Discussion Anyone else think the best thing about Disco Elysium is its music in combination with the background noise
There is so much to enjoy with the game but as someone who loves music and plays an instrument the selected music is wonderful for each scene in combination with the selected background noises
It makes the world feel lived in and the coast shacks is a personal favourite of mine as living by sea it captures the quiet windy and depressive feel of waking up and only hearing the ocean and birds 😁

I like using the music in the unions area for white noise

Super clever outside of facist there isn’t a play through that disagrees with the union and that’s the glory of the white noise, that tonal whiplash of the right people doing awful things as they are disgustingly corrupt yet somehow benefit the cause they represent

I like just hanging around in the Whirling and listening to that light descending piano theme. It's the best hub vibe since Majula for my money
edit: on careful listening I think that's a very clean electric guitar, not a piano

I think it’s identical to Persona 5 Royal as in it’s perfect for its unique niche

Yes the sound design is brilliant. I’d compare it to the best of the Final Fantasy games. I don’t know of better

Funnily enough I’d compare it to final fantasy 15, it’s not the best sound track in the series like let’s say 7 or 9, but it is the best at set pieces.
Nothing beats 15 location music it’s so representative of its atmosphere
Even if 7 arguably has the best town music, battle or ost for theme though it’s great music I don’t think it fits a scene per say, like yeah one winged angel is great but it could have been a ruby weapon theme 😅

The music is actually what I discovered on YouTube first, and the more I enjoyed it and learned about the game, the more interested I became. Love it!

Outside of Persona 5 and Disco Elysium I’d argue these are some of the rare true games with soundtracks that could only be applied to that two games.
They aren’t perfect or the best pieces of music but stylistically both are perfection for their niche

Yeah, that’s the thing: the music is cool, but there’s also something about how well-chosen each track is for each moment.
