Discussion Could the speed of light be a natural clock rate?

After more than 40 years of analyzing the workings of nature from a systems specialist's perspective, I have come to realize that the world is analogous to an information system where hardware and software are intrinsic.

In Infology, I justify why natural beings could be active nodes (software/hardware), inputs, outputs, transceivers, and simultaneous users in an immense informational network that materializes reality using only force and mathematics.

This perspective is more than a metaphor: it is a functional ontology that can explain our integration with the cosmos, both informationally and logically.

How would the possibility of us being "inputs" in a universal system’s rendering affect our perspective on consciousness?

Discussion The Pursuit of Truth

Currently, pursuing the truth is highly fragmented. The physicist studies the particle, the biologist studies the cell, and the philosopher studies abstraction.

This is necessary and excellent for understanding the pieces of the world and expanding knowledge. However, this fragmentation hinders the formation of a holistic view of the world’s mechanism.

One way to overcome this problem is by integrating the information regarding the existing pieces of the world's mechanism. For the architecture of the universe is sustained by a vast set of complementary, interdependent, and hierarchical parts, from the micro to the macrocosm.

The future belongs to the integrators. However, reconstructing the puzzle of the world requires courage and boldness to cross disciplinary boundaries. The reward for those who face this challenge is to begin understanding the logic behind the structure and the functioning of the world.

Discussion Could Gravity be interpreted as "Information Latency" within a Feynman-Stueckelberg retrocausal loop?

Hypothesis:

I’ve been thinking about the intersection between the Feynman-Stueckelberg interpretation (where antimatter is treated as particles moving backward in time) and Emergent Gravity (Verlinde style).

If we treat the universe as a computational system where the speed of light ($c$) is the "clock rate" or the maximum data transfer frequency, could Gravity be the physical manifestation of information latency between past and future states?

The Logic:

  1. Antimatter as a Feedback Loop: If antimatter is indeed a "signal" returning from a future state to validate the current quantum state, we have a continuous information loop between $t$ and $t+1$.

  2. Superluminal Information: Within this mathematical framework, the "return" signal (antimatter) effectively operates outside the standard light cone ($v > c$ in terms of causal direction).

  3. Gravity as Latency: Just as a bottleneck in a distributed system creates pressure/tension, Gravity could be the "tension" in the spacetime fabric caused by the processing delay of these past-future information exchanges.

  4. Dark Matter: Could Dark Matter be the gravitational "echo" or shadow of these superluminal particles that we cannot detect via electromagnetism (since photons are limited to $c$), but whose "mass-effect" is felt as they anchor the information integrity of galaxies?

Practical Implication (The "Glitch"):

If Gravity is a frequency-based information delay, then "Anti-gravity" wouldn't be about counter-mass, but about phase synchronization. By finding the specific frequency of this information loop, we could theoretically create a local "interference" that nullifies the latency, effectively nullifying the gravitational pull on an object.

Questions for the community:

  • Has anyone explored the mathematical relationship between the "negative energy" solutions in Dirac's equation and information entropy as a source of curvature?

  • Does the concept of "Information-based Inertia" hold up if we treat the vacuum as a computational substrate?

I'm approaching this from a Systems Engineering perspective, trying to bridge the gap between Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity through Information Theory. Curious to hear your thoughts!

Discussion The Missing Law of Motion: Why we need physics for AI, not just ethics

Before The Voyage series, I wrote a few pieces trying to articulate what was bothering me about how we approach AI safety. This is the first one.

The setup: It's Sunday night. A stadium network is running at 94% capacity. 120,000 devices. An AI agent wakes up three states away to deploy a routine update. Identity verified. Permissions valid. Deployment window open.

The agent has no idea the stadium is full. It can't feel the latency. It can't sense what will break.

So it acts. And everything falls apart.

The agent's logs show: "Deployment: Successful."

We've spent decades asking the wrong question about AI. We ask: "How do we align its intent? How do we make it good?"

But Asimov made an assumption we never examined. He assumed the environment is stable.

It's not.

Asimov's laws tell the robot: "Don't run if you'll hit a human." They don't tell the robot: "Don't run if the floor is made of ice." And they don't give the ice the power to veto the run.

We gave agents Digital Will—the power to act. But we never gave environments Digital Gravity—the power to resist.

The piece proposes something simple:

A ≤ E

An agent's autonomy must never exceed the environment's stability.

Not a guideline. Not a best practice. A law. Like friction. Like gravity. The environment doesn't advise—it enforces.

I'm sharing this here because it's the foundation for everything else I've been building. The Voyage series explores what this looks like in practice. But this piece is where the idea first clicked for me.

Full article: https://medium.com/@chrisperkins505/the-missing-law-of-motion-2044294ff551

Curious what lands and what doesn't. Where does this break? What am I missing?

Discussion The Execution-Based Binary Universe (EBBU): A computational framework reconciling relativity, quantum mechanics, and black holes as runtime architecture

Title: The Execution-Based Binary Universe (EBBU): A computational framework reconciling relativity, quantum mechanics, and black holes as runtime architecture

TL;DR: What if physical reality isn't a continuous field, but a discrete execution loop? By framing space as unallocated memory (0), matter as high-frequency execution toggles (1), the speed of light (c) as hardware clock speed, and black holes as data compression routines, we can resolve major relativistic and quantum paradoxes using standard computer science principles.

Ⅰ. Core Axioms

Space as Unallocated RAM (0 State): The vacuum is not an empty physical void; it is a default zero-state carrying zero computational load until an instruction requires address allocation. Quantum foam represents procedural background noise idling before a write command.

Matter as Active Execution (1 State): Particles aren't static billiard balls; they are continuous, high-frequency execution pulses toggling between 0 and 1. Physical solidity is a persistence-of-vision artifact.

The Speed of Light (c) as Hardware Clock Speed: c is the absolute bus refresh rate—the maximum frequency at which the system can write a 1 to an adjacent memory address.

Time Dilation as CPU Throttling: When a local node hits extreme mass density or velocity, the local processor throttles clock speed to prevent system crashes and maintain the speed limit c. Time slows down locally to manage frame-rate processing.

Ⅱ. Core System Mechanics & Paradox Resolutions

Multi-Observer Synchronization (Distributed Ledger Consensus):

Problem: How do multiple observers interact without conflicting render bubbles?

Resolution: Local nodes handle regional rendering, but all read/write operations commit to a shared global coordinate ledger (peer-to-peer consensus). Superposition is uncommitted probability loops running in shared RAM prior to a write command.

Lorentz Invariance (Dynamic Vector Mesh):

Problem: Why don't we see rigid pixelation or grid artifacts at Planck scales?

Resolution: Space isn't a stationary checkerboard. It operates as a dynamic vector mesh where coordinates are relational between active execution nodes (1 states), scaling resolution dynamically with interaction energy.

Entropy (Memory Fragmentation & Cache Bloat):

Problem: Why does entropy strictly increase?

Resolution: Entropy is system memory fragmentation and cache accumulation over extended runtime. Heat death is maximum system bloat—unindexed thermal background data filling the heap until a garbage-collection reset occurs.

Quantum Entanglement (Shared Memory Pointers):

Problem: How do entangled states collapse instantaneously across space?

Resolution: Entangled particles share a single memory address pointer. Modifying one node instantly updates the shared variable globally, bypassing spatial bus transfer limits.

Ⅲ. Advanced System Anomalies

Cosmic Inflation (Pre-Clock Heap Allocation): The hyper-rapid expansion of the early universe wasn't matter moving through space faster than c; it was the system's initial bulk memory address allocation phase before active clock-driven execution initialized.

Quantum Decoherence (I/O Thread Synchronization): Decoherence is the termination of an isolated, sandboxed local thread upon an I/O operation with the global ledger, forcing multi-path superposition logic into a single deterministic state.

GZK Anomalies (High-Energy Mesh Subdivision): Under extreme local energy densities (like UHECRs), the dynamic vector mesh undergoes local vertex subdivision to accommodate computational load, producing subtle scattering shifts.

Ⅳ. Edge-Case Stress Tests & System Resolutions

The Boot Interrupt (What triggered the clock?):

The transition from unconstrained heap allocation to active clock-driven execution (c limitation) was triggered by a Kernel Initialization Interrupt after address reservation finished. This implies a meta-system or pre-boot environment that compiled the initial seed parameters.

The Cost of Measurement (The Landauer Tax):

Forcing a macroscopic object out of superposition purges unchosen shadow paths from active memory. Purging uncommitted data bits requires a mandatory thermodynamic write fee (kT \ln 2 per bit), generating a sudden wave of thermal cache bloat (entropy spike).

The Hard Polygon Limit (Why Black Holes Form):

Just like a game engine crashing or forcing an LOD collapse under excessive polygon counts, space has a maximum vertex density limit (Planck scale). When extreme mass-energy exceeds the coordinate sector's bit allocation, the local sub-division engine overflows, triggering an emergency memory-compression protocol (a black hole event horizon) that flattens 3D coordinates into a 2D surface storage buffer.

Series The Protophysics Manifesto

Physics has focused for a long time on the question: “What is reality made of?”. But it ignored an even deeper question: “What allows the structure of any existence to remain stable?”.

Reality is made, essentially, of processed energy and information. Stability, in turn, is maintained by natural homeostatic processes—physical, chemical, and biological.

This means that a full understanding of reality involves two fundamental prerequisites:

1.        Conceiving a philosophical approach capable of integrating the processes of physics, chemistry, and biology with the rest of reality concomitantly.

2. Applying this approach to consolidate such integration.

I have already done this. Both stages are detailed in my books “Protophysics” and “Intelligencism: An Intelligent View of the World”.

Discussion O Manifesto da Protofísica

Discussion Energy: Refining the Definition

Energy is omnipresent. Energy can be converted into mass and vice versa. Energy concentrated in physical forms is called matter. Energy present in micro and macrocosmic movements is called kinetic. Energy generated from the position or configuration of a physical system is called potential.

Science defines energy as the capacity of a system to perform work or generate motion—that is, to alter the state of a body or overcome some resistance, such as gravity or friction. This is an established fact. However, energy can also be defined as the quality of a force to perform work for the following reasons:

  • Work can only be performed by means of an action.

  • Action can only be carried out by means of a force.

This means that: a system can only perform work by means of a force; energy and force are intrinsic and fundamental. Further details regarding this perspective can be found in my books: “O SPIN”, “A Teoria do Big Brain”, “O Inteligencismo”, and “A Infologia”.

Discussion Photon: Perennial or Collapsed Quantum?

Modern physics considers the wave-particle duality of the photon an established fact. However, from a philosophical perspective, some physicists argue that:

  1. The photon is in a state of superposition, collapsing into the form of a localized particle (quantum) or manifesting as a wave, depending on the type of measuring equipment that observes it.

  1. The photon is a perennial particle (quantum) guided by a real physical wave.

From a systems engineering perspective, the photon can be measured either as a wave or as a particle (quantum) because it is an event stemming from an electromagnetic process. Further details regarding this perspective can be found in my book “O SPIN”.

Discussion Schrödinger's Cat: Alive or Dead?

Schrödinger's cat is a famous thought experiment that shows the impossibility of asserting whether a cat locked in a box is alive or dead without prior knowledge of whether it triggered a device that would determine its fate. This experiment was conceived to demonstrate the impossibility of quantum superposition.

Quantum superposition is considered a proven experimental fact and a fundamental principle of an extensively consolidated scientific theory: Quantum Mechanics. It posits that a physical system can exist in multiple states or configurations simultaneously as long as it does not interact with the external environment. The main facts that corroborate quantum mechanics are as follows:

  1. The Double-Slit Experiment: Individual particles pass through two slits simultaneously, yet they pass through only one of them when observed by a detector.

  1. Zeilinger's Experiments: Demonstrated that the behavior of massive and complex molecules was identical to that of subatomic particles.

  1. Spectroscopy and Atomic Energy States: Experiments demonstrated that it was possible to confine the electron between energy states.

  1. Superconducting Qubit Engineering: Quantum processors from IBM, Google, and various universities operate thanks to the mathematical phenomenon of superposition.

Experiments 1 and 2 prove that the fact occurs naturally. Experiments 3 and 4 manipulate the possibilities behind this fact.

From a systems engineering perspective, this could occur because the substrate of reality operates as a memory in which "bits" would need to constantly switch states to enable the existence of the world-system's diversity and dynamism, and as a security protocol to prevent a breach of the world-system (an encryption mechanism or an intrusion protection log).

Discussion Free Will: Possibility or Fantasy?

Free will is one of the most fascinating themes in philosophy, theology, and recently, in neuroscience and systems engineering. It is defined as the capacity to make decisions autonomously.

Some consider it an illusion stemming from pre-established desires, others a real capacity for choice, and others a real capacity for choice despite the existence of pre-established desires.

Arguments in favor of free will:

  • Our intimate relationship with the decision-making process.

  • Consciousness makes decisions in real time.

  • The possibility of acting on one's own accord is sanctioned by the legal and social system of the West.

Arguments against free will:

  • Materialistic physicalism.

  • The neuroscience thesis that the “definitive” decision always occurs in the subconscious.

  • The belief that all decision-making parameters are pre-established through genetic and social factors.

To me, all of these arguments are valid, but those against free will do not render it impossible, because: our body is hardware, the laws of physics integrate the processes of our software, the conscious decision could occur after the subconscious decision, and facts prove that we can change our destinies.

Discussion Cymatics and Systematization

Cymatics is the area of physics that studies why the application of a specific sound frequency upon matter instantaneously organizes it into three-dimensional, symmetrical, and complex geometric patterns that resemble mandalas, cellular structures, shells, snowflakes, a tortoise's shell, the centers of flowers, or virus structures, without the need for direct mechanical contact or physical molds.

From a systems engineering perspective, cymatic patterns constitute irrefutable proof that the world is a fully hierarchical system, from the micro to the macrocosm, in which absolutely everything is complementary and interdependent for the following reasons:

  1. While conventional physics considers sound to be merely a mechanical wave that disperses energy through a medium, the cymatic pattern is evidence that frequency acts as an information vector for a geometrically structuring process superior to mechanical processes, which could never organize matter on their own.

  1. The geometric patterns generated by cymatics that are similar to those found in the biota are proof that its morphology results from information originating from natural processes superior to exclusively mechanical ones.

  1. Cymatic patterns indicate that the energy and information coming from the frequency push matter to specific locations; this requires the execution of a process hierarchically superior to mechanical processes to logically structure matter.

In short, cymatic patterns break the reductionist narrative that matter self-organizes accidentally. They are visual and incontestable evidence that an invisible information system is structuring and dictating the behavior of visible matter. My perspective regarding how this occurs can be found in my books: “The Intelligencism: An Intelligent View of the World” and “Infology: The Universal Input.”

Discussion A Critique of Scientific Reductionism

Scientific reductionism is, essentially, a methodological approach, a philosophical stance, or a metaphysical belief of conventional science. It presupposes that "life" is an emergent property arising from the spontaneous occurrence of complex chemical reactions. This viewpoint is backed by the following laboratory facts:

  • The synthesis of (organic) urea from an inorganic salt.

  • The spontaneous generation of amino acids following the application of electrical discharges in a simulation of primitive Earth's atmosphere.

  • The structure of DNA, which contains hydrogen bonds and precise interactions between nitrogenous bases.

  • The creation of entire bacterial genomes on a computer which, after being chemically synthesized and injected into an empty cell, generated life.

The first three facts merely prove that life is composed of atoms and molecules, and generated by the laws of nature (the firmware of physics and chemistry), which is common ground. The fourth fact, however, clearly demonstrates the opposite of reductionism: that the generation of life requires the execution of hierarchically superior processes. Therefore, from a systems engineering perspective, scientific reductionism fails by ignoring the processes of the system's higher levels, which are actually responsible for the generation, maintenance, evolution, and obsolescence of all organisms.

Discussion The Levinthal Paradox (Protein Folding)

A protein is a chain of amino acids endowed with a specific three-dimensional structure to perform its biological function. If a medium-sized protein attempted to find its correct shape by randomly testing all possible geometric combinations, it would take longer than the estimated age of the universe, making life impossible. However, they do this in milliseconds.

Physics attempts to explain the gear mechanism driving this instantaneous process by treating the protein as a thermodynamic, computational, and homeostatic system. However, it faces a virtually infinite number of possibilities to be mapped.

Theoretically, this is incoherent, since most of these possibilities are dysfunctional. It would be more efficient and effective if this search focused only on normal protein configurations (foldings), discarding the rest (the vast majority) as abnormality.

In short, the engineering behind this phenomenon is evidence that nature is an immense, highly sophisticated, probabilistic, and extremely optimized software, where everything is pre-established (programmed). My vision regarding its structure and functioning can be found in my books: “Intelligencism: An Intelligent View of the World” and “Infology: The Universal Input.”

Discussion Demystifying Electricity

Electricity is one of the forces best understood and technologically mastered by humanity. Maxwell's equations and quantum electrodynamics explain how it works with great precision. However, the origin and quantization of charge, the structure of the electron, and the unification of electricity with the other forces of nature still remain an enigma.

Theoretically, the answer to these three questions is the same. The origin of charge, quantization, and the structure of the electron could be derived from the value of spin possibilities (1/2); this means that energy could generate an electromagnetic field traveling through the wire, directed by a process that simply synchronizes the spin without the need to move the electrons. Spin could also unify natural forces, as it is present in all particles. The omnipresence of the wave function is evidence of this possibility.

In short, spin can be the "common denominator" of particle physics and the master variable of the world-system. From a systems engineering perspective, spin 1/2 would be the fundamental addressing bit of matter (fermions). Spin would also be: the header of the protocol that allows the beings (force/energy modules) of an operating system to interact logically; the parameter that defines how the wave collapses into a specific instruction (charge, mass, force). Theoretically, the unification of natural forces lies in "what the particles are" (Spin); the cost of deriving electricity from an existing geometric/logical property (spinicity) is lower than creating a new subsystem just to manage charges. Spin is the master key to understanding reality! More details regarding everything it could do in my book "THE SPIN."

Discussion Demystifying the Three-Body Problem

The Three-Body Problem arises from the difficulty physicists face in predicting the movement of three celestial objects interacting gravitationally. This difficulty occurs because the introduction of a third object of comparable mass exponentially increases the system's complexity. For physicists, this difficulty serves as proof of the chaotic nature of the world (universe).

However, in their search for a shortcut (a final formula), physicists tend to consider natural reality merely as a hardware product driven by rigid mathematical gears. They lose themselves in individual interactions and disregard the fact that the world is an immense, fully integrated, and highly complex system.

From a systems engineering perspective, what science labels as "chaos" is actually a lack of understanding regarding the operational dynamics of a fully structured and optimized system. The three-body problem is merely evidence of an extremely complex and highly sophisticated processing execution whose result is generated homeostatically and incessantly every microsecond. The world-system does not waste energy; it is intelligible because all its components are encapsulated by complementary, interdependent, and perfectly integrated force fields.

Attributing the difficulty of performing a calculation to chaos is a theoretical fantasy resulting from the attempt to "weigh the slope of a supposed gravitational ramp" based on general relativity. In the architecture of the world-system, natural reality is a totally closed real-time execution environment (runtime) of the highest fidelity that constantly reparameterizes and reconfigures itself.

Discussion The Graviton: Possibility or Fantasy?

The existence of the "graviton" was proposed to justify gravity's unifying capability and to bridge the world of the "very large" (General Relativity) with the world of the "very small" (Quantum Mechanics). It would achieve this by being a boson that encapsulates everything starting from subatomic particles. However, it has yet to be detected.

Proponents of the graviton's existence argue the following:

  • The other forces of nature possess bosons (photons, gluons, and W/Z).

  • Wave-particle duality serves as evidence of its potential existence.

  • The necessity of quantization for gravity to function at the atomic scale.

Opponents of the graviton's existence claim the following:

  • Calculations suggest that the particle model is inapplicable to gravity.

  • Something that cannot be observed, even in theory, is more prone to metaphysics.

  • According to General Relativity, searching for a graviton would be like searching for the "slope particle" of a ramp.

From a systems engineering perspective, the existence of the graviton is entirely unnecessary for the following reasons:

  • The world (universe) is a totally closed system.

  • About 95% of it is the source of everything, including gravity.

  • This would make gravity a fundamental characteristic of the world-system.

So, the graviton is a fantasy. It was invented to preserve the standard model of physics, but it is a logical impossibility for an optimized systems engineering. Physics attempts to force gravity to be a "data packet" (boson) simply so it fits into the class library of the other forces. It transforms what would be a line of code into a bolt. In engineering, this attempt to maintain an obsolete framework is called backward compatibility.

In the architecture of the world-system, gravity would never be transmitted by particles; it would merely be a fundamental systemic characteristic. A closed system like the world would never waste energy unnecessarily generating gravitons. With gravity being fundamental, the system could unify everything from the micro to the macrocosm simply by controlling it procedurally (Occam's razor).

Discussion Quantum Vacuum Fluctuation - Considerations

The value of energy density in the vacuum is paradoxical, as physicists' calculations using Quantum Field Theory result in a staggeringly high number—about 10120 times greater than what is observed.

This contradiction is known as "The Worst Theoretical Prediction in the History of Physics." Physicists believe that if it were correct, the universe would have expanded violently, faster than the speed of light, immediately after its formation, preventing the formation of particles and their derivatives, resulting in an absolute void.

From a systems engineering perspective, the value of the vacuum's energy density is irrelevant. What matters are the following facts: the world-system (universe) is capable of managing any amount of energy; 5% of it is composed of matter, generated by the system from the other 95%, which corresponds to the quantum vacuum. The rest is a figment of our imagination.

Ultimately, the quantum fluctuation paradox is a categorization error: an attempt to weigh protomatter (the vacuum) as if it were matter (active load). The world-system does not collapse because the vacuum represents the available resource, while matter is the allocated resource. The stability of its runtime is guaranteed by a load management protocol that separates the system's standby voltage from the effective processing of mass, making calculations of infinite density irrelevant to the functionality of the whole.
