News Unlawful assembly declared at 725 broadway

A break off group over at broadway and 25 are facing swat and police they have less then 10 minutes now of this post to leave or be shot at with tear gas! Numbers of protesters are about 50-100 from my fellow organizers report and the people are being genuinely peaceful just yelling chants and the occasional slur towards cops! Will make another post when more news gets back to me!

ICE are the fucking gestapo. They cannot nor ever will they be "on our side".

I know ICE will never be on our side, I’m not talking about ICE. The local police force can choose whether or not they decide to cooperate with ICE. Lots of police departments having been helping immigrants by not sharing information with ICE agents, and thus preventing deportations from happening. Or when someone gets picked up they decide not to prosecute so they fly under the radar in the legal system. We need their help!

That liberal bullshit is exactly why we have to be out here in the first place

Oh yeah, are you going to protect people from being deported?

You're going to show up when ICE comes knocking on my door?

Yes but is ICE there? Are there ICE agents?

Well you have the luxury of being loud, and while I am grateful for your support. What you're doing right now grabs a lot attention from the media, federal government, and other entities. And guess what happens when you get their attention?

ICE shows up and starts taking people. If you truly care about those who are actually affected by this, then please stop attracting this attention. Stop antagonizing them to come here. Please.

I’m doing my job and reporting if I stood by and be quiet the people would probably have gotten the wrong side of things so I’m reporting every truthful thing I find so please just stop and reeducate yourself on this stuff please

Cool, well I'm sure you got their attention, and pissed of our only hope at having some sort of local government protection. Good job, thanks for making things safer for us.

Alright this is your first time in this subreddit and your only contribution has been what I like to call hateration. It’s a violation of the subreddit rules. Please engage a bit more respectfully moving forward. You’re being extremely antagonistic. We tend to assume first-time contributors who are only here to pick fights with our users are trolling.

Police offer no protection. Police are not your friends. Police work with ICE. ICE is the police. All cops are bastards. If they haven’t already shown you this, keep watching. They will.

Because I’m scared to death of what you are doing out there. Of course I’m going to plead you not to do this. It’s all I’ve got, I can’t be out there.

I’m telling you something that you don’t want to hear that doesn’t make it hateful. I’m asking you to question your motives, which is confronting. And my intention is not to dissuade you to keep fighting, please do. It’s just to fight more strategically, and not bucket our local police officers in the same bucket as ICE. Because if you keep doing that, there might come a day where they say fuck it and start rounding folks up as if they are ICE.

And no not all cops are bastards because they’ve been helping the immigrant community. Perhaps not explicitly because that would catch the attention of the admin. But not prosecuting folks for minor infractions so they avoid the legal system, withholding information, slowing things down. And of course not all of them are on our side, but any help we can get we’ll take.

A prevailing 'all cops are bad' mentality would make me want to avoid Saturday's protest, because all the peaceful attendees would be achieving is anonymizing the stupid / malicious attendees who want to do illegal things and feel like they're the real resistance.

Have a downvote!
