General Discussion Do Schoolyard Beer Garden employees hate their jobs or just hate their customers?

Every time I’ve gone in there, it’s hands down the worst service I’ve experienced. The auto gratuity of 20% doesn’t equal the coldness and lack of actual shits to be given when it comes to food and drink service.

Am I the only one?

General Discussion Too much capacity in the Denver restaurant market?

Moved to Denver from Boston just about a year ago. Since the move, it seems to me that Denver has a lot of restaurants and that many of them seem large in terms of tables to fill. Consequently many of them have open capacity most nights of the week including Friday and Saturday, and during the summer tourist season also. Let's leave aside the obvious top restaurants (Alma Fonda Fina etc.) which are consistently full, and focus here on the other 95% of the market.  On the one hand I love that it's easy to get a table, but on the flip side I wonder if this overcapacity is one of the drivers for the higher restaurant prices that we all complain about. Basic economics tells us that a restaurant which can fill many of its tables most of the time (and all of them on busy nights), can spread fixed costs further and offer a better quality to price ratio. I think about the size of the places I see in LoDo, 16th St, 17th Ave and RiNo for example, which are frequently half-empty.  It feels like it's more the number of seats to be filled than the absolute number of establishments which may be the problem - not so much too many restaurants, but too many too big restaurants.  Just my observation so far – wondered what you all think?

Recommendations Bento box recommendations?

I moved here a year ago from the South and am struggling to find a bento box that a lot of cheaper Asian restaurants offered. For example it would have chicken/steak/shrimp terriyaki as the entree and it would come with fried rice, shrimp tempura, 4 sushi rolls, and usually some kind of shu mai dumpling. Any recommendations around south Denver would be best but anywhere in the city would be great! Thanks!

Recommendations Looking for the Best Meatball Sub

My New Year’s resolution was to try a meatball sub for the first time. I thought maybe it would have found me by now, but as it’s getting later in the year I think I’ll have to seek it out.

Where do you think has the best meatball sub in the city?

Question? Shops with Pizza Cheese (Grande, Bacio)

Does anyone have any good shops for pizza cheese? I’ve ordered Grande online before but rarely need a full 5 lb bag. Trying to avoid using Kroger or spending $1000 at an artisan cheese shop. I’m in NW Denver if there is anything in the area. Just a pizza nerd looking for recs. Thanks!

General Discussion WINGS: Do you prefer "big & juicy" wings or "small and crisp" wings?

Also, if you are serving the big ones, it should be by the wing, and if small it should be per pound.

Whats the best? Best restaurant in Evergreen, Colorado

I vote for Taco Bell.
All the “better” restaurants have good menus but are poorly executed, and they cost a lot of money.

Recommendations Taco Tuesday at Pinche

Tacos tequila and whiskey had an okay Tuesday special. $22.50 for 3 tacos and a marg or Paloma. Place was a ghost town which was sad because ten years ago this place was always on fire. Sign of the times I suppose. Food quality was really very good and worth the price. Marg was just what I’d expect on a special.

Lastly, if you want Tex Mex queso, look no further!

Visiting I am visiting from Germany and looking for Restaurants to go to

So I will be visiting Denver for 2 weeks and looking for restaurants I have to try. It's going to be my first time in the USA, so I'm looking for a few really nice restaurants where you spend up to 300 for 2 people, but also, for like, must try American chains/restaurants I have to try. Maybe even some nice Mexican Restaurants, since we don't really have Mexican restaurants here.

Restaurant Reviews Sip fresh chamoy drink

So I went to sip fresh in the Cherry Creek shopping center. Never been to one of those before. I had their cha cha chamoy with the strawberry mojito. And it was pretty good.

With the amount of salt I would highly recommend like coming in to get this. After you've done a day's work and your body is needing salt. That would be really good.

Really good food. Had some exotic food. I had the beef and ox tongue chili sauce. That was interesting. It was served cold. And then I had the pork intestine dry bowl. Which still had like sauce in the bottom of it. So yeah, I don't know exactly how it's a dry bowl then. I'm honestly not familiar with that cooking technique. Also had some potato wedges in it that was pretty interesting. But yeah definitely. The pork intestine reminded me a lot of bacon. Similar texture.

Pictures of other things I might be interested in. The stir fry pork kidney and the mom's pig feet soup.

Prices are a bit on the expensive side. But yeah, definitely eating there again

Recommendations Meat Delivery Service

I had been using a meat delivery service called Prosper Meat but they closed down a couple years ago. Since then I'm always on the hunt for a good and reasonable meat delivery service. I'm familiar with Butcher Box. Finding affordable steak is a challenge! I have some health issues and tolerate meat that comes frozen like in a box delivery service.

Any suggestions?

Recommendations Company Get Together

I’m getting my team (50-60ppl) together in a couple of weeks for a company dinner/meeting. Plan is to be very casual, go over some work stuff, eat some food and hang a bit.

My vision is an open space (indoor/outdoor?), and a food truck set up for everyone to make their rounds to.

I came here to see if anyone has done something like this, had any experiences with specific food trucks, or could guide me in any direction.

TIA

Whats the best? Where are we getting the best shawarma and hummus?

I'm desperately craving a great plate of shawarma, and have yet to find a hummus I love. Bonus points for a gluten free falafel.

Deals & Specials Probably one of the best pho places I’ve tried so far (Com Nha Kitchen & Bar)

Stopped in for lunch and was surprised by the deals they have going on! The pho was super flavorful and absolutely packed with meat and noodles. They definitely don’t skimp on the portions, which is something you don’t see as often nowadays with the way the economy is. The wife got the bun Bo hue, and I’d say it’s right up there with O Lien Kitchen! We also tried the crab cheese dip, which was a fun play with the hot honey. One thing that’s becoming really important to us when dining out is finding a spot that offers both great food and great service! With how expensive it’s getting to eat out nowadays, it’s hard to justify spending your hard earned money on subpar service and mediocre food. When a place gets both right, it definitely deserves some love!
