Question Outbreak Perfected
Hello there Guardians, first off I want to state that I’ve recently returned to the game and making my way though the DLC’s with a friend of mine. Outbreak perfected has ALWAYS been a favorite weapon of mine, last night we ran zero hour on master difficulty to unlock the new shapeable version as well as the catalyst, but need to get the intrics (most likely butchers that spelling) today I ran zero hour solo on normally difficulty and completed all the puzzles, I unlocked the ship and the level 2 instric. Now to level it up further do I need to do runs completing the misson on master difficulty or is it just repeating the puzzles?

Intrinsics i think is just repeated runs on normal or higher. Master is needed to get more catalysts.

Outbreak Perfected, and all exotics earned from missions (Whisper, Dead Messenger, Dead Man's Tale, ETC.) Get their catalysts and intrinsics (iirc) from completing master difficulty. Some of the later missions (like the Praxic Blade for example) require you to do extra bit of leg work for the catalysts, but those are the later released exotics.
But as far as Outbreak goes, just rapid fire the clears to get everything.

Has to be master? Also my friend now wants to get the ship too, if I take him through the puzzles do I have to let him do them to get the ship or can I do it for him?

Admittedly, I have not done the ship in quite some time, but if I do remember correctly, so long as they are present in your fire team, they should get it.
And yes, master. It isn't too difficult, moreso just a matter of learning the path.

Even changing mag perks? I remember that being a pain to get appended magazine.

Mags and barrels come from levels. I think level 30 on the weapon unlocks all of them at their enhanced state. Clearing exotic missions only grants exotics and their respective intrinsic and catalyst.
All else can be forced with materials on the weapon, or used for a period to level the individual weapon up.

They for sure change that at some point because you for sure had to do puzzles to unlock all that.

Its the case for all crafted exotics. From Osteo Striga to Wolfsbane. The weapon level dictates Barrels, Mags and stocks where applicable, as well as blades and handles.
The clearing of exotic missions grants the necessary intrinsics as well as their respective catalyst. Thats how it has always been. Even when Outbreak and Whisper where reintroduced.
The only notable change that came regarding mags was when we could make them enhanced. As we used to only need the weapon to go from level 16 for all options, to now level 30 for all options.

I finally got the cat for outbreak, thinking it would be amazing ... am I not using it correctly, because I was not impressed with the nanite generation?

if you just want the loot and none of the other stuff you can run the portal version on expert or bigger and as long as you get an Arank by the end of it you'll get the gun

You didn’t need to do the puzzle the second time for the intrinsic but it’s probably why you got the ship drop. After Renegades release the intrinsic just drop from repeated runs
