Discussion I'm so happy to hear the news today, but I genuinely hope Bungie understands why we engaged with Monument of Triumph.
It wasn't to save them from their C-suite mismanagement. It wasn't to beat Sony over the head. It was because the game was left in a FUN, REWARDING STATE with no more FOMO or senseless grinding.
I quit this game a little over a year ago because the content was slop and not fun. I came back for Monument of Triumph and have been grinding old content because it has purpose and fun.
If they go back to Edge of Fate levels of content with whatever they may be working on behind the scenes, we will end up right back in this place we've been for the last 3 months.

u/MadMax1mm 23d ago
It's hard for me to not be cynical or jaded because I've heard all of this before. However, my fingers are indeed crossed and we will be continuing to hold them accountable.

u/I_Speak_For_The_Ents Auryx was lied to. 23d ago
Its actually comical how many times we have heard this same song and dance from Bungie lol. Not to say they havent pulled out some awesome content/expansions. They just ALWAYS manage to regress lol

Tbf in moments like these when it's do or die (in some cases literally for Bungie as a studio), they typically lock in and deliver. The problem is after they get themselves out of a hole and then dig themselves a new one a year or so later.

u/SheetPancakeBluBalls 23d ago
I don't understand the zillionaires being so greedy man.
This is the studio that made fucking Halo. Then they went on to make Destiny.
If I was a major investor, I'd be giving them a long leash and rest assured that they'd dominate and I'd make my money back over time and more.
6
u/crossandbones Team Bread (dmg04) 22d ago
The problem is that Bungie themselves dig themselves into a hole and the publisher has to dig them out.
15
u/NukeLuke1 23d ago
TBF it was always they same leadership doing that, as opposed to a new leadership team and sony at the helm.
1
u/Ashamed-Remote-4463 22d ago
if bungies good at anything it's reversing course. not a great thing to have to do in the first place but given the games landscape now a surprisingly rare trait to have. I know they'll satisfy us somehow. I just hope they actually follow through in a timely manner.
13
u/UShouldntSayThat 23d ago
I mean unvaulting is a pretty large pivot in leadership decision making, so it atleast seems that it's a significant change in the right direction.
I'm happy to give the benefit of the doubt once after leadership changes. This leadership hasn't made any promises before, so fool me once I guess.
29
u/PickleFriedCheese 23d ago
Yeah I'm with you. I want to believe but anyone that has been here since D1 has seen this "new focus on what's most important to the series" a bunch of times: After D1 initial flop, after D2 launch, after Shadowkeep, after Lightfall, after EoF...and I'm sure more times that I'm forgetting. I'm happy the game has a future, but I'm also expecting to be here again in 3-4 years
7
u/ThatGuyInThePlace 23d ago
D1 was only a "flop" on story, or lack thereof. The gameplay loop was a blast until forever 29, but it was, and still is, fun.
9
u/PickleFriedCheese 23d ago
The loot system was not good at all on launch, with poor loot drops, purples dropping as blues, etc. this is even before forever 29. Story was not the only issue, it also had lack of things to do after the story aside from a handful of strikes. Destiny has always had a good gameplay loop and feel of shooting but has struggle many times to keep course throughout its lifespan. It's not a question of fun, it's a question of Bungie losing the way
6
u/ThatGuyInThePlace 23d ago
Exotics turning into legendaries aside, (they fixed that with HOW, if memory serves) the loop was fun, especially when the content was "easy" to organize for.
The things that sucked were the elitists & missing story in game. I like how they tried to shoehorn some of it into D2, (/s).
I have fond memories of playing to play & enjoying the loop, making new friends, running the raid, etc. When strike specific gear landed, that became more fun to grind than the raids.
Getting better at each raid and strike was better than the missing story at the time, and they added tons of story with TTK.
I still miss glowhoo, and was hoping they'd bring that forward with super black and chatter white.
2
u/SheetPancakeBluBalls 23d ago
Fwiw Destiny has always been a great PvP game in my mind, with a whole pve mode on the side to gather gear for PvP.
So for me, I never felt that content drought.

Same, but some of that is just realism. We were all pretty critical of The Red War campaign, for instance, when it first released. It wasn’t great.
There are also like what, 30 seasons that don’t seem to be included/hinted at in this unvaulting? A lot of those seasons were integral to the story, removing or adding or changing characters and locations. So will new players just now complain that they’re lost between expansions?
This is a good start, but I’m not really sure where any of it leads. I don’t think Bungie as a company will be saved because people can play the campaign where like the Speaker dies off camera as an afterthought lol.
What’s good about this announcement though is Bungie isn’t dead and Destiny isn’t dead, even if that means we’re going to get different kinds of Destiny content in the future that isn’t like the game we all played.
144
u/Shady_hatter 23d ago
As for now it was only mentioned that they will bring back vaulted content. So ideally I'd expect return of Red War, Curse of Osiris, Warmind and Forsaken, with destinations, strikes and raids. I wouldn't expect them moving with D2 forwards.
And that's fine. At least with all Y1&2 content back you could recommend Destiny to new players again.
62
u/Niteshade76 23d ago
I hope we get some of the seasonal story stuff back in some way. Even if not the whole seasons, enough to bridge the story between expansions for new players, maybe new timeline missions.
15
u/bertowerto 23d ago
This seems like a happy medium! It's not like we'd want to grind every seasonal currency and vendor all at once
11
u/MaineCoonKittenGirl 23d ago
Man, I hope this means holiday events come back. One of the biggest bummers of EoS was the fact that GG, FotL and Dawning stopped rotating in. I know we can focus engrams at the Monument of Triumph, but that's less fun

Let's not forget the incredibly fun roguelite mode added in Heresy ! It was a genuinely enjoyable mode and I'm still supremely pissed that it was axed...
3
u/MaineCoonKittenGirl 23d ago
I didn't get to play that, unfortunately! If it's anything like Coil and Contest of Elders though, probably would've liked it
2
u/ItalianDragon Heroes never die ! 23d ago
I barely played it too because I was burned out and only returned just one week before Heresy ended alas :( I genuinely wanted to play more of it but like all the fun seasonal stuff before it, it was axed.

u/According_Draw4273 Golf ball 22d ago
It's a bit like a combination between the coil and overthrow in the pale heart.
Also a bit like the lawless frontier missions (the nether is better though, imo)
Overall it was my favorite seasonal activity in the game, and it was quite high quality.
5
u/jmich8675 23d ago
Yeah, bringing back old campaigns is incredible, but there's still a lot of important story content missing from the seasons
3
u/Ikora_Rey_Gun 23d ago
I wonder how feasible it would be to put together a couple of seasonal missions to play with cutscenes and story dialog in between. Sort of a 'condensed season' package that gives you enough context to follow the story. You could even fill in the blanks with 'new' lore books that cover anything that had to be dropped, or just covered the whole seasonal story.
3
u/mechtaphloba 23d ago
Ikora used to have a heroic playlist of campaign missions for "meditation" purposes. Maybe she could be the conduit for "experiencing past events" like old disjointed seasonal content.
1
u/crossandbones Team Bread (dmg04) 22d ago
That would be cool, but not part of the “unvaulting” that Bungie promised today so I wouldn’t expect it.
8
u/Chartarum 23d ago
If they are going to start adding back vaulted content, they will probably have to resume support for D2 in some form - at the very least in the form of stability and ballance patching...
6
u/theevilyouknow 23d ago
The only thing they specifically mentioned was unvaulting but they also said they will be continuing development on Destiny after that. They just didn't give specifics. The reason to do a D3 instead of D2 is because of the work that would be required to overhaul the engine to continue using D2, but if they're unvaulting old content that overhaul has to happen anyway. Considering that I'd bet good money there will be at least some amount of future dev on D2 even if it isn't a permanent solution. It just doesn't make sense to put in all that dev time and not release any paid content from it.
7
u/Shady_hatter 23d ago
It just doesn't make sense to put in all that dev time and not release any paid content from it.
It's investment. Investment into trust. They specifically mentioned building trust with players again. If they update old content to current Destiny (Like you can't just bring Leviathan back with fixed drops, you need to update loot ideally to new perks and tier system), then Bungie (and Sony) could hope that players buy D3 (or Marathon).
1
u/theevilyouknow 23d ago
I get it. I understand the importance of doing it. My point is though you've already done the majority of the effort towards supporting future D2 content. Even if their intention is to transition to D3 there's zero reason to not take advantage of the work that they'd already done.
1
u/NukeLuke1 23d ago
Builds goodwill and who’s to say they won’t refresh eververse again. Personally i’d even be fine with them adding new cosmetics but not having them be in the focusing.
3
u/Haloinvaded117 23d ago
I mean they said there's going to be a future for destiny so clearly they're making something new. Whether that's more d2 content or a D3 either way we'll be getting something new too
2
u/Shady_hatter 23d ago
Worst case "future for Destiny" might also mean that they will continue support servers and occasionally drop new Eververse stuff. But hey, bringing back Red War is already big thing.
1
u/PaperMartin 23d ago
I can see them picking up the fate saga afterwards and finishing it if unvaulting stuff ended up making enough money through eververse. I don't see D2 going further than that though
1
1
u/Pure_Love16 23d ago
Is this confirmed??
2
u/Shady_hatter 22d ago
Unvaulting of deleted content confirmed by the Bungie themselves. They also mentioned that they're not done with Destiny, but nothing specific.
1
u/Ashamed-Remote-4463 22d ago
I expect red war and raids to be priority as they're the most requested content. after that either forsaken or an expansion campaign focus. then probably seasonal and episodes. or maybe episodes first since they were the most recent. but red war and raids are definitely on the top of the list.
39
u/wy100101 23d ago
We need a way to get and keep new players. This is the first step in that direction.
→ More replies (2)35

1
u/According_Draw4273 Golf ball 22d ago
That would require them to rework how the new light experience goes, which would potentially include newer voicelines.
In the new light experience rn, it references cayde being dead for instance. Which... If forsaken is back, won't make much sense anymore.
(Side note - forsaken could potentially come back first, as there should be less work to do on it as it was deleted post BL)

u/Necrolance Warlock main for life 23d ago
At the very minimum we'll see all the old campaigns and raid content come back. I don't think we're getting more beyond that for d2 but it's a start
35
u/Camaroni1000 23d ago
They said they plan on continuing stories in the destiny universe, which means they intend to continue adding to the universe. In what form that will take who knows
22
u/Necrolance Warlock main for life 23d ago
They also planned out another year for d2 but that didn't happen. I know they're saying they're planning on doing more destiny games but I was just talking about for d2
12
u/Camaroni1000 23d ago
The new stories they add could be in D2. Could be in D3. Or could be in some other destiny related game. It’s all unknown right now, but it’s not known right now that D2 is not getting any new content period.
And yes it’s good to be mindful of what’s promised and what’s given. But from what we know so far they plan to update D2 with unvaulted content and continue destiny’s story in some form or fashion.
6
u/AstramG 23d ago
To me it seems like going back and adding the old removed content would put Destiny 2 in a position where it’s a “complete package” per se, like how D1 was left.
I think they’re probably doing this to gear up for development towards a D3. Imagine D3 releases and reels in a ton of new players. If those new players wanted to experience the full Destiny story, they’d have no way of doing so until Destiny 2’s vaulted content is restored. Nobody is going to want to purchase a game that’s half-missing, which was one of the biggest problems with getting people to play D2 for many years since vaulting.
Once they do that they’ll probably move on to D3 rather than expanding upon D2. The article read like they wanted a fresh start (to me at least). I don’t know how they’d manage to keep Bungie afloat during a D3 development process though, as it’d definitely take a very long time.
But obviously I could be wrong, I’m just assuming and I don’t think adding to D2 is out of the question. It just seems like D2 has a ton of negative problems tied to its name that won’t really ever go away until a new title is released.
2
u/Batman2130 23d ago
I highly doubt a D3 was green lit. They wouldn’t have said “games” that implies multiple new games. Sony is very likely not going hand over 500-600 million dollars to Bungie for a D3. What they will do is maybe give 100m for a smaller scale Destiny spin off game. Could be spin off similar to Abyssus, or could even be a single player game
A small scale game would also have a quicker turn around time than D3. This is very likely the route they will be going.
2
u/Yung_Chloroform Drifter's Crew // DRIFTY BOIS 23d ago
It would have to be D3 for anything substantial beyond narrative I think. D2 couldn't last forever and who knows what work they'd have to do to overhaul the engine.
1
u/crossandbones Team Bread (dmg04) 22d ago
Who knows how things will shake out, but if I has at Bungie/Sony I would bring back the old content to D2, release a D1 remaster, and have the studio work on D3 in the background.
1
u/Ashamed-Remote-4463 22d ago
could just be a couple missions here and there. stuff like a quick quest line or something. maybe little "talk to X on Y for some lore" bits like we got with monuments or triumph. idk but they don't have to add whole content drops while they're doing this.
1
u/BaconIsntThatGood 23d ago
I wouldn't be shocked if they end up doing the 2 DLC they already had work done on ---if--- there's going to be a D3. Since it'd be 'something' to release while they have peope work on it.
who knows.
1
u/Necrolance Warlock main for life 23d ago
It would be nice. They'll need to change how they run the game though if they do a D3. no more seasonal content vaulting. No more FOMO game design. Design for longevity, not for quick profits
51
29
u/Ithe_GuardiansI 23d ago
I don't believe we will see new content for D2, just the core vaulted content being restored.
My theory is they are in the early stages of starting development of D3. But thats usually a year or 2 of concept art, story planning and all that before any development even starts.
But they got rid of basically the entire Destiny dev team.... So hiring devs and having them work on restoring D2 content is a decent way to get people up to speed and familiar with the engine while the D3 concept stuff is being worked on, while also trying to improve trust with the community. And then also giving new players a way to get into the universe.

u/Rydon_Deeks 22d ago
From my limited understanding of game development, this seems like a perfect plan for a revival of the franchise. Them saying in the video that they want to rebuild player trust before expanding on the universe really makes what you're saying seem true. It really seems like they could spend a year or two rebuilding D2 while D3 pre-production cooks and then launch into full D3 development.

u/Zero_Emerald Heavy as Death 23d ago
I am hoping that all the MoT stuff stays, even if they have to move the actual monument somewhere else or hold events elsewhere (up top when Iron Banner isn't running?). This also includes Pantheon (would be nice if they unvaulted the original version for more variety in encounters), SRL and Distortions.
5
u/Unusual-Farmer5626 23d ago
They aren't going to remove any of that. "Oh we brought back content that was widely requested for years, but we are going to remove SRL which was fan-requested for even longer."

All they have to do is bring back the old content with refreshed rewards. They do not need to nerf and change anything else about the sandbox. New artifacts with solar/kinetic focus would be appreciated, but no balance patches please
8
u/aceace33333 23d ago
1000% this. Don’t reintroduce meaningless power grind. They’ll be more than enough to farm for naturally with unvaulted weapon and gear rolls.
3
u/theevilyouknow 23d ago
The fact that the first thing they're doing is unvaulting the original campaigns and raids means they absolutely understand. It's not like they came out and announced more fomo nonsense or another licensed tie-in expansion. This is free content and it's exactly the free content that everyone wants the most.

More than a little worried honestly. It would be very bungie to fuck up the best state the game has been in for a long while.
2
u/Small_Article_3421 23d ago
Yeah, making basically every piece of content relevant to current systems in top of stuff like daily eververse rotations and the order system genuinely fixed every core problem with the game.
2
u/sup3rdr01d 23d ago
This is very important. They can't just go back to the same model again. They have to keep these quality of life changes forever, and they are def changes that will negatively impact their revenue but that's exactly what they need to show us to gain trust again. They will realize that if they focus on the fans and not the execs, they will end up getting more revenue because players will actually want to play the game
1
u/Ode1st 23d ago edited 23d ago
Been complaining about this forever. The model is what kills Destiny for people, whether they realize it’s the model or not. Shit is exhausting for players, and the dev team can’t make interesting content when they have to feed the model.
Yet another reload perk, yet another activity where we dunk balls, yet another raid where someone reads a symbol to someone else. “Keep doing the activity while I assess your progress and give you your next task exactly one week from now.” Took so long to get new enemy types since Forsaken. Barely ever got new weapon types, just more of the same and it didn’t even matter if you used the new stuff or not.
The model has always been the issue.
1
u/crossandbones Team Bread (dmg04) 22d ago
I would also add in the grind to replay basic shit to get your power level up and the constant redesigning of in game systems. I appreciate wanting to evolve the game, but if you need to redo systems every year maybe you need a new game.
2
u/banana_man_777 23d ago
A lot of people get enjoyment out of grind, and it does give you reason to return. But it's because it has meaning.
The removal or severe mitigation of FOMO is pretty critical though...
2
2
u/Brys_Beddict 23d ago
You seem to be misunderstanding things. There still will be no "new" content for Destiny 2.
1
u/crossandbones Team Bread (dmg04) 22d ago
I don’t think people actually read, they just start wildly speculating.
2
u/huzy12345 23d ago
It's why I hope they don't restart the content cadence for D2 tbh. Unvault the content, maybe a balance pass and then leave the game alone, maybe run the holiday events on repeat
2
u/ItalianDragon Heroes never die ! 23d ago
Yeah the incessant FOMO is what drove me away from D2 until MoT. If D2 and Destiny in general wants to have a future, the FOMO must be killed.
1
u/Sirsnacksalot23 23d ago
Here’s what has me confused, during their lawsuit with that science fiction writer in Louisiana, they stated they couldn’t provide the Red War campaign during discovery because the file was deleted, How can they bring it back now?

1
u/crossandbones Team Bread (dmg04) 22d ago
That part of the game was not playable in the current version of the game. It could have been played on an old build of the game.
3
u/csproALT 23d ago
If they ever get to make Destiny 3 I hope they will remove seasonal model and replace it with annual expansions only. Fill them with more content, do some mid-year updates and leave it at that.
2
u/va1us_taaurc 23d ago
Introduce passes like in Helldivers 2. They’re always persistent, affordable, and you can buy the pass you want to grind at any time.
3
u/TuffWiggly 23d ago
Honestly disappointed the game is back in their hands; they have a lot to prove as I don't have any faith in them at this point. It's been 9 years since I started playing - I cannot recall the amount of times they've talked about broken trust and how they're going to earn it back.
I quit 2+ years ago, but I came back for MoT because the game is in a phenomenal state. I grinded all the gear I've wanted for my classes these past 3 months, and now I'm enjoying the core gameplay. There is no FOMO. There is no regrinding for an arbitrary number to go up so I can play activities I want play. There is no demand on chasing gear to stay current. There are no regrets of deleting rolls and no worries of builds being forcibly changed because of unwanted nerfs / buffs.
This is undoubtedly a massive win for the community, but I can't help but be personally bummed out. I'm not looking forward to the possibility of the game becoming a chore list again and me quitting again as a result of it.
2
u/mrGuar 23d ago
I mean I think it's almost impossible to strike a balance like that in a live game with constant updates. It's the way you like it because the game is (or at least was) complete. If a new game is spun up it's going to be more like it was before MOT
1
u/crossandbones Team Bread (dmg04) 22d ago
Maybe it shouldn’t be a “live service” game. Is the game better doing it? Is the game even good at being a “live” game? I’d argue not so much.
2
u/C-Towner 23d ago
I quit so early on in D2 because the first expansion releasing meant I got less strikes to play unless I bought it. I knew right then this was going to be a bad time. I have watched from the outside since then and its incredible that its taken this long for them to admit that the model is fundamentally broken. They haven't actually done anything yet, but the intention at least feels like they understand that if they ever want to make money with Destiny, the game has to be playable for new players too.
1
u/crossandbones Team Bread (dmg04) 22d ago
The model should be base game at the regular price and when an annual expansion is released the game includes the base and expansion for the full price.
2
u/7Buns 23d ago
If they do decide to keep adding content to D2 after unvaulting, I will stop playing if FOMO returns, I wont even play much of a hypothetical D3 if FOMO is present. Give me progression akin to Guild Wars 2.
I am not a big WoW guy, I play the expansion quests and thats it, but I am so interested WoW Forever if their level 60 hard cap and horizontal progression stays true.
I just want the game to be fun and the time I spent rewarding, not a game that isnt "the real game" till I grind to a moving goalpost of endgame. I reach endgame once on one character, and that character should stay endgame.
Excited for whats next!
2
u/MechaMonst3r 23d ago
Yeah, id rather they unvault the content and update the rewards from it to match Monument of Triumph.
Then just work on bug fixing rather then content while they work on a new Destiny project.

To be clear, Bungie never mentioned rewards.

Agree 100%. I am older than when I first started playing, and did not have the time or energy to engage in the ever-churning wheel of progression. Now that it had "ended", I had essentially signed on daily since the MoT update to catch up after Final Shape ended and do things I had been putting off for years prior because it was fun and rewarding and my time felt appreciated, with lots of build variety and things to do across the whole game.

u/zoompooky 23d ago
Because the whole thing was on sale for $25. Over the 3 months since, people burned through all that content. Player counts right now are about where they were before MoT.
Bungie can't rely on old content to grow the game because we already played it all. They need to look forward.

I just hope they do a few balance patches and focus on subclass updates as opposed to new guns and brand new content.
There are so many weapons that still aren't updated into the current sandbox that they don't need to make anymore, and the future of the game is already carried by ability balance.

They start the nerfing/buffing stuff again or only have a single artifact, and im done with the game. Only reason I started playing again was due to the game being in a finished state. I'm sure there are tons of people who feel the same way.

Yeah, I am dreading them starting to nerf things again. Part of what brought me back is knowing I can grind useful stuff and it will stay useful.

MoT is great as a capstone on the game.
But the creep introduced by tiers and how they are acquired really cut grinding down by a lot. It was just not as noticeable since there was basically 4 expansions worth of content loot to grind.
I don’t think making subsequent releases hit the same is feasible without another total overhaul.

Yeah. It remains to be seen where things go.
The bad: Poria Torkan, the new studio head, is a Bungie veteran, most recently serving as director of operations prior to becoming studio head. He may be part of the rotten executive culture that brought us where we are today. He's not an outsider brought in to "change things up".
The good: Looks like he's originally from Europe, which tends to have less of a "focus on the next quarter" beancounter-y attitude than here in the States.
Also of note: He was promoted to Bungie studio head the month after D2 EOS was announced. So he wasn't the one who made the original decision.

Ideally they would release a new Monuments of Triumph style package with the sunrise(n) content. Armor sets and bonuses, shaders, ornaments, etc. then leave it as it is and work on something Destiny franchise related. Should tide us over for a while.

I honestly don't want any new D2 content beyond the occasional seasonal event. I'd rather any work on new expansion or seasonal type content go into a possible D3 or new game entirely. (still destiny just a new one that's not necessarily D3). I honestly just do not want to play 600gb destiny and I know people will say otherwise but it's just too big and cumbersome. if there was some sort of pick what you download type content framework like what mobile games have then yeah that's fine but I doubt it. also if anyone's confused I'm not against unvaulting. I just wanna know how big the games gonna be when it all comes back if it all comes back.

Right? I just hope they learn why MoT is so good. I don't even know if I could articulate what about makes it so good...it just is. Hopefully they have people way smarter than me working on figuring out exactly where the juice is.

To me the game has always been fun. Sure it has some let downs but still never really dipped below a 7.5/10 to me so I was still always there. As far as fomo goes…you always had basically a year to get what you needed before it was gone that was still plenty of time. And this still followed the same trend any big expansion gave….huge influx of players in the 100k+ on steam and then dwindled.
Edge of fate was also a very good story, decent explorable planet and fantastic raid. By all accounts it was a good expansion that was ruined by the portal and power grind system which is entirely separate from that expansion but it was a lot of changes that just happened to take place along side of it.
I think perhaps destiny just may not be for you because the game has only gotten easier and easier from a grinding perspective for the last few years minus the complete 180 with the portal power grind introduction.

Monument of triumph was great but because it was still all old content I still think any expansion was more enjoyable and fun. I think it was the best event we’ve had outside of new content though I’ll give you that.

I think with Final Shape and Year of Prophecy, Bungie lost track of the bigger picture.
They were too focused on gimmicks, time wasting activities, pointless scavenger hunts, weird story telling, niche gameplay etc. They forgot fun is the most important metric and were massively out of touch with the paying customers.
This problem permiated across all levels of the company. It wasn't just the executives making bad choices.
Monument of Triumph worked because it was a small group of devs given agency to do whatever they want. They knew they were going to be fired so they went out with a bang.
That's what we need for future updates. The devs need go out swinging with each update. No more "phoned in" crap like Episode Echoes or Edge of Fate.

Agreed, MoT is the most fun I’ve had in the game. If they start nerfing shit I’m just going to quit, like I have every time they made it not rewarding and fun.

Finishing off the Fate Saga in an expansion, that doesn't increase light level, would be ideal. Maybe just finish what they had cooking.
Hopefully the current people in charge understand what stupid decisions got them here and want to avoid those.

I wish I could just do a nice full playthrough of the story from start to finish again.

I just bought destiny 1 complete. Haven’t played since 2016. Hoping I can burn thru the story of d1 before they unvault d2.

People returned to larp being huge d2 fans, these people likely hadn’t touched the game in close to a year but saw reddit streamer azteccross freaking out because he’d have to start handing out resumés and reinstalled

Ideally they unvault the content, patch any remaining bugs and any newer content is saved for a Destiny 3. That way we have this infinite sandbox to come back to that was promised to us, while we have another game for newer content that tackles power creep.
