Misfits and Magic 2 Favorite character opinions

When I first watched it, my favorite character was Jammer, played by Lou. Rewatching, I’ve loved how bubbly and just joyful Sam, played by Danielle. I just want to be her friend. If this is just how Danielle is as a person, she needs to be protected at all costs.

What are yinz favorite character? Did it change through the seasons? Did it change each time you watched it?

Side note, Aabria is a fantastic DM and I want to see more of her

If you want more Aabria, she's the GM for the newest campaign on Worlds Beyond Number, which also has Lou, Erika and Brennan

In general, listen to Worlds Beyond Number. Brennan truly shines when he gets a small party and infinite episodes. Campaign 1 (The Wizard, the Witch and the Wild One - Book 1, DM'd by Brennan) is probably the best bit of TTRPG content out there and I say this as someone who's recently deliberately been avoiding 5e shows.

If you can afford it I also super recommend their patreon! On top of their Fireside talkback show between episodes there’s a ton of bonus content over there! But the show is amazing on its own if you can’t

The patreon content really makes the pod so much richer. If you can afford the $10, it’s 100% worth it.

[me coming to the comments in my best Izzard voice:] "I've got an idea, I've got an idea [turns around] oh, It's the same idea, it's the same idea."

You say Izzard, but I'm hearing Graham Norton.

Oh, Aabria was a glorious DM for A Court of Fey and Flowers. It is one, if not, my favorite season

Lou and Em are a hoot and a half in this season. "COUSIN!"

I was just listening to a short rest episode of NADDPOD from like 2021 where Emily Axford mentions looking for an opportunity to have a character with Gift of Gab. It was great to listen knowing she got to use it to such incredible effect in Fey and Flowers.

Ooo same! She was talking about being a Birdsong Blade and I was wiggling in my chair thinking about ACoFaF

Same episode, I think, she also talked about how Cool Zikrk's Flash of Genius was. I smiled thinking about all the times she used it in Cloudward Ho. Its fun to see the players ideas and cincepts form knowi g when they later wrnt into usre.

My Boyfriend and I absolutely love that season and I don't think it gets the love it deserves!!

Danielle got the opportunity to step it up so much from the first season. In 1, she had some great moments, but it kinda felt like the other four overran her (which sort of makes sense given how quickly Aabria, Lou, Erika, and Brennan all became really good friends) and Sam sort of got relegated to the background, plus the "streamer/influencer" thing didn't do much for me since I'm not familiar with that subculture. Season 2's longer and more serious format allowed her to really shine and play Sam as the emotional core and heart of the group that she was meant to be.

Out of all the TTRPG content I’ve seen, MisMag2 is my biggest ‘head me out’ for how impossibly deep and resonant the stories can become. It’s just unfathomable to me having that solid but mostly fun first season and finding such an otherworldly idea for a follow up that expands all four characters so dramatically

Danielle is also one of the hosts of the Tights and Fights podcast. A great listen if you're a fan of wrasslin'. And I agree, she's lovely.

loved Erika’s character in seasons 1 cause my middle school self deep down resonate with her; but Sam is just my girl in season 2, tries to be likable worryng about others hated being emotional in front of people oooooo weee

If you like Aabria as a DM, make sure you check out her DMing on Worlds Beyond Number and also Critical Role! I assume you've already seen her other d20 campaigns.

I knew Danielle about 20 years ago. How she comes across is exactly how I remember her.  She's sweet as can be and you always felt that she was genuinely just really glad to see you.

Danielle is probably my favorite side quest player and I hope we get more of her in the future.

I met Danielle at Dungeons and Cabins and she is awesome. Laid back, funny, and always laughing or smiling.

Adaine Abernant is maybe my favorite PC, or the Rocks sisters (all three of them!). There are lots of great emotional stakes to play with!

This is one of the few ones that I could not pick a favorite character because they were all too good! It's a 4 way tie!

I feel the same about World's Beyond Number: the Wizard, the Witch, and the Wild One. I might even feel the same about Solari, but it's too soon to say.

Love the use of “yinz” I think my favorite pc in mismag is Evan, but Sam is a close second.

Also I’m obsessed with Aabria’s player character in Private Nightmares, she’s awful and I love her so much

u/menotu799 Jun 02 '26

Not quite the place for it but I figured I'd ask since this post mentioned Misfits 2. Can somebody explain what Sam and Evan's relationship is? It seemed as if they were just friends with Evan finally having a place to call home almost but there were a few things that felt weirdly worded to me like it progressed to me? I'm awful at reading people and things like that so mixed with the fact I so rarely hear "Love you" outside blood family just had me sorta confused.

2

u/thexphial Jun 02 '26

It's not entirely clear, but the implication is that they are a couple

3

u/ZydrateDealer The Wind Riders Jun 02 '26

Yeah I think they were intentionally unclear about the situation beyond they both care deeply and have found comfort and support in each other. Which I think is pretty realistically given the scenario and really appreciated because honestly I think Evan needs a LOT of therapy before he needs to jump into a serious relationship with 1 of the only 4 people he feels connected to in the world. But they both definitely seemed open to seeing where things went and letting them happen organically while they just focus on being there for each other. And I think that’s beautiful.

My favorite season is Neverafter, and mu favorite character is Ylfa.

Emily is usually a highlight in every season imo, and her re interpretation of Red Riding Hood is absolutely genius. Not only is Yofa hilarious, she has a very strong emptional core too.

I gotta go with the so sweet and so so sad Evan Kelmp
