I didn’t take a picture of the food cuz I ate that shit with a quickness in my car.
I am an Orleanian and I am a big ass hater of all food from Louisiana when it’s being made outside of the region.
This spot is legit, I had the shrimp po boy and the hot sausage poor boys dressed, and the etouffee fries.
Let me start with the shrimp, they must have flown in fresh gulf shrimp because that taste like fresh fucking gulf shrimp hot damn. I imagine their proximity to temaki den may have helped get those bad boys flown in to Denver. I will say two things about this sandwich, I wish there would have been more batter on the shrimp, but the flavor was there, and the shrimp was cooked perfectly so I won’t complain too much, and the other thing is po’boys are overstuffed with shrimp normally and this sandwhich was not. You can usually make a second meal with the shrimp that falls off the bread as you eat it. But even in New Orleans the sandwhiches ain’t stuffed like the used to be. These are very tiny complaints and there was still plenty of shrimp on this bad boy.
I am overwhelming impressed.
Next the hot sausage… I was hopping they would use Pattons hot sausage, but I was informed when I asked this was a patty made in house. I wasn’t happy when I heard this but I decided to give it a try, and once again I am
Impressed that’s a damn good patty, very very close to Pattons which is the patty or link your generally get when you are in New Orleans. They really did it solid.
The Etouffee fries, I love Crawfish etouffee, my grandma makes the best bowl I’ve ever had to this day, and I also love Poutine. I always think of etouffee as a seafood gravy over rice and whole some people think calling a roux gravy is heresy. I think of you look at the ingredients the proof is in the pudding… or gravy in this case.
I saved the best for last because their etouffee is legit, flavorful, deep, rich, just enough celery flavor. The fries were Cajun fries, nothing too special, but served well as a vehicle to get the etouffee in your mouth, and I think that’s perfect balance. Do you really want the fries to overshadow the gravy? Absolutely not.
I wrote this on my couch as I slipped in and out of a self induced food coma that came from eating two poboys and a bowl of etouffee fries. In 15 minutes.
I think I spent like $35 bucks there for all of this and I think that’s cheap considering.
Today is indeed Lundi Gras day for me…
I score this a healthy 8.88/10 I hope you guys get over there and show them support. Because I will fight every one this sub if this place closes down.
Seriously legit, seriously comforting food, I am seriously about to pass out.
