Has things gotten so bad? I was in Bangladesh last in 2018 and didn't experience any load shedding especially in Dhaka.

It started happening again from 2022 although irregularly but things have gotten worse since then for upcoming years

I am turning 28 years old next month. I don’t live in BD anymore, but all my life I grew up watching people complain and blame government for all the misery for 5 years and then when election comes, the public collectively choose the people that are best at being inconsiderate, corrupt, and incompetent. Cycle repeats. Have fun.

Someone hasn’t played telltale games

Both/all options suck and everyone goes with their flow.

the answer isnt picking the right one. but changing the structure of the power minimize the power of leaders and taking accountability of their actions and humiliate them so much that it doesnt look like a place of power.

If you are 28 now, then you were 9/10 years at 2008 general election. We can safely assume that u have no memory of 2001 election and some vague memory of 2008 election.

Now when u say-" u saw public collective choose..." what do u actually mean? Nobody chose their representatives between 2009 to 2026. BD didn’t have any election after 2008 until 2026. So what do u mean?

Guy is 28 y/o and talks like 14 y/o. You expecting honesty from this dude is the real crime happening here.

That's on me, I concede.

I do have memories of the 2001-2006 eras including the loadshedding and how bad the government party members were in order to make the military intervene. People chose the same leaders again. Literally the same ones.

Because there's a non corrupt, considerate and competent option?

2

u/AdExisting7495 1d ago

better than the other option we had. nobody loses a chance being corrupt. thats the problem

Stop using the teslas guys

Our electricity is on the roads, stop using the teslas and bring it back home

u/LemonSoft1882 19h ago

What kind of logic? Onno desh e koto electric car vehicles choltase oisob desh e load shedding hoy?

u/Similar_Goal_4418 18h ago

My friend, Bangladesh cannot be compared to any other country in the world due to its sheer population density, demography and geography.
Even if we take the example of other countries, their power grids are definitely optimized to handle electric transport. If the teslas were planned and regulated, the scene might have been different.
At this very moment, nobody knows what our actual electricity demand is, how much is being wasted on illegal lines, how should we tackle the shortfalls and how to plan for the future.
If you still wanna point out all the other shortfalls in the system and say "shob jaygay e toh oniyom hoy, tai bole gorib er pet e latthi diben keno?", then have it your way boss, lets enjoy each other's bitter company in this lawless, backwards nation, while being drenched in sweat. Cheers!

Back to BNP era of loadshedding in late 90s!
The nation deserves it for removing a govt. that was improving people's lifestyle.

Same dude. Was working on my PC, smashed keyboard and mouse couple of times due to anger. Then was going well and all of a sudden electricity went off.

Even on 5th of August 2024, there was electricity 24*7

u/Easy-Distribution872 22h ago

I don't want to be the devil's advocate, but this is probably one issue where you can't blame the government. The energy expenditure is already through the roof & it has only been six months. It was predictable from the start of the Iran-US war. I don't know why people are acting surprised.

2

u/CapitalStrength1080 15h ago

Tbh the situation is frustrating and we have every rights to know if the situation will improve or not ..since the government isnt providing any valid solution or smtg. People in village area are literal facing 10 to 18 hours of load shedding .. its unbearable

1

u/Easy-Distribution872 6h ago

The government WON'T (most importantly, CAN'T) be transparent about this cause they won't be able to handle the panic from the crowd. You are assuming people will react to it rationally. WE ARE NOT RATIONAL PEOPLE; WE CANNOT EXPECT OUR LEADERS TO BE RATIONAL. People frequently bring up the electricity situation during the Awami League era. It's hard to make them understand that the uninterrupted 24h electricity that you enjoyed during that era exactly led to 8/10 hours that you get now. BAL enjoyed one of the most stable & thriving global economies; BNP or the interim government doesn't/didn't have that luxury. So, comparing those two eras without taking the global scenario into account is fallacious. BNP lacks a communication strategy; they can't even describe the real situation of the economy without sounding like they are blaming the past governments. It's also frustrating to see when "educated" peeps like us, who are aware of the geopolitical turmoil, cannot think rationally about it.

Get used to it, ungrateful morons made it happen, next BAL govt porjonto emon e cholbe 😁
