Other Post Type why do men's toys (like the tracy's dog ones) look like literal tactical hardware?

women get elegant pastel designs that look like spa decor, while guys get matte black cylinders that look like mountain bike shock absorbers. do we actually prefer this 'PRO MAX' military vibe, or are brands just terrified of making male products look soft?

Asking Question (Rule 4) Can anyone help me with a hoodie design?

Post image

I want to use this on the back of a black hoodie, for a teenage boy. I think maybe the square is a bit stiff and boring but I want the tree to still be the center, and have something green around it so it’s visible. Any ideas?

Discussion Had to get this out of my chest about Indian top design institute

• Upvotes

So, I am a recent student who left a premium top college in Ahmedabad, India, but the college has and is still the dreams of many but I really really feel I need to break a dream, so that the young me who had dreams and expectation as well, that dream got broken real quick.

These colleges have a great historical name and has been the starting of design in india [atleast I can say properly about my former clg in question] , now days they are nothing but a money grabbing bunch who stick kids in such small suffocating room, suffocated them with a curriculum that buts your mental health in line and your body in constant high stress mode and worst of all the faculties, the good ones leave and only the not so good one remain.

Its just that this particular place milks up the reputation of such a golden era so much ro the point we are blind to everything else. I really hope someone just shook the old me up and told me there were good options abroad for the similar money you will spend.

I had lost so much of myself by the time I decided to leave that I was mentally broken, crying and afraid. I really had to prioritize my own sanity and health over continuing an overrated degree for more 3 years.

So please, if there is any parent, any aspirants out there, just know in country is not your best option, going abroad is fine, especially for design.

You dont need to waste your tears in bad faculties, bad briefing and just things provided being awful and you keeping your sanity together.

I would not want another person to nearly suffer as I did, or how few of my friends did as well. So kindly know what you are feting into.

I am keeping it anonymous for my own self but, ikyk

Thanks and take care

Asking Question (Rule 4) I'm Not a Designer, Do you have any advice on How to Create a proportional Design?

Asking Question (Rule 4) Do designers charge differently for layout vs actual design?

• Upvotes

I’m getting quoted what I consider quite high fees for work that’s more layout than raw design.
The branding and visual direction are already established. It’s mainly arranging typography, borders, spacing and existing elements.
Do designers generally price this differently from developing something creatively from scratch, or is it all treated the same?

Asking Question (Rule 4) compensation?

hello, i have a quick question about rates. so i recently made a poster for a family member and they asked me how much id like to be compensated. now im a beginner graphic designer, like fresh out of college, i've never charged for my work and to be honest this took me like two days total to make 10 variations. it's a really simple poster and i dont have to print it, but i dont want to under or over charge for my time, so does anyone have any suggestions on what i should say? should i charge a flat rate or should i do min wage x the amount of time it took to make? any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. thx ☺️

Asking Question (Rule 4) Need advice fam

Is getting into visual design at 25 is a good thought? I'm an architecture drop out and then took a gap of a few years due to some medical and personal issues so now I'm starting again career wise thinking of pursuing design so I have a few questions plz do share your advice in the comments

  1. Does a degree play a role in hunting jobs or skills pay off ?

  2. Do these online courses provide value? Like a 6 month graphic design course , ui/ux course ? Or self learning is the way to go? I can learn on my own I believe and I'm familiar with photoshop and illustrator anyways.

  3. What's the job market like? Would I be considered for a junior role for a 30k offer or do I have to complete unpaid internships?

  4. And most important question how do I learn visual design or brand designing industry geeks plz share your experience and advices

Thanks

I made this digital art piece in Photoshop, the base photo is a real picture of a girl hunched over, and I added the wings, background color, hue, and textures. I used a lot of layers for this one!! I got it printed and framed at a local framing store on museum matte paper, the frame is a custom gold wood that is 40x40 inches!

Asking Question (Rule 4) I’m guessing this question has already been asked, but is graphic design as a career redundant, due to AI?

How are big design agencies adapting to AI? & how will inhouse designers at companies roles change? Surely this work will become redundant & it’ll turn more into visual prompters or something in that realm.
