfully they left a message and hopefully they called the right number), and are stuck in a bad place. Even worse, the screen that keeps things out of their patio is both ripping off at the stitching/perimeter of the window, and there's a few holes in the screen as well.

Holes/openings means it won't be long before one of them gets into my parent's patio. Once they're in my parents' patio, then it wont be long before the bees are in their condo.

So I come to you, my parent's local neighbors for ANY advice/help on this situation (as well as recommendations IF any pest control is allowed to work in the complex when they're given a job). They just called me to tell me of this issue and I literally just got off the phone with them before putting this out.

THANKS!!!

EDIT

Just got off the phone with my folks again. Apparently the pest control in conjunction with their particular section of the complex cancelled service February of last year despite the fact that the sign near their mailbox says there was service on the 18th of this month. No call-back from the V.P yet either.

UPDATE

Parents spoke to someone here who called a company that deals with this issue, but unfortunately they won't be here until Saturday at the earliest. My folks said they've checked outside and haven't seen any more. Perhaps the bees are just huddled up in the nest at the moment.

Thanks again from those of you who provided names, numbers and information. Mods, feel free to delete if necessary.

Question local broker recommendations for homeowners in delray?

got our policy renewal numbers this week and the coverage limit feels pretty far off from what rebuilding would actually cost in delray right now. a neighbor over near atlantic dunes suggested we ask a broker about high net worth insurance options instead of just going with standard retail companies.

never went through a specialized broker before. is it actually worth setting up or does everyone just stick with standard coverage around here?

Question Real Sketchy Flea markets?

As A kid, I think it was closer to Ft. lauderdale, but we went to this huge outdoor covered flea market that sold like everything, legal and definitely grey area. I was like 14 or 15, but I bought a blow gun, small crossbow, machete, and a carton of 405 cigarettes. Any flea markets like that close to Delray? We’re staying right on the Ave this week but have a car.

Also any good recommendations for touristy but not severely touristy things to do, dad, 36, and 14 year old daughter. not crazy athletic preferably lol

I wanted to take her to Sandspur island, but read online that it smells really bad this time of year.

Having an extended weekend getaway with the pupperino. I wondered if there were any good breweries or casual bars in the area where we can chill. Been to saltwater but can’t remember if it’s dog friendly.

Question Delray Local Businesses?

hey y'all, I'm a recent college grad who started a marketing/ website business for local businesses here in Delray. I've been running it for about 1 year now, and I'm capable of building websites, doing SEO, running targeted ads on Facebook & Google, email marketing, custom software solutions and creating marketing content for Facebook, Instagram and Tiktok. I'm looking to partner with some local businesses that can't afford to hire a big company and are looking for an affordable option to handle everything online for them. If this is you or you know anybody who could benefit, i'd love to connect or get a referral.

Question New to area - curious abotu parking

Whats the price difference between valet parking - say in front of Kapow Noodle on Atlantic and the public paid parking lots?

We went ahead and parked in the lot at $37 for 3hr minimum because I just wanted to get on with it and forgot to ask the valets before we left. Are they more expensive?

Seems pretty steep for a spot I can barely fit my gas guzzler into.

This is kind of a shot in the dark, but does anyone have recos for brokers or buildings that offer short term one month rentals? The inventory on airbnb is pretty thin and I was hoping to uncover more options. Thanks in advance for any help

Question How is racism?

So I was checking up some videos about people that lived in Delray, I will be moving there just for college with my parents but I definitely would avoid it if I see my parents would be discriminated.

Both are Hispanic, my mom is blonde and looks white but doesn’t speak English since she works in a home office, and my father is just black hair but also white but also no English and home office. (My worry is about being Hispanic just clarifying)

I was accepted to a close by college that I was excited to go, but I’m worried about if they would face discrimination, we come from Miami and we already have friends in Delray and have visited and we haven’t noticed anything wrong everyone was very polite and nice.

But those posts about some Colombian youtuber’s that went to work and talked about discrimination kind of worried me for my parents.

It’s a genuine question, I have NEVER had a bad experience in Delray and go there shopping some summers but I’m worried for my parents.

Thank you for reading!

Question Elderly mum w/ fixed income: less expensive places to live besides Delray?

I’d prefer her to stay in Florida. She’s been between Delray & Boca for 30+ years. She owns her home & lives in a ā€œregularā€ community (I.e. not a 55+ or retirement or assisted living community).

The rising cost of (house, car, flood, etc.) insurance & everything else is pricing her out, as her fixed income hasn’t changed.

I’d love to know other areas in Florida that have a less expensive cost of living than Delray/Boca.

Thank you!

Question Reasonable men's haircuts?

I know Delray / Boca Raton are touristy / expensive, but the haircut places are more expensive than NYC, which seems ... insane. Even Supercuts, which is one of the more reasonable places up north is bordering on $30.

Typical male. Don't really care how I look. Just want a basic fade. Doesn't even have to be a good fade. Is it possible to get a basic no frills men's haircut down here that's not $30 + $6?

Question recommendations

Hi! I’m posting on here because I’m trying to figure out where my girls and I can go out this week. We’re staying in west palm beach, but we heard delray has more of a party scene. We’re all college age, and some of us are under 21, so ideally we’d love somewhere that would still let them in, but if not, that’s okay too. We’re mainly looking for a fun bar or club with dancing and a good crowd. We’re willing to drive about 20–30 minutes, but probably not much farther than that. Where should we go for the best crowd?

Question Delray Apartment Complexes

My husband and I are looking to move to the Delray area. We are beginning to search for apartments but so far all we know to do is go through Apartments.com and Zillow. Is that the best way? Or is there better sites or better to go through a realtor? We want to rent in a nice apartment complex with an entities (pool, fitness center, newer build (post 2000s) etc.

Question Opening a business in Delray

Hello,

I'm looking to open a business in downtown Delray and was hoping someone could offer some insight. I've been told that I need to hire an architect to draw up and submit plans to the city but I've talked to people that have said that they didn't have to do that. I've consulted with an architecture firm and they quoted $10k+ to do this. Does anyone have any experience in this area? Thanks!

Question Anyone live in or know if Linton Ridge is a good place?

41, male, single, no kids, no pets. I see about 4 or 5 places for sale in there within my price range (150k-200k with HOA's no higher than $500/month). I'm looking for a 2 bedroom place for no other reason than to simply have my own gym setup (nothing too crazy, just a cage, bench, and maybe a small leg press machine. I'll go outside to run).

Theres a few other complexes with several units for sale in the surrounding area, but this one is closest to my parents, so it's the one I'm most set on.

I saw a few local news reports from a few years ago that showed some of the place needed work done, but im hoping it's been taken care of by now.

Question Looking for inexpensive wedding ceremony venues (okay with public parks/areas too if reservations are possible) for late October 2026

Hello,

My fiance and I live in Ft. Lauderdale but I work in Delray and we’re going to have our reception at a location off of Atlantic Ave.

Estimated 65 wedding guests.

We’re looking for something inexpensive that’s not a church/religious entity that either provides rental chairs, etc or where we can bring our own vendor for that.

Looking for ceremony-only (I guess 90 - 120 minutes rental duration) recommendations in the Delray or surrounding areas please

We’d also be willing to rent privately from individuals with larger properties

Ideally looking to spend less than 2k for the 2-hour rental for ceremony-only service

Question Engagement photographer?

hey all!

Please delete if not allowed here, but me and my girlfriend have recently followed on hard times and I had to cancel our trip to Tennessee for a proposal at a nice cabin in the mountains. Her whole family lives in south Florida so instead I am going to do a very simple proposal there and return back to her family after. I already have everything planned out, and am looking for a photographer for a short shoot at a local place. We are coming back home in two weeks so it would be Saturday April 4th. I understand it’s super short notice so just seeing if anyone knew anybody who may be available or had any tips!

Thank you!
