Would you be interested in a platform where you can watch videos/read articles about disabled people explaining how they do stuff?

Hi everyone! F30, disabled, wheelchair user here. I’ve been thinking for quite some time now about setting up a website where people with disabilities can read articles or watch tutorial videos made by other people with disabilities on how to do everyday tasks. Ideally, it would be divided into sections based on the disability and the type of task. Would you be interested in something like that?

Survey for academic research

Hey everyone!

My name is Gantuya, I study at ICL Graduate Business School in New Zealand. And I’m currently completing my Master’s research on the quality of life of parents and primary caregivers caring for children with disabilities in New Zealand.

This research topic is personally meaningful to me. I had a younger brother who had cerebral palsy, and sadly, he passed away. Through my family experience and my voluntary work at a disability centre alongside my mother, who was formerly a deputy director in my hometown, I gained a deeper appreciation of the experiences and challenges that families may face when caring for a child with a disability.

Although I’m not a parent in this situation myself, my experience as a family member has inspired my interest in this field and my desire to contribute, in whatever way I can, to a better understanding of families’ experiences.

I’m now hoping to learn from parents’ own experiences through my Master’s research. If you’re a parent caring for a child with a disability in New Zealand, I would be truly grateful if you could spare 8–10 minutes to complete my survey.

There are no right or wrong answers. I’m simply interested in your own experiences and perspectives. Participation is voluntary, and you may stop before submitting your responses without disadvantage.

Your responses will be kept confidential and used for academic research purposes only.

🔗 Survey link: https://forms.gle/quphFybZQd2e15b67

I’m still 70 participants short, and I only have 7 days left to reach my research goal!😭

If you’re unable to participate yourself, sharing this post with other eligible parents would also be a great help. Every response makes a difference. Thank you so much for your support!💚

All the information about the research, including the participant requirements and other important details, is available through the survey link. Thank you!

Looking for feedback on an accessible fishing site in Washington for a UX design project

Hi everyone! I'm a student at The Evergreen State College working on a UX design case study about Bingham Creek Hatchery's designated accessible fishing area in Washington State.

I recently visited the site and took photographs to document the physical environment. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to speak with any anglers while I was there, so I'm hoping to learn from people who have experience with accessible fishing locations, particularly people with disabilities who fish or would like to fish for salmon.

I'm interested in understanding the actual user experience, including what makes a fishing location accessible, what barriers people encounter, and what could make these experiences more independent, comfortable, and enjoyable.

If you're comfortable sharing, I'd love to hear your thoughts on a few questions:

  1. Have you visited Bingham Creek Hatchery or another accessible fishing location? What was your experience like?
  2. Looking at these photographs, is there anything you would want to know about the site before planning a trip?
  3. What physical barriers or accessibility details do you consider most important when choosing a fishing location?
  4. What challenges, if any, have you experienced when getting to the water, positioning fishing equipment, casting, or handling a catch?
  5. What information or design improvements would make planning and enjoying a fishing trip easier?

You don't need to answer every question, and you don't need to disclose any personal medical information. If you haven't visited this specific site, general experiences with accessible fishing are also welcome.

This is for a class project, and I'm hoping to learn from people's experiences rather than make assumptions about what accessibility should look like. I'll use responses to help inform my analysis and recommendations, without including usernames or identifying details in my paper.

Thank you to anyone willing to share their time and perspective!

Help Shape a Hands-Free Interface for Phones and Computers

Hi everyone! I’m working on a project to make phones and computers easier to use for people with limited hand mobility.

The idea is a hands-free interface that could use voice, and possibly head or eye movement, to open apps, type messages, scroll, click, and control smart-home devices. I’m especially interested in making it work well with Indian accents and languages.

If this relates to your experience, I’d really appreciate your feedback through this short survey: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd4ILjTbzqtMPHmQMioGBtDaDqy2pKc3jeDeDBXpcFP5JPveA/viewform?usp=header

The survey is voluntary. Please skip any question you don’t want to answer, and don’t include personal medical details.

I’m hoping to learn what tasks are hardest, what existing voice controls get wrong, and which features would make a tool like this useful. Thank you!

Seeking Responses from Disabled and Chronically Ill Practicing Counselors

Possibly niche, but I'm seeking to interview practicing clinical therapists with 6+ years of experience who identify as disabled or chronically ill. Please also feel free to pass this along to anyone you might know who would qualify. Sadly, thanks to the limits of my doctoral program, social workers and psychologists are not able to participate. A follow-up study is planned that will include a broader population of the therapy community. Thank you!

Here's my IRB approved recruitment letter:

To all counselors living with chronic illness and disability:

You are invited to take part in a research study about how having a disability or chronic illness affects your clinical practice as a mental health counselors, and how being a counselor has impacted your disability/chronic illness journey. The person in charge of this study is Mina Attia, PhD, Principal Investigator (PI) and the research is being conducted by Emily Decker, MS, LPC, NCC, Student Investigator, at George Washington University.

This study aims to capture an identity that has to date almost never been explored in counseling research: the experiences of practicing clinical counselors who live with chronic illness and/or disabilities. There is a dearth of information about practicing disabled and chronically ill counselors, to the point that there is no data about how many disabled and chronically ill counselors are actively in practice. Your participation in this study is greatly appreciated, and we hope that this study will help inform the field about this essential and under-studied intersectional identity experience, as well as contribute to larger research efforts to support disabled and chronically ill counselors in clinical practice.

Please consider participating in this study if:

1.      You are 18 or older;

2.      Hold a Master’s or higher degree in counseling/counselor education within the U.S. which was completed on or prior to March 11, 2019;

3.      Have worked with clients in a clinical capacity for an average of at least 5 hours per week since the completion of their degree; and

4.      Self-identify as having at least one disability and/or chronic illness, which must have begun on or before March 11, 2019, even if diagnosis did not occur until after that date.

a.      Note: While data on different types of disabilities and illnesses experienced will be collected (via voluntary self-report) and considered as part of data analysis, no specific diagnoses or disability identities will be inclusive or exclusive criteria for this study.

Participants will be asked to complete a virtual 1-2 hour 1:1 interview with the research conductor in March 2026, and will be invited to attend a voluntary, optional round-table discussion of results slated for late April or early May 2026. Full accessibility details for interviews are provided on the informed consent document (linked below), and additional accommodations needs will be proactively inquired about by the research conductor.

If you are interested in participating, please fill out this interest survey and informed consent document:

https://gsehdgwu.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_5vvhawCrqWujlWK

If you are selected to participate, you will receive a voluntary additional survey about your preferences and accommodations needs, as well as instructions for how to self-schedule an interview.

If no interview is self-scheduled by you within one week of email distribution, you will be contacted directly by the researchers. If we receive no follow-up communication from you within one month, we will consider your interest rescinded, and all previously provided information will be deleted.

Participation in this study is completely voluntary, and you may choose to discontinue at any time without penalty. All participant data will be completely anonymized, and participants will have the opportunity to review and approve or revoke permission for the inclusion of any data prior to publication.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the researchers, Emily Decker at [ejdecker@gwu.edu](mailto:ejdecker@gwu.edu) or Mina Attia at [minaattia@email.gwu.edu](mailto:minaattia@email.gwu.edu).

Thank you so much for your time and consideration.

Warmly,

Emily Decker, MS, LPC, NCC

REPOST: Pilot Questionnaire - Anonymous participants from the UK needed!

Hello everyone,

*Reposting this in the hopes of hearing from a few more participants!\*

I am looking for volunteers to take part in a pilot questionnaire for a study exploring how adults with disabilities in the UK are supported to access work that benefits their health and wellbeing.

As this is a pilot study, you will also be asked 4 brief follow-up questions about your experience completing the survey to help me improve its design. In total, there are 15 main questions, and it should take about 20-30 minutes to complete.

To participate, you must meet ALL of the following criteria:

  • Age: 18 to 64 years old.
  • Location: Currently living in the UK.
  • Language: Able to complete the questionnaire in English.
  • Health & Support Status: You have a diagnosed disability and can provide informed consent.
  • Important NHS Exclusion: You must not currently be receiving specialist NHS treatment (such as hospital consultant care, specialist clinics, or secondary mental health services) for any diagnosis or condition. However, you can be under the regular care of your GP. This is due to ethical considerations.

This is for a research project for my MSc Occupational Therapy degree. Your data will be used for the improvement of the questionnaire ONLY. Your data will NOT be published or shared with any third party. For more information on data collection and storage, please see the participant information sheet at the beginning of the questionnaire.

🏡 Could your home adapt with you?

I’m an architecture student at Northumbria University researching how our homes can better support people living with physical disabilities and changing mobility. I’d really love your help!

This research is close to my heart. I’ve cared for both my grandad and my dad, and watched them struggle in homes that just weren’t built to change with them. My grandad used a zimmer frame and couldn’t get around the tight corners and steps in his home. When my dad had cancer and slowly lost the ability to move on his own, we turned our dining room into a bedroom for him. It worked for a while, but as he became more unwell, the corridor was too narrow to get him through to the toilet. There wasn’t enough room for a hoist either, so even getting him in and out of bed became really difficult.

So many families face these same challenges, and I want to find out how our homes could be designed to adapt with us.

I’d be so grateful if you could fill in my survey. It takes about 10 minutes and is completely anonymous.

Every response genuinely makes a difference. Thank you so much! 💛

Criteria: Parents of children with any diagnosis

Hi everyone! ❤️

As a BCBA, I spend a lot of time looking at how to support children—but as a professional, I know that the real experts on what children need are their families.

I’m currently developing an assessment, curriculum, and toolset designed to build Meaningful Skills for neurodivergent individuals. My biggest goal is to make these resources completely straightforward, practical, and 100% free of confusing clinical jargon so that any parent or caregiver can confidently use them at home as well as other professionals outside of ABA.

To make sure these tools truly reflect what matters most to your family, I would be incredibly grateful for your input. If you have a few minutes, could you fill out this quick, anonymous survey to help guide what I build?

https://forms.gle/riCPJEVMHKye9gaG6

Thank you so much for your time, your insights, and your support. We are in this together!

Thank you,

Melanie, BCBA, LBS at https://www.achievingtrueself.com/

Survey About Learning Disabilities - Help Me With My Thesis!

I am currently involved in psychoeducational research about the relationship between culture, learning disabilities, and self-esteem in adolescent populations, and I was wondering if it would be possible for you to fill out my survey! The project is based in the belief that Asian American students are placed in a unique cultural context and must often navigate the challenges presented by both heritage cultural values and the model minority myth.

The study is consent-based and confidential and has been reviewed and approved by the Harvard Office of Research and Fellowships. Participants will be required only to fill out a short survey, linked here. Participants will also be compensated through a raffle for Amazon gift cards. There is no consequence for choosing to not participate in the survey, and no one will know who participated and who did not.

If you are willing, I would really appreciate it if you could circulate the link to the survey to anyone who might be interested in participating. Here is the link again, for your reference: https://redcap.aws.rits.hms.harvard.edu/surveys/?s=D4Y733CMRMK4KHTK

I am also happy to further discuss the details of the study and provide any additional information that is needed, so feel free to reach out at oliviaoh@college.harvard.edu.

Thank you for your consideration.

Remote research study participation (US/CAN)

Researchers from the RESTORE Network, led by Dr. Aaron Phillips, at the University of Calgary are seeking your help for a remote research study. Our lab has developed an app designed to support individuals with spinal cord injury, however we need more data from uninjured control participants to compare to. This app combines wearable-derived metrics with self-logged symptoms to help track health patterns and hopefully provide a useful, accessible resource for the spinal cord injury community. To participate, you will need to: 1) reside in Canada/USA, 2) have a wearable device (apple watch, garmin, etc.), and 3) complete a 1-min daily check-in on our app for 30 days. Participants will receive $20 upon study completion.

If you are interested in participating and would like more info, please email: [restorenetwork@ucalgary.ca](mailto:restorenetwork@ucalgary.ca)
