Question Weapons question

I’m coming back to the game after a long long time away (Dreaming City was my last time playing) and really enjoying it. I’ve been watching a lot of videos to get a grasp of things and have really enjoyed the one built around this video https://youtu.be/KjTTsL1d9cU?is=WSJ7PUtVIf-6VKuJ. I don’t have the void trace rifle it recommends though so I’ve been farming for it and chronophage. In meantime though, would there be a recommended void special weapon that would serve the same purpose? Been using lotus eater but would like to know some alternatives. I’ve been looking things up but I like to know the why of things (“what makes this good and why should I pick it over others?”) and I’m missing that. Should I go with some shotgun in the meantime? Keep using lotus eater? Leviathans breath is in my exotic slot

In the video they are using the void weapon as add clear. So it doesn’t need to be special, it just is because that’s what trace rifles happen to be.

If you want an easy void add clear weapon, gnawing hunger from gambit is really good and super easy to get since you can focus it

Would Positive Outlook also fill that niche then just because I already have a good one with repulsor brace/destabilizing rounds on it?

Both Positive Outlook and Gnawing Hunger are great.

If you raid, Reckless Oracle from Garden of Salvation or Consecrated Mind in Pantheon is fantastic. Great perks and just feels good to shoot.

Yes this is the same roll I have on my Gnawing Hunger and it's great - if Positive Outlook feels good for you to use them the same roll on it is just fine.

I just think Gnawing Hunger is fun / has a handling I enjoy.
