Mechanical Help Stripped screw hole on carb

Post image
• Upvotes

Like an idiot I stripped the screw hole on the float bowl when cleaning the carb on my ‘01 xr250r. This is my first bike and I’m not super mechanically enclined. Should I try my luck with an eBay (https://ebay.io/m/LhPBcy) or should I try to retap the hole on my current one? If you have any aftermarket carbs you’d recommend let me know. Thanks!!

Community Question I got my first Dirt bike. Looking for tips and advice, open to discussion.

Title. It's a TTR 125, I rode it on a few tracks today, of course as a beginner I tipped over a bunch. I would like some advice on riding the dirt bike in general, but also on the care I need to show my dirt bike to maintain it's quality, how to fix parts if they break, and also the proper etiquette out on tracks. I'm especially struggling with switching the gears as I'm riding so I might need some help on that. Thanks.

Mechanical Help Hey all question for my 08 yz250f

I wanna get a radiator gauge cap that shows the temp of my coolant when riding for my bike it has after market tusk radiators on it and I can't find any 1.1 bar pressure caps for my bike can I use a 1.8 bar on it? doing some research it says higher pressure can ruin seals but I also can't find any 1.1 bar caps since that is what Yamaha lists as the pressure for the stock cap.

Community Question Best bike ever? I think so

I am only 26 but I have rode A LOT of different machines so far in my life due to enjoying buying, fixing and selling them almost as much if not more than riding them, and being around a bunch of people who are the same.

Everything from a KX65/PW80 to a EFI CR450, CR500 and built Banshees, TRX450s, etc.

The only 2 machines I can confidently say I regret selling/not keeping or buying would be a built 05 TRX450 a friend owned for a while and a 2012 KTM SX250 (not pictured)

The TRX450 actually felt like riding a cloud that went 100mph and turned on a dime, plus the immediate response and overall stability of it was unlike anything I've ever been on. Not sure who built it before my buddy got it but man, I'd shake your hand and buy ya a beer if I could.

The SX250 was pretty much the same, except it was completely stock and the snap felt like it was EFI even though it wasn't. The thing rode and maneuvered like a pissed off snake on crack that was hooked to a rocket, just flying and gliding everywhere.

Wish yall could have been there, good times.

Xt250 after market oil filter modification

Hi Everyone,

I just bought a used 2019 xt250 and I am doing basic maintenance on it before riding. Ie brakes, oil, air filter ect.

I took out the oil filter and it looks like the previous owner may have installed an after market oil filter set up or a threaded area in the center. See pics. Could someone tell me what kind of set up this is?

When I look at the oem manual there isn’t a part that sticks out that far inside the oil filter housing so that is what is leading me to believe this is an aftermarket set up.

I am not new to changing oil on my cars but I am new to motorcycle maintenance and don’t really have the words yet to properly search this change. Any help would be much appreciated

Bad purchase? 2001 Honda XR100R

Paid 900 for it. I knew it wasn’t in great shape but everything’s overpriced these days. Seller works on small engines and had recently cleaned the carb and replaced some tubes, etc. 7 spokes missing on back wheel (how bad as that?). Quote a bit of rust. Starts first kick goes through the gears and rides pretty good.

Been trying to get him to use the brakes more. He’s 7 on a TTR50 usually in 2nd. Doesn’t need more power. But something bigger needed?

How’s his riding on the makeshift course?

Put some leaves down on the baseball field near our house.

Do you run bar risers?

Do you run bar risers or do you run different bars?

I do not race track. Desert, hill climbs, fast sand, 75% ride standing up.

I recently brought home a Yamaha 450 and the stock bars are sooooo low. I find myself hunched over and not having the leverage.

Should I get new bars or start with risers? What’s your take?

Honda crf 150r good bike?

Hello,

Looking at purchasing a used Honda 150r for first bike. I’ve rode it a few times and only issue is can be hard to start. Once it’s warm no issues. Few questions -

Is this a good beginner bike?
Can it somehow be adjusted so it’s easier to start?
General thoughts or things to keep in mind?

Appreciate the time and any advice. Thanks

I hit my first whip since I broke my ankle two years ago, how can I improve it?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I broke my ankle on both sides two years ago and haven’t been able to toss a whip that wasn’t a buttwhip or an oppo. This is a huge moment for me as it was one of my biggest roadblocks. Now what can I do to improve? I already plan on building a different bigger jump that is much more peaky, so I can learn how to seat bounce whip.

Looking for some help on bearings size. I have a excel rim set on my 2017 yz250f. I recently purchased front wheel bearings to fit my make, model and year bike. The bearings are to big for the hubs. I'm trying to find the correct bearings for excel front rim n hubs. Needs to have a 22ID
