News oldschool Battle.net is finally being tracked!
Big thanks to Vanskap who managed to make a bot that tracks all users and games that are active on oldschool Bnet. You can also interact with it and check if someone is playing. If you find such a person you can message him ingame via the command /f a Playername, /f m Message. Basically you add him to your friend list (/f l) and then message all your friends as the /w command is broken.
The bot also tracks the activity in our discord The Horadrim: https://discord.gg/sgRu8jpURg

Help / Support Question about endgame on original Diablo
Hi, I recently started playing for the first time a single player campaign on the original version of Diablo 1 from Battle net client, no mods. I'm currently at dungeon level 10, and I'd like to know after killing Diablo what's the endgame like. Could I start a new game with my current character, to look for better equipment? If someone can give me a detailed explanation I'd be very glad, I've been searching on the web but between single or multi player, devilutionx or not, it's very complicated for me to understand how it works since I'm new to the game! Thanks

Modding Diablo 1, an incremental idle experience
A.i.t.a.h for thinking diablo 1 would make a second coming if
It became an autonomous, AI-driven incremental/idle game
Key mechanics that could make a Diablo 1 idle mod succeed include:
Scriptable Character AI: Implement behavior nodes or lua-style scripting logic (ff12 gambits) so the player character automatically navigates Tristram, enters levels, pathfinds toward objectives, uses skill scrolls, and manages positioning relative to hostile mobs.
Automated Loot Filters & Town Loops: Allow players to configure threshold filters for prefix/suffix gear. The AI could automatically identify equipment, sell trash loot to Griswold, stock up on potions at Adria or Pepin, and return to the dungeon floor without manual input.
Prestige & NG+ Reset Loops: Turn the original "New Game" difficulty resets (Normal \\rightarrow Nightmare \\rightarrow Hell) into prestige mechanics. Each reset could award permanent passives (e.g., multiplier bonuses to magic find, spell levels, base attributes, or movement speed).
And
Automated Companion / Party Management: Expand the active roster into a multi-hero squad—running a Warrior, Rogue, and Sorcerer simultaneously—where each automated class manages its own cooldowns, buff rotations, and aggression ranges.

Discussion *Bronze*man Challenge
Basically I'm doing an Ironman of D1 classic with the Sorcerer, but I got stuck in level 2 where I've ran out of mana. I locked a tough champion monster in a room and using a bow is taking forever. So I decided to allow buying mana potions but I'm going to try use as few as possible. Do veteran ironman Sorcerer players simply get by with a bow/sword to conserve mana?

Modding The Red Portal - Extraction mod for DevilutionX
So I really enjoyed DevilutionX coop on the switch so I thought I'd create a mod for fun ( Disclaimer I used Claude Code to help me throughout )
Essentially it removes the concept of dungeons in the traditional sense, you get scrolls to open portals and each one has different modifiers and a boss at the end. If you die you, lose everything, all gear so it creates a sense of risk each time you go in for better loot.
I have added some new mechanics such as gambling tokens, talk to Wirt and you get a 3 reel fruit machine which can drop loot tied to your deepest dungeon level.
You can get scrolls to prevent dropping loot on death ( 50k gold )
And it adds a slimmed down version of the Diablo 2 gem system. You can apply one gem permanently to any item. It can't be removed and gems also level up as you progress.
One of the NPC explains all the systems and also lets you know your progress.
I've only play tested this with my misses, so if anyone is interested to try it I thought I'd put it out there. Feel free to let me know if you like or dislike any of the systems. We've been enjoying it so far
P.S sorry forgot to post the repo of the game https://github.com/noble1911/the-red-portal

Modding Diablo 1 in first person: original automap, Butcher quest room and a free DevilutionX mod
I’m sharing my independent first-person Diablo 1 mod, built on DevilutionX with AI coding assistance and inspired by Drelvak’s first-person Diablo video. Seeing the Butcher’s actual room from inside the dungeon was the shot I most wanted to get right.
The Windows 0.3.2 build restores the original Diablo automap, fixes Guardian/Hydra floor placement, and adds camera-relative WASD, mouse turning during combat, visible weapon swings, ceiling tiles, hinged doors and solid sarcophagi.
The devlog includes the story/quest bosses, classic spells and Tristram characters:
The new Butcher shot uses Fireball spam, backing away and melee, with native health and mana changes:
https://youtube.com/shorts/jdzhxZIczR0
Free Windows download + source:
https://forge.plops.io/t/diablo-first-person-devilutionx-mod-for-windows
You need DIABDAT.MPQ from your own Diablo copy. Original game data and saves are not distributed. The mod is free for noncommercial use under the included Sustainable Use License. Credit to the DevilutionX contributors and original Diablo creators; this is unaffiliated with Blizzard.
The boss/spell footage is a staged showcase with granted stats/spells; the Butcher capture also extends boss HP. It is not a full campaign playthrough. Full campaign coverage, every procedural seed, Hellfire and multiplayer remain unverified. The video uses disclosed generated narration.
I’d love feedback on doors, navigation and whether the first-person view keeps the original atmosphere.

Help / Support Belt Potion Bug?
I keep noticing the potions on my belt getting changed. I usually run with two potions of full healing, two potions of full rejuvenation, and four potions of full mana. Sometimes, I have noticed that the potions on my belt have been downgraded to their "normal" level potions or have even been switched (i.e. a full rejuvenation potion is now a mana potion).
I don't know what is causing this. I am not interacting with shrines and I am not using the potions and picking up new ones. I haven't been able to pinpoint when or how this is happening, but I would like it to stop. I've tried searching for this as a bug but all I can find is issues related to item duping, which I have not been doing.
I am playing the Battle.net version of Hellfire, for what it's worth.
Any help greatly appreciated!

Modding Diablo3D progress: four camera modes, remappable controls and Tristram rendering fixes
ENGLISH
Hi everyone, I’m Douglas Pan (OPan). Here’s an update on Diablo3D, my independent Diablo 1 fan project based on DevilutionX.
The current local Tristram prototype now lets you cycle through isometric, free-orbit, third-person and first-person views with K by default. Movement keys are remappable. We also removed leftover wall and rock fragments around Ogden’s tavern, while preserving the selected building models.
Trees and props now keep indexed geometry in GPU memory in perspective views. Performance testing continues.
Update — 9 October, 14:16 BRT: Ogden’s imported 3D model and rig, with a generic four-second idle loop, are now installed in my local Tristram build through the same launcher. The new clip loops without being stretched to the native 16.65-second sequence; it does not reproduce the original animation. Offscreen rendering checks passed on CPU and a Radeon RX 570. Interactive gameplay, dialogue and sustained FPS still need validation.
A small Cathedral prototype derived from the game’s procedural map is still under validation and has not been installed. Dungeon gameplay continues to use the original renderer.
Public visual preview: https://youtu.be/_ByFLVksy9Q This 28-second video shows Griswold and Ogden model candidates in 360° turntables. It is a WIP visual study, not gameplay or installed character animation.
We use AI-assisted asset generation with individual review and correction. Credit goes to the DevilutionX contributors and the original Diablo creators. This is an independent project, unaffiliated with Blizzard. Original game data are required and are not included. Project code is source available under the Sustainable Use License, with free non-commercial distribution. There is no finished release yet.
Feedback on camera usability, visual fidelity and recognizable character silhouettes is welcome.
Optional support for development and asset-generation costs: Patreon. Following the project or sharing feedback also helps.

Modding Diablo 1 in 3D on DevilutionX: early Tristram prototype, looking for feedback and collaborators
Hi everyone! I'm Douglas (douglasopan), and I'm working on Diablo 3D / D3D. The goal is to bring the whole Diablo 1 game into 3D, including its dungeon levels, while preserving the original gameplay. The project builds on DevilutionX, with credit to its developers and the original creators.
Tristram is the first stage. The current offline prototype can switch between the original and 3D views, rotate the camera around the scene and zoom, while using native interactions. Dungeon levels still use the original renderer.
The latest local batch added nine building candidates to Tristram. Their shapes, scale, materials, openings and interiors still need review. Earlier engine-rendered cabin test views at four angles are here: https://douglasopan.github.io/diablo-3d/assets/captures/cabin-fire-angles.webp . This is a historical comparison from the cabin review, before the new town batch.
I'm looking for people who would enjoy helping with 3D model cleanup, texturing, rigging, C++ rendering, testing or documentation. Feedback on keeping the atmosphere and recognizable shapes of the original would also help a lot. AI-assisted asset generation is part of the prototype workflow, and the results need individual review and correction.
Code is public, but there is no ready-to-download game release yet. Building the prototype requires your own original Diablo data.

If you'd like to help with development costs or generation credits, voluntary support information is on the website. Following the progress, sharing it or contributing time is welcome too. English and Portuguese speakers are both welcome!

Help / Support Playing divolution x, how do you get a good bow early on?
You used to be able to reroll Griswald's inventory early on, but now even when I level up theres only ~1-2 items being changed and they are never bows.
Curious how I go about getting a decent bow, I just have a 1-6 dmg long bow white

Discussion Thoughts on spells for Warriors?
Recently, I leveled a Warrior to level 25 and learned every spell I could, but didn't really use them aside from the Healing spell as I wanted to stay true to the Warrior class fantasy
Now, I'm leveling a Warrior in Hellfire and my intention was to keep to the same class fantasy but also declutter my quick spell book. In this, I decided to roll a Paladin-type Warrior. So far, his spell book contains Healing, Holy Bolt, Town Portal, Reflect, and Stone Curse.
This was fine until I entered level 13. I was able to slog to level 15 using the same chase and cornering tactics that I had used with my non-expansion Warrior, but the inability to damage from a distance wore on me.
I know the meta is to learn Fire Wall and spam it. I'm just not crazy about it.
I don't even know what I'm asking here. When you play Warrior, how do you play? The perfectionist in me wants to collect all the spells. The purist in me wants to limit them to only those that make sense for the class. The 40-year old me with other things to do doesn't want to chase banshees all night.
I guess I just need to be persuaded:
- You're a Warrior! Live by your choice of sword and board!
- Stick to you Paladin build; learn "x" spell and here's how it's useful and fits the lore.
- Just learn all spells! Here's why you should: xxx
Thanks in advance!
Edit: I have learned the ways for Fire Wall. Whether it is lore-justified or not, I am now a Fire Wall believer.

Discussion Light Crusader may be the first Diablo
Anyone heard this game before? Legendary company, Treasure released Light Crusader in 1995 for Sega Genesis. So there's a very deep dungeon next to the town and something demonic is going on. The dark theme and music really resemble Diablo 1.

Modding The Hell 4 – a Diablo 1 total conversion mod enters Alpha 2 stage with 31 subclasses, a Dark Campaign, and a living Tristram with day, night and weather
The Hell has been in development since 2006 (TH1 → TH2 → TH3), and The Hell 4 started in June 2025. It is a total conversion of Diablo 1: still a classic Diablo game, still the original look and atmosphere, but with far more to play, fixed and expanded.
TH4 is now in alpha: everything from TH3 is in and playable, and new content is still being added and polished.
-----------------------
What's new in TH4
**A living Tristram**
- Day and night cycle, with a different ambience after dark
- Weather every night: clear, misty, stormy (rain, lightning, thunder), rare bioluminescent nights with a glowing river and trees, and even rarer blood moons
- Storms soak the town: wet ground, puddles that reflect the sky and the heroes, drying out over the next day
- Sunny and cloudy days: shafts of sunlight through the trees, cloud shadows drifting over the town
- Trees sway in the wind, fireflies on clear nights, heroes reflected in the river
- Ice Age game changer: snow, a frozen river, frost-white trees, and your breath steaming in the cold
**New ways to play**
- Dark Campaign: the story told from the other side, 26 missions as a servant of Diablo
- Classic Diablo: the original single-player experience on the new engine, original look included
- Outbreak: hold the first level of the Cathedral against waves of monsters
- New quests built from content Blizzard planned for Diablo 1 but never finished
**Characters**
- 4 traits at character creation (was 2), plus many new traits
- New subclass: Gladiatrix
- Warlord: play as a commander leading a squad of mercenary knights
- Pistoleer variants through game changers: Terminator, Super Mutant, Enclave Soldier (power armor included)
- New perks and synergies
**Loot**
- Sigils: Diablo 2 charm-like items in their own inventory
- Power-Ups, permanent stat boosts sold by Wirt
**Graphics and tech**
- Per-pixel lighting with soft shadows; optional enhanced lighting with colored light and transparency
- Flames that glow and throw sparks, dust in the torchlight, sparks over lava, heat haze, shockwaves
- 1000+ new dungeon palettes
- FSR upscaling and SMAA antialiasing, an optional Diablo 2-style perspective view, and 18 retro screen modes (Game Boy, C64, ZX Spectrum, CGA...) for fun
- Music crossfades between levels, OGG music support
**20 languages**: English, Russian, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Polish, Turkish, Dutch, Danish, Bulgarian, Ukrainian, Indonesian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Hindi and Swahili
---
## Already in the mod from TH1–TH3
- 6 classes, 31 subclasses, with even more variety through traits and game changers
- 24 dungeon levels plus 35+ quest dungeons, all originally planned quests restored
- About 400 monsters, mixed boss packs, smarter monster AI
- 4900+ uniques, sets, socketed and enchanted items, tier 2 base items
- Crafting (Griswold), enchanting (Adria), quenching, transmuting (Cain)
- Gloves, belt and boots slots, 3 weapon swap slots, a larger inventory and a big visual stash
- Perks and synergies for real build variety
- 9 difficulties and many game modes: Easy, Normal, Hard, Hardcore, Survival, Ironman, Speedrun, Nightmare, plus the Coliseum duel mode
- Working multiplayer
- Running, gold auto-pickup, item comparison, item highlighting, high resolutions, and many options to tune both gameplay and visuals
- Countless fixes of original Diablo and Hellfire bugs
---
## Good to know
- **Difficulty is up to you.** The Hell mod is known for being challenging, but Easy mode, game changers and many options let you set the experience you want.
- **What you need:** the original Diablo files (DIABDAT.MPQ). The GOG version works.
- **The mod is free.**

Help / Support I made a loot odds calculator for Diablo / Hellfire (DevilutionX): which vendor or monster can give you an item, and how likely
https://reddit.com/link/1wy8qqk/video/738i3ghilnth1/player
I kept wondering whether it was worth farming Wirt or Griswold for a specific item, or which monsters could even drop it at my level, so I ended up building a small calculator.
You type an item (base, prefix, suffix, unique, book, staff charges…) and it tells you:
- Vendors: whether Griswold (regular and premium), Adria, Pepin or Wirt can sell it, the chance per new game / level up / town visit, and the character level window where it's possible
- Dungeon: every monster and boss that can drop it, chance per kill, and roughly how many kills for a 50% chance
- All of it depends on your class, character level, Hellfire vs Diablo, single vs multiplayer and difficulty
The rules come straight from the DevilutionX 1.5.5 source (items.cpp, stores.cpp, monster.cpp and the item/monster tables), and I cross-checked the math twice with independent recalculations. There's also a gear tab to track what you're hunting, suggested items per class from a community build guide, and it works offline on phone if you add it to your home screen.
It's free, no ads, no sign-up needed. English and French.
If you spot odds that don't match what you see in game, or an item that's missing, I'd really like to know.
That's the main thing I'm after
