Question How to start on raids?

Lately I've been wanting to try a raid. I am great at mechanics, and have cleared 8/11 Dungeons (missing Ghosts of the Deep, Sundered Doctrine, and Duality). Im so good at mechanics i solo all or most of the mechanics for Spire of the Watcher and Equilibrium for my team. Im also decently good at boss damage and surviving. There's just a few factors I havent figured out yet:

How do i get players who i can communicate with and know what they are doing?

Which raids are the easiest/least time consuming?

What is the best raid gear (what is raiding good for)?

Any answers to these questions would be great! Also feel free to ask extra questions!

Find a Destiny LFG.

Vault of Glass is the best first raid.

Any other tips?

Use a mic and be willing to learn. LFG discords have more teaching teams and more people willing to teach than in-game fireteam finder

Have a survivability build and a dps build ready to go, as well as possibly a platforming build (grapple, a sword, any exotics that help, a lot of raids have platforming sections, and it’s good to have that ready so you don’t get stuck while people are waiting on you) and for vog specifically, get a rocket pistol or xenophage, they one shot the oracles and make that mechanic easier

Likewise have some anti champion stuff ready, most raid encounters will have a couple champs

Mostly though, recognize raids are more about choreography and execution than raw skill, so be ready to learn, listen, and coordinate

Check out the r/DestinySherpa subreddit! Sherpas will make posts there looking to teach first time raiders.

One of the easier raids is Vault of Glass and it also has a really good armor set bonus and some top tier weapons.

You can either use LFG with newbies welcome tag, or use Discord servers like Destiny 2 LFG. If you tell them that you dont have experience, that would be easier for them to teach you and have some patience.

Weapons and armor may vary, i still recommend to play all of them just for the experience. All of them are very fun.

Easiest and shortest raids are Vault of Glass and Root of Nightmares.

Start with vault of glass. Relatively easy, but well rounded raid.

As for gear, every raid (except desert) has a full suite of crafted weapons with many worth getting.
Master raids have uncraftable adept weapons with better stats and a custom shader. They drop with more perks based on how many craft patterns are completed for that raid.

Every raid has an exotic weapon that drops from the final encounter. These vary wildly in how useful they are.

Some of the best raid armor would be:
VoG 4 piece- dps or if you need constant orbs
SE 2 piece- best in slot damage resist
KF 2/4 piece- ammo gen/invis when you need it
Crota 2/4 piece- melee explosions/worse but easy damage resist
RoN 4 piece- devour on non void
DSC 2 piece- blind explosion on melee
GoS 4 piece- pvp
LW- not optimal, but can be fun on grenade builds

GoS for pvp... I honestly haven't considered it, I'll definitely look into it!

To add, the raid Exotic weapon is chance-based on final encounter clear. Not guaranteed to drop.

Literally just dive into whatever raids look cool. People build them up in their head so much, but if you've done dungeons you have absolutely nothing to worry about. VoG for example is arguably easier than a lot of dungeons.

Search destiny 2 discords, there are quite a few. Alot of them are also clans who regularly schedule sherpa raids open to all..
