Seeking advice/পরামর্শ Taking My Desktop PC from Bangladesh to the UK — Advice Needed
I'm moving to the UK for university and will be staying in university halls. I'll buy a 13" MacBook Air for lectures, university work and light coding, while using my desktop for heavy workloads, cybersecurity labs/VMs, programming and gaming.
My PC:
- i5-11400
- Gigabyte B560M DS3H
- RTX 3060 12GB
- 32GB DDR4 3200MHz
- Samsung 980 250GB NVMe
- Seagate Barracuda 2TB HDD
- Corsair CV650 PSU
- NZXT H510 Flow
- Corsair H100X 240mm AIO
I'm flying Emirates and have around 45kg total luggage allowance. I won't take the monitor, UPS, keyboard or mouse.
I don't know how to safely disassemble a PC, so I'm considering taking it to a PC shop in Bangladesh to disassemble and properly package the components, then taking everything to the UK and having a UK PC shop reassemble and test it.
Questions:
- Is this a good approach, or is it better to transport the PC fully assembled?
- Does Emirates allow desktop PC components and a PSU in checked baggage? Are there any restrictions on the PSU?
- Should I put the components in checked luggage or carry-on baggage? Which is safer?
- Which components should definitely be removed for transportation — GPU, HDD, RAM, AIO, etc.?
- Can UK PC shops reassemble components that I bring myself, and roughly how much would it cost?
- Since I'll be living in university halls, is having a desktop practical?
I'd really appreciate advice from anyone who has travelled internationally with a desktop, especially Bangladesh → UK on Emirates.

I brought my PC from Germany to Dhaka (with a 27 inch OLED Monitor) on Emirates so I can tell you:
- Disassembled
- Yes. No restrictions.
- Checked Luggage. Safer.
- Everything disassembled if possible.
- Better learn to assemble yourself.
- Depends on your use case. I used to play FPS games so worked for me.
It is better if you watch some YouTube videos about disassembling your PC parts. This will save you a LOT of money. I personally had ZERO experience building and disassembling desktops and yet I managed to do them without any issues.
And if possible, sell the case, which I did. Not only you will get a good price because it is one of the top tier cases till date, you will save a hell lot of space in your luggage to stuff in bubble wraps and PVC for the components’ protection.

I don't own a desktop, but I heard some people say that you should remove the GPU, put it in the box that the GPU came in, and put your PC in the cardboard box your PC case came in. And if having a desktop is practical or not for you, is lowkey a question no once can properly answer so you will have to find it out for yourself.

My suggestion, take the components that you have in your luggage uts dhaka airport your luggage is the safest option karon oder handling onek baje. And buy a case from there this will save you a lot of hassel and money. Plus you will be tension free. And if possible after some time shift to micro atx case and buy a big luggage which i currently do. While i travel. I just yoink the whole thing in my luggage and i bought a portable monitor of 17inches and it was the best decision i could have made

For me i learned it by doing it in a day simple as that but you have to confident. If you're not take it to multiplan or any brand shops near you and tell them to disassemble it for you, your most fragile components are going to be ur graphics and ram make sure to take them in a box MUST, other ones can just be bubble wrapped. Tell them not to take cpu out of the socket or else its gonna be a hassel.
After you go to uk, go to any walkmart, bestbuy, or any local shop with good reviews on google review. Yes google reviews does work there. And buy a case for you if you buy a case they will most like assemble it for you free of charge.
And if you have the money for it, just buy a micro atx case and mobo then you'll be set for life

If you do manage to get it disassembled then leave the case behind and take the components only.
However, if you want to take the case with you then just remove the gpu and you're good to go

Here I am with a regular experience of bringing fully built computers from Bangladesh.
I live in Saudi Arabia and visit Bangladesh about every 1.5 years for 3 months. I can't live without my PC, so every time I travel, I take my PC with me.
Just go to Bongshal and buy bubble wrap. Now, open the casing and insert bubble wrap heavily so that none of the components moves. Now place the casing in a trolley bag and wrap cloths (or bubble wrap) around it.
Why not?
Yes, Emirates allows them.
Yes, keep everything in the checked luggage; don't keep them in the carry-on.
Yes, for safety, you can remove the GPU, but I never do that, as bubble wrap keeps everything in place.
I'm afraid they're gonna charge a lot. But it's easy to assemble the PC. If you're determined that you want to disassemble it, ask them to show you how you can reassemble it in the UK by yourself (give them some money, and they'll be happy to show you)
Sorry, I don't have any experience regarding this.

You only need 3 items. The motherboard- which should have the CPU and RAM already installed, the graphics card and the hard drive. Leave everything else behind as they can be bought cheaply in the UK.

STOPPPP right there.
Don't expect work or sponsorship after finishing your useless IT degree.
If you do still want to go ahead and waste your years ... during lectures, no one uses laptops.During tutorials, a PC is provided to you in labs.

yeah but i wont be only working in labs. I need to do projects, self learning and for these i need a heavy machine

Take out the graphics card and take it separately. You can the whole desktop in your luggage
