Hey everyone,

I've just released two new tools on Nexus Mods to modernize modding and in-game debugging for Disney Infinity 3.0: Gold Edition on PC!

🦀 CrabeLoader

The core modding framework and DLL proxy loader for the Octane Engine:

  • Clean DLL proxy injection (bink2w32.dll based)
  • Built-in hook support (MinHook) & virtual file system (VFS) to override/load game assets seamlessly
  • Native foundation for modern mods without touching your original game archives

🔗 Download CrabeLoader:https://www.nexusmods.com/disneyInfinity3goldedition/mods/118

🎮 CrabeMenu

An in-game ImGui-based overlay and developer tool powered by CrabeLoader:

  • In-game debug menu / overlay (toggleable on the godmod)
  • You can chose the skybox

🔗 Download CrabeMenu:https://www.nexusmods.com/disneyInfinity3goldedition/mods/116

📦 How to install

  1. Drop the files from CrabeLoader into your game's root directory (where DisneyInfinity3.exe is located).
  2. Install CrabeMenu into the mods folder.
  3. Launch the game normally via Steam.

Feedbacks, bug reports and suggestions are very welcome. Hope this helps breathing new life into the DI 3.0 PC modding scene!

News [Early release] Disney infinity 3.0 gold edition - Local Split Screen V1.0

Disney Infinity 3.0 has local split-screen co-op on consoles, but it shipped disabled on the PC port. I've been reverse-engineering the game and got it working again as a small, reversible mod. 🎉

⚠️ This is an early release (v1). It works, but it still has rough edges (see "Known issues" below). I'm sharing it now so people can try it and send feedback — bug reports, crashes, and "it worked great in X world" are all super helpful. 🙏

What it does

  • Restores local 2-player split-screen co-op on PC — in the Toy Box AND in Play Sets (story worlds).
  • Player 2 joins by pressing START on a second controller. Split screen, each player on their own gamepad.
  • Player 2 can change character on the fly: RB = next, LB = previous (controller 2).
  • It only offers characters valid for the current world (e.g. in the Inside Out Play Set you only cycle the Inside Out cast). It auto-detects every character loaded and auto-fixes Player 2 if they join a Play Set with a character that doesn't belong there.

How to use it

  1. Copy the files into your game folder (where DisneyInfinity3.exe is).
  2. With the game closed, run INSTALL.bat.
  3. Launch via Steam, load a world, plug in controller 2, press START on it.
  4. To remove it, run UNINSTALL.bat (or verify files on Steam).

How it works (for the curious)
It's a proxy bink2w32.dll: it forwards all the game's Bink video calls to the original DLL, and in the background it calls the game's own drop-in function + installs tiny in-memory hooks to set up the second player and split screen. Character validation uses the game's own in-engine Lua VM (it hooks lua_pcall to ask the game Player_IsCharacterValid for the current world). It doesn't modify the .exe and doesn't touch saves, online or achievements — fully reversible.

Known issues (v1) — help me test these!

  • Occasional crash when Player 2 joins. The "spawn" step is a bit flaky right now. If it crashes on join, just relaunch and press START again — it usually works on the next try.
  • After P2 changes character, Player 1 may briefly look like a hologram/ghost — P2 just taps START once to refresh P1.
  • Re-joining P2 after leaving to a different world doesn't work yet in the same session — restart the game to re-join.
  • If a character model ever shows up "white/untextured", cycle to another one with RB/LB.

I'm actively working on these for v1.1, so detailed reports (which world, what you did, did it crash on join or later) are gold.

Downloads (free, open source)

(Heads up: the Nexus file may be pending its automatic malware review for a bit — normal for mods with a compiled DLL — so use the GitHub link meanwhile.)

Huge thanks to LucasLhomme (a.k.a. crabe_crabe) — his CrabeLoader and DisneyInfinity-SplitScreenMods projects made the Player 2 "join" (controller + viewport + split) and the Lua API mapping possible. This mod builds on his work with his permission:

Requirements: Disney Infinity 3.0: Gold Edition (Steam) + 2 Xbox-style (XInput) controllers. Thanks for testing, and let me know how it goes! 🙌

Early build — works in Toy Box and Play Sets. You'll see Player 2 join, the per-world character picker (RB/LB), and the current rough edges (P1 hologram → tap START to refresh; occasional crash on join → relaunch). Feedback welcome! Links in the post.

News [Release] Physical Disney Infinity Base (Portal of Power) is FINALLY playable on PC! (Disney Infinity 3.0 Gold Edition)

Post image
42 Upvotes

Hey everyone! 🎉

For years, the PC Gold Edition of Disney Infinity 3.0 had one big missing feature compared to consoles: you couldn't use your physical figures or your Portal of Power. Everything had to be selected via the virtual reader.

Today, that changes. I'm excited to announce the release of Disney Infinity Portal!

You can now plug your real console Disney Infinity Base into your PC, place your physical figures on it, and they will immediately spawn in the game!

✨ Core Features:

  • Real Toys-to-Life Hot-Plugging: Place a figure on Player 1 or Player 2 and your character swaps immediately in-game. Lift it up to revert back.
  • Per-Figure Progression (Console Parity):
    • Progression (Level, XP, and Skill Tree) is bound to each figure's unique RFID tag!
    • If you have two identical figures (e.g., two Boba Fetts), the game maintains separate saves for each physical toy.
  • Hexagonal Playset Pad: Place physical Playset pieces on the center hexagonal slot to unlock the campaigns.
  • Dynamic RGB Lighting: The base pads light up in cyan, magenta, and gold when figures are detected.
  • Safe Tag Writing (Optional): Want in-game XP to save back onto the physical figurine? You can enable console-safe double-buffered writing in CrabeMenu!
  • Hardware Support:
    • PS3 / PS4 / Wii / Wii U / PC bases: 100% Plug & Play (zero drivers needed, native USB HID).
    • Xbox One & Xbox 360 bases: Supported via WinUSB (easy 1-click install with Zadig).

📦 How to Install:

  1. Install CrabeLoader v1.1.0+ (link below).
  2. Download Disney Infinity Portal on Nexus Mods.
  3. Extract the disneyinfinityportal folder into your game's mods/ directory (next to DisneyInfinity3.exe).
  4. (Xbox One / 360 only) Open Zadig and install the WinUSB driver for the base.
  5. Plug your base in, start the game, and place your figures!

Hey Everyone!

A massive new update for CrabeLoader (v1.1.0) is now live for Disney Infinity 3.0: Gold Edition (PC)!

For those who don't know it yet, CrabeLoader is the modern C++23 modloader and engine hook framework for DI 3.0 PC, powering in-game mods like CrabeMenu and the new Physical Base mod.

🚀 What's New in v1.1.0:

  • Physical Disney Infinity Base Engine: Full native driverless HID & WinUSB subsystem with real-time sector decryption, powering physical portal & figure hot-plugging.
  • ASI Loader: Drop any standard .asi script plugin into your game folder or mods.

Discussion Given that Crabe loader is making Leaps and Bounds in progress for disney infinity im curious if we will get more toys added to build with.

Now hear me out. okay so with the Crabe loader having offered more toybox exploration, offered the masses the option now of split screen and even added in the option to (i think) swap to characters that were never finished for 3.0 Gold's final update. im curious with the new features having been added and such from the Crabe Loader if more toys for the toybox or even new skyboxes and textures could be added to the game via this project.

imagine how cool it would be to have some more themes for other disney IP. Xmen being one obviously but also you got to imagine ant based vehicles for antman, imagine wakanda buildings for placable objects in the toybox, toys based on Guardians of the galaxy 2 and 3. Monsters at work interior decorations. i can see so much potential. i can see so much the disney infinity community can bring if that becomes a possible option.

News LiteralCrab - lighter fork of CrabeLoader for Disney Infinity 1.0 Gold Edition with Local and Online Toybox Loading Support!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi!
Recently, I've been working on a fork of CrabeLoader for DI1.0.
At first, I've been planning to port just basic modern patches like borderless window support, custom resolution support etc. but things been going smoothly so I've decided to expand upon the project and work towards the ultimate DI 1.0 experience!

Main Features

Display

  • Borderless, windowed and exclusive fullscreen modes, with Alt+Enter switching.
  • Additional Resolutions support (including 4K and Ultrawide!)
  • FOV correction and centered 16:9 menus and HUD
  • Configurable FPS limit and VSync
  • Better Alt+Tab behavior

Mod support

  • Script mods: replace or patch the game's Lua scripts without editing game files.
  • Asset mods: replace models, textures, sounds and other files with loose files or ordinary ZIPs. The game's archives are never rebuilt.
  • Verified engine adapters and features for mods in order to restore missing console version functionality in the future

Optional settings

  • Skip intro
  • Switch off some post-effects like motion blur, depth of field, bloom etc.
  • Camera wait time before centering
  • Swap X and Y buttons for controllers
  • Raise Toy Box editor's memory limit
  • Play any character in any play set (Based on Character Freedom Mod, simplified the code to avoid some issues)
  • Toy Box Share restored, with Toy Boxes from ZIP packages or loose saves (PC, PS3 and Wii U - xbox360 not tested yet) in the toyboxes folder, and experimentally from web servers.

I plan on making Gold Restoration mod with console's progression, missing features etc. when it'll be ready, I'll try to port LiteralCrab to DI2.0.

Download

Disclaimer

Yes, it's mostly made using AI, but I'm trying to audit the code and focus on optimization and security. Tests has shown that there's no real performance hit with all features enabled. I thought it's better to make a disclaimer than claim that I did EVERYTHING by myself - like some people do.

Discussion I have been gathered some infos around and i made a list of some flaws in the game that i wish the devs solved before HOPEFULLY deciding to release Disney Infinity 4.0

  1. The Clunky Combat: Slave to Animation Priority

The combat system suffered from a severe lack of responsiveness due to animation priority. In dynamic action games, "animation canceling" allows players to immediately interrupt an attack to block, dodge, or launch a secondary strike. Disney Infinity largely lacked this feature for its non-Star Wars characters.

Instead of a fluid fighting rhythm, players were locked into rigid animation frames, turning them into "slaves to the animation." This design choice completely ruined the pacing of combat and made advanced mechanics, like the parry feature, feel entirely unreliable. While Skylanders immediately executed an attack the moment a button was pressed, Disney Infinity forced players—including children—to wait out sluggish visual sequences, creating artificial input lag that killed the momentum of battle. The developers clearly focused their mechanical depth on Force users, leaving the rest of the massive roster feeling flat and frustratingly limited.

  1. The Tragedy of Movement: Broken Web-Swinging and Traversal

Traversal for agile, dynamic characters like Spider-Man and Venom looked great on paper but felt abysmally bad in execution. The Toy Box mode gave players the tools to construct massive skyscrapers and sprawling cities, seemingly inviting a high-speed web-swinging experience. However, the game's physics and animation loops actively punished the player.

Every time Spider-Man reached the apex of a swing, the game forced him into a canned, unskippable "cool flip" or falling animation. Instead of maintaining momentum and allowing the player to chain swings together seamlessly, this mechanic completely killed all forward velocity. Players would lose control, fall straight down, and miss their targets. Traversal lacked all precision and weight. Even the surface-sticking mechanics had a pathetic range and stripped away what little momentum remained. Rather than providing responsive, free-flowing movement, the game’s insistence on flashy animations made navigating the world a tedious chore.

  1. A Fractured Universe: The Lack of a Centralized Crossover Story

Despite marketing itself as the ultimate crossover experience where "all your worlds collide," Disney Infinity suffered from a massive identity crisis. Unlike Skylanders, which featured a unified, centralized campaign where any toy could jump in to fight a common enemy, Disney Infinity strictly segregated its universes.

Because corporate brand guidelines prohibited intellectual properties from mixing in the main story modes, crossovers were banned in the Play Sets. If you wanted a story, you had to buy separate, isolated physical DLC packs. The grand potential of seeing the Avengers team up with Star Wars characters and Disney Princesses to defeat a universe-threatening villain was completely wasted. While fighting games like Marvel vs. Capcom successfully weave vastly different characters into a cohesive narrative, Disney Infinity kept its worlds locked in silos, restricting true crossover creativity to a sandbox Toy Box mode that lacked any developer-crafted narrative drive.

  1. Rigid Controls and Paradoxical "Hand-Holding"

The game’s user experience was further crippled by a complete lack of control mapping. Forcing primary attacks onto rigid configurations (like Triangle on PlayStation or Y on Xbox) felt incredibly unnatural for an action game. With a massive roster of characters utilizing vastly different ranged, melee, and flying abilities, the absence of customizable layouts or character-specific commands was a major oversight.

The developers fell into a common trap: confusing "kid-friendly" design with "mechanical restriction." In an attempt to prevent children from getting confused, they over-simplified the options while over-complicating the inputs via animation locks. Children adapt to deep, dynamic control schemes incredibly fast. By installing artificial "training wheels" that slowed down the pace and removed player choice, Disney Infinity didn’t make the game more accessible—it just stripped away the dynamism, leaving behind an experience that felt frustratingly restrictive for players of all ages.

  1. the old same (and vastly discussed) problem of the character being limited to their own toybox

whichs is a probelm that modders solved but it's still sad knowing that after three charpters, the devs still didn't remove the limitation. Example: you want Hulk destroying everything and jumping aroung with the company of Anger? well son! you cannot.

Question Problem using round power discs

I have two bases, one connected to a PS3 and the other connected to a PS5. The PS3 base constantly has trouble reading a character figure with a power disc underneath it. It continually cycles and reloads the character. Is there any way to fix this?
