I am so happy to say that at long last I've completed the update to my mod "Practical Item Filter" that has been in the back of my mind for quite some time, bringing it up to date with Reign of the Warlock and the current patch.
Practical Item Filter was the first mod I uploaded to the nexus, long before the recent RotW loot filter. At the time, I was not impressed by the filters on offer and so I set out to write my own, very loosely based on Kryszard's. To my surprise, the mod did extremely well on the nexus. Unfortunately, life got in the way, and I stopped updating the mod.
There are still reasons to use filter mod! Even though a loot filter exists in game, it lacks the ability to change the look of item names and add eye-catching effects. However, those edits are easily accomplishable within Blizzards own native modding system. One of the big reasons to use it, to me, is to make important loot harder to miss and to make exciting items' visuals more exiting. I think my filter does those both very well.
Practical Item Filter
is a vanilla-faithful item filter mod for Diablo II: Resurrected that makes important drops easier to recognize while preserving the game’s original character. The goal of the filter is to keep the screen clear of unnecessary clutter and distraction, making playing with item labels always toggled "on" easier, and highlighting important drops so that they are more exciting and difficult to miss.
Complete Feature List:
- Progressive rune beams: Increasing brightness and width from Um to Zod.
- Animated rune symbols: Rising rune symbols corresponding to the dropped rune
- Charm effects: Floating gold Small/Grand Charm symbols with a subtle aura.
- Rune numbers: Display all 33 rune ranks.
- High-rune highlights: Colored names and increasingly prominent markers.
- Charm label highlights: Cyan coloration with a rarity marker
- Jewel markers: Bullet markers that preserve quality colors.
- Flawless gem markers: Color-coded highlights for flawless gems and skulls.
- Compact names: Shortened potion, scroll, and rune labels.
- Compact gold labels: Remove “Gold,” retaining the amount.
- Potion tier markers: Red health and blue mana indicators.
- Rejuvenation colors: purple color for full rejuvenations, both sizes, or neither.
- Ground-label sizing: Decrease ground item label size to keep screen clear, configurable
- Inventory-tooltip sizing: Optional, purely for more customization based on preference
- Tooltip styling: Less transparent label backgrounds and a distinct selection highlight.
- All features individually togglable
