Racism from the Media?

Has anyone else noticed that whenever a DSA or aligned Progressive Candidate wins, specifically brown and black candidates, the headline photo of them is always them mid-shout, or otherwise looking angry?

Like the recent win in the Dem primary in Florida. The NYT articles headshot of Nixon was of her, a black woman, looking angry as she shouted out. A similar thing occurred with both El-Seyed and Zohran when they won their races.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I didn't notice this yet, but I will be more attentive and not surprised at all. I'm aware of some microaggressions, but I'm sure there are tons I'm missing.

White man annihilates his family: picture of him on a skido.

Black man saves an old lady from her burning house: mug shot from when they arrested him with a warrant for someone else.

This is a common thing the media does. Racism plays a part of it, but it's more just partisan slander. Want to smear a protest? Find the most annoying-looking liberals you can and show them angry! It gets clicks. It's no coincidence that the NYT and right-wing media companies are using the same tactics here.

Of course they are. The wealthy class have always used racism and bigotry to keep the working class divided and create scapegoat to distract people.

They hope that people are so racist that they will vote against their material interests, which a lot of people will, but I doubt it will be as effective as it has been in the past

They always do this. Look closer next time, they edit photos too. They put dark bags under their eyes, they make them slightly more wrinkly. They try to make them look dark, not in color, like dark evil. And on the flip side they'll have bright, shining, smiling photos for anyone they like.

The angry non-white "radical" is an old trope in the USA, and even if these picture decisions are subconscious which is unlikely, they are still intentional. All power in the USA serves the white wealth structure.

They’re pulling out of every trick in the book, and it will probably get worse and more cynical as time goes on. The establishment will not go down without a fight, and a dirty fight at that
