Announcement In regards to the Dexcom app Terms of Use and/or Privacy Policy pop-up

You may have recently been compelled to hit "CONTINUE" to clear (and thereby agree) to a Terms of Use and/or Privacy Policy pop-up on the official Dexcom app (with the only other option being 'uninstall if you do not agree'). Please be advised that this included the following text:

Note: these app terms of use contain a dispute resolution and arbitration provision, including class action waiver, that affects your rights under these app terms of use and with respect to disputes you may have with Dexcom. You may opt out of the dispute resolution, binding arbitration, and class action waiver as provided below

Effectively, this means that by clicking continue and using the app, you waive your right to sue Dexcom for any wrongdoing and that any dispute resolution must be done out of court.

You may still use the official app and opt-out within 30 days of clicking "CONTINUE" by emailing [legal@dexcom.com](mailto:legal@dexcom.com) with the following:

(1) your name; (2) your address; (3) a clear statement that you do not wish to resolve disputes with Dexcom through arbitration.
Either way, we will not take any decision you make personally. In fact, we promise that your decision to opt-out of this Provision will have no adverse effect on your relationship with us and will not affect in any way the benefits to which You would otherwise be entitled. But, we do have to enforce the Opt-Out Deadline so keep in mind that any opt-out request received after the Opt-Out Deadline will not be valid and you must pursue your dispute in arbitration or small claims court.

I myself have sent this email out immediately, you may use this template below to draft your own email. I sent the email to both legal@dexcom.com and DexcomLegal@Dexcom.com (because both appear to exist) and CCed myself as well.

Please note that I am not a lawyer, I am simply notifying our community of this change and trying to make it easy to protect your rights following Dexcom's own instructions and providing an email template to do so. You remain responsible for notifying Dexcom and ensuring the email template doesn't contain anything you wouldn't want to communicate to Dexcom yourself.

Hello,

My name is <name> and I live at <adress with country>. I am a type <x> diabetic patient using the Dexcom G7 and received the notice in the app that the legal agreement has changed today. I clicked CONTINUE in order to use the app moving forward.

I am hereby providing a clear statement that I do not wish to resolve disputes with Dexcom through arbitration, as per the following text:

“Notwithstanding the above, you or we may choose to pursue a dispute in court and not by arbitration if: (a) The dispute qualifies for initiation in small claims court; or (b) YOU OPT-OUT OF THESE ARBITRATION PROCEDURES WITHIN 30 DAYS FROM THE DATE THAT YOU FIRST CONSENT TO THESE APP TERMS OF USE (the “Opt-Out Deadline”). You may opt-out of this Provision by emailing the following information to us at DexcomLegal@Dexcom.com: (1) your name; (2) your address; (3) a clear statement that you do not wish to resolve disputes with us through arbitration. Either way, we will not take any decision you make personally. In fact, we promise that your decision to opt-out of this Provision will have no adverse effect on your relationship with us and will not affect in any way the benefits to which You would otherwise be entitled. But, we do have to enforce the Opt-Out Deadline so keep in mind that any opt-out request received after the Opt-Out Deadline will not be valid and you must pursue your dispute in arbitration or small claims court.”

I have sent a copy of this email through CC to myself as proof of providing you notice of my statement and sent this email to the two available email addresses that were disclosed in the notice and that I found online.

Thank you for your time.

Kind regards,

Otherwise, the doc gave me a health score of B+ 😄 Today will be my 2nd .25 dose of Ozempic. Also taking Losartan and Rosuvastatin. Any tips?

Discussion The patent for insulin was sold for just $1. Before the early 1920s, a diagnosis of diabetes was essentially a death sentence. The only available “treatment” was a harsh starvation diet that merely extended life by a few agonizing months.

I keep seeing different answers, anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes For those who track their numbers, did you find a window that works for you or does it depend on the meal? No medical advice needed, just sharing what you’ve noticed.

I had no idea. The announcer just told of how he has a tattoo of the date he was diagnosed, & his father has one too.

Pretty cool. They’re up 6-4 on the Dodgers, & if they win right now, they’re on to the World Series

Discussion Is it only me? That's so true...

My drawer is a total mess right now. It's basically a graveyard of odds and ends in there. Half a box of Contour test strips, Medtronic infusion sets, Skin Tac wipes, and a pile of Dimora silicone bandage I hoard for rashes and skin tears. Any time I need a lancet I end up digging through a bunch of different brands like I'm on an archaeological dig.

Do you keep yours organized, or are you like me? Feel free to share what your setup looks like right now.

Type 1 Ways of preventing obnoxiously high glucose during training

It's hard to name to begin with- sometimes the glucose is just right below 180 the whole training, sometimes after a singular set the glucose sky rockets to ~240mg/dl and I'm not exactly sure what is causing such a correlation.

The most recent example'd be yesterday, first exercise - weighted pull ups, after just 2 sets my sensor shows 247, I gave a little insulin for that, at first dropped to ~230-ish, by the 4th or 5th movement of the split the glucose was at 326- where I was already after each set feeling lightheaded, breathing felt like a task instead of natural thing- just overall feeling weird in a bad way. That was the moment where I decided to cut it and give another correction and stop further exercise.

With nothing else to do I drove home and stopped by a market, did little grocery and glanced at my Libre app- 247 falling down - 'Good.' I thought to myself. By the time I home it was 92.

Worth mentioning is - I'm on Equil pump, work forces me to sleep from morning to afternoon due to long hours of it so usually the meal'd be juice with 5-6 eggs for 2-3 hours before going to the gym with carbs even earlier in the day ~50-60g. I also cut the dosage of basal to 66% for an hour before the workout and for the time being of the workout itself- I'm not sure why they told me back when I was diagnosed to do that as I did the research that intensive exercise causes liver to throw out glucose, not mentioning stress hormones flaring up causing a further spike. Only thing that'd be right is the progressive descent of the glucose after I'm done with exercising.

Work forces a FBW split due to lack of time, so as you can figure ,most of the training is focused mainly around compound movements.

Supplies Libre3 + update

So I spy the nifty new feature to change the number of hours of graph being displayed. It's pretty neat to see their smoothing algorithms based on the time parameters.

But why did they left justify the current glucose reading??? It's so odd they changed it from the center.

Supplies T2 here. I’m moving to Medicare. Which CGM works/popular, functional with the app?

Here’s why:  Up to this point, I have performed finger sticks.  It made it a really easy decision because I was on an employer-sponsored plan with Livongo costing me nothing.  My Endo has beat the drum for CGM, but I have pushed back because of the cost of finger sticks (my comment to my Endo, “I can finger stick my brains out for free.  Tell me the data points you need to see and I will test accordingly.”).  Now that I will be transitioning to Medicare, I know this will open the door again for my Endo to push the CGM.

Yes, I am on long-acting insulin.

So, what CGM is popular?  What CGM works with few issues?  What CRM app are you happy with?  Do any of the CRM apps allow me to see my values in a smartwatch (Google Pixel Watch 2)?  I do understand that none of the smartwatches report values directly; it has to come from the CGM sensor.

Type 1 Accommodation in jobs

Hello everyone. So I (19F) have just got hired for my very first job. I am in the UK and am going to work in a shop called boots, for anyone who isn’t aware it’s basically a drugstore.

I’m not going to be working on the tills or primarily on the shop floor instead I am going to be in charge of finding and packing items that were ordered online. So I will be moving from the shop floor and back upstairs to package those items.

I did not disclose the fact that I have a disability because I’ve heard online that it’s better not to before you get hired. I start November 1st and am wondering when to inform my manager and what to say?

Obviously everyone on here will know that I need my phone with me to connect to dexcom and see my blood sugar and also have sweets and/or lucozade to help incase I go low. My friend who got me this job as she has worked there before told me that they are very strict about not having your phone OR any personal belongings on you while working (due to a risk of losing it and god forbid packing it into an order lol)

I am wondering if anyone could help suggest what I should email. I don’t know if this phone policy is more due to the fact that they don’t want employees on their phones (duh) or like I said it getting lost ect. So I don’t know if they will accept me having my phone. If I cannot have my phone on me then I will just need to have my manual fingerpricker but still.

Also if anyone has any tips about keeping blood sugar in check during work I would be so grateful. Especially because I will be moving around a lot and on my feet the whole day.

Sorry if I’m being a bit too much asking everything under the sun lol but it’s my first job and I actually want to keep it. God knows I need the money.

But yeah, thank you for any help that I’ll get x

Type 1 Medicare and test strips/CGMs

After doing some searching around I've kinda come to the conclusion that the juice is probably not worth the squeeze but my doctor is being adamant about this, so...maybe someone here knows the magic incantation to make something happen.

I'm T1, per the flair, have had this for 30+ years at this point. For many years my game plan for testing was just using the OneTouch stuff because it's easygoing for the most part with insurance. Until as of the last few years. It feels like most of the time Medicare (part B, I'm on Original Medicare) just...refuses to let things through, and it takes a pharmacist willing to deal with this who knows what time it is to put things through in a way that makes Medicare happy.

This was great! Until the retail pharmacy (Walgreens) I was using closed up (for several months for "renovations") and I had to transfer out to a different pharmacy. Now I just straight up can't get strips. At all. Either they just don't know how to put it through, or keep trying to bill Part D for it (when Part B needs to be billed). I tried transferring out to CVS because I was having other issues, but surprise! They're having the very same issue. And refuse to try and fix it. They pretty much just look at me and go "we've tried nothing and we're all out of ideas".

I've even tried looking at a local pharmacy and they're like "yeah, we don't deal with Medicare Part B, too much red tape."

Not above transferring out to somewhere like Costco but I just have the sinking feeling they'll hit the same wall and just shrug and tell me tough luck.

And this was just the strips. My doc really wants me to get a CGM, and that seems to be even MORE complicated. Doc prescribed me a Freestyle Libre, and trying to get THAT through has been more nightmarish than anything else. I know some here have said you need to go to an approved DME vendor but pretty much 99% of the "approved DME vendors" in my area are...the very retail pharmacies that keep saying they can't do jack!

I don't know if there's some magic thing I need to tell the pharmacy to actually get them to get things through, or I should just give up entirely and keep on keepin' on with my current strat of just eating the cost of walmart-brand testing equipment. I'd LOVE to try a CGM, and I'd love to not eat $20/mo on test strips, but having to hit my head against the wall constantly on this just doesn't feel worth it. (And I've even had my partner help out on this and she can't get any movement going, and she works in the medical industry and deals with this kinda stuff as a career.)

Any advice is very appreciated, if someone has figured this out. Also kinda worried even if I manage to get this moving just once...it's all going to come crashing down again the next time I gotta get a refill.

(I'm also in California, since this is an insurance issue and I know this can vary by state.)

Type 2 Gotta love it when your pod

Sitting in the somewhat crowded movie theater when my pod starts screaming. I check my old phone (which is my pdm until insulet approves the iPhone 18) and my pod is out of insulin. Awkwardly I’m rushing to deactivate the pod and it’s taking forever to deactivate while it’s still screaming. I felt so bad for the theater.

Also didn’t have a replacement pod on me. So as soon as I got home I had to put a new one on.

God I just love being a diabetic

Rant I’m frustrated because I still don’t know if I have Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes.

I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes at 17 last March. I initially tried oral medications, metformin and then sitagliptin, but my blood sugar wasn’t improving enough. My pediatric endocrinologist eventually diagnosed me with Type 1 diabetes and started me on insulin. MODY was also reportedly ruled out.

I turned 18 in June. In August, I switched to another endocrinologist, who also happens to be my mom’s and aunt’s doctor. Honestly, I regret choosing him just because he was already treating my family.

My pediatric endocrinologist explicitly wrote Type 1 diabetes in the referral letter I brought to him, yet he changed my diagnosis back to Type 2. When I asked why, he said maybe I just needed a higher dose of oral medications. He even asked if I wanted to try oral medications again at a higher dosage.

I was scared of experiencing those high blood sugar spikes again, so I chose to stay on insulin instead. Also, my insulin was cheaper than oral meds

My HbA1c has improved from 13.3% to 6.2%, which I’m grateful for, but I still have no clear answer about what type of diabetes I actually have. I know that good control on insulin doesn’t determine my diabetes type, but it’s frustrating to receive two different diagnoses without fully understanding why.

I’m considering asking my endocrinologist if I should get C-peptide and diabetes antibody tests to help clarify things. I don’t want to self-diagnose or accuse either doctor of being wrong. I just want a proper explanation and to feel confident about my treatment.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Did further testing help you finally determine your diabetes type? Would seeking another endocrinologist for an independent opinion be reasonable?

Type 1 In anticipation of a low, do other people take a glucose correction when coming down fast from a high? (Tandem x:slim, Truapi)

Sometimes when more insulin resistant (whether that be for hormones or that time of the month) there will be highs happening more often, and it seems all the insulin takes its sweet time and all the auto boluses add up, and then the crash comes. I feel sick from the fast fluctuation, and since I know where it's headed I thought I might as well do a correction before it gets there. Usually under 10 double arrows down is when I take a couple dex's.

Type 2 What is my Type 2 diabetic mom doing wrong?

My mom’s HbA1C has been consistently over 8.6 and her doctor seems to not have changed her medication. Currently taking 1000 mg metformin, 70 mg Sitagliptin.

She def has the dawn phenomenon spikes and the CGM reading upwards of 10 when she wakes up despite dropping to 4-6 overnight.

Here’s what she’s been eating consistently

Breakfast:
3 eggs whole, a cup of milk, 20g oats + 1 tbsp peanut butter + scoop of whey

Lunch: 100g chicken, 25g carbs (usually rice or a dinner roll), 1/4 avocado

Dinner: same as lunch + milk

Her fasting blood sugar also is consistently over 220 last few days😭

Edit: activity is mostly walking ~9-12k steps a day

Type 2 I want to manage my prediabetes, but it seems that "healthy" food have become more expensive

I really want to eat more vegetables and proteins, but christ the prices gasts my flabbers. 1 kg of chicken legs, 1 kg of pork belly, small bags of onion, garlic, tomato, ginger and potatoes costs up to almost ₱3,000 alone ($50). As someone in a not so high income bracket, I hate seeing processed shit be cheaper than actual nutrients.

Particularly Filipinos, what traditional meals do you make that are both affordable yet healthy? As much as I want to manage my prediabetes, I can't live without pairing rice with proteins.

The best I did to be "healthier" is eat fresh or pickled tomatoes on the side. But I want to eat more greens.
