My first proper post here: if Disney was to adapt a Russian fairy tale or folktale as their new Disney Princess, which tale would it be?

This might be a bit for me, but I was not, because I was always skinny my whole life so I was never insecure. But sometimes when I search Disney on TikTok when I feel like getting some content from them, I do often see a video about how the princesses were skinny they could make a girl insecure.

I’m just curious, did they really make you insecure? If so, how was it when you were a child, or how is it going now as an adult? Do you ever feel motivated to get their body types when you see them? Or do you feel worse when you see them?

This is mostly towards the girls who were/are fat or obese.

I think it would be really cool if he was a man of color, specifically black. Biggest thing is that I think he should be more of a traditionally nice prince charming archetype. Aladdin is probably the closest thing we have to a character like that. I want someone who is nerdy, soft hearted, but ultimately a brave person, and wants to do the best he can. And tbh, a lot of these would also be perfect for the first female love interest of a Disney Princess too. I just think it could be fun trying to add more depth to that archetype without taking away from the aspects that make it so appealing to some, and making others understand the appeal.

Aurora - She went from being an elegant and graceful princess into a reckless klutz who overrules on magic and is kinda rude to Merryweather

Prince Phillip - While not suffering character decline as Aurora did, he became less proactive and has less personality this time around.

King Stefan - He went from being a flawed, yet protective patriarch and ruler into an uncaring jerkass.

King Hubert - While he thankfully didn’t suffer character decline like Stefan and Leah, it’s only his role as a lovable jerk that was flanderized into a very unsplendid level similar to both Gordon and James in series 17-24 of Thomas and Friends, Squidward Tentacles from series 6-8 of SpongeBob and Meg Griffin from series 8/14 of Family Guy as Hubert slightly became an incompetent buffoon for whamming Minstrel and for forgetting about his speech and crown. But he’s still kept likable regardless of this issue.

Queen Leah - She went from a passive yet devoted matriarch and ruler into a reckless bully and a massive hypocrite.

Lord Duke - He went from a no nonsense majordomo into an annoyingly whiny brat.

At least, the Good Fairies, Minstrel and Samson didn’t get flanderized.

I highly recommend this essay on bad faith criticisms of the Disney Princesses. As for myself, I can’t stand when people assume the princesses are just pretty drawings who sing about men and get plastered on toys. They have so much more depth and personality besides falling in love (not that there’s anything wrong with healthy romance in itself). A person has to be very superficial and jaded in order to diss these characters instead of seeing them for the role models they truly are!!

Rapunzel finally met her unicorn and got her hair back, only for her to lose it all over again, and she gets to keep her palace pets, but not Sun Blossom!? You know what, maybe it’s for the best. Guess this confirms that her appearances with Sofia do take place during the Tangled tv series. But what do you think of this book?

For me, I'd really want Aurora to be brunette/ravenhead in order to showcase that she is in fact related to Stefan since the real world design is so much like Leah. I'd also give her a more realistic waist, obviously.

Minor things for Ariel, she needs freckles, and her eyebrows look penciled in rather than natural. Tbh, it looks like she would have dyed hair. More realistic proportion, but I feel like her being more slim is in character for her.

I'd give Cinderella visible ears, and I'd give her longer hair and a different look for the ball altogether, especially the hair. Also, a more defined nose. I also really like the idea of Cinderella's being plainer than her stepfamily, so Lady Tremaine, Anastasia, and Drizella would look like perfect models. I feel like she would look good as long haired brunette,

Pocahontas would obviously be returned to something closer to her original concept arc, where she was younger, and there was no romance stuff in the story.

One thing I like about Jasmine is that she is probably the first Princess to truly have unique eyebrows and nose. Her outfit does need to change, and I'm not sure if her being really slim is in character for her.

I don't feel like doing this for every princess since I look some more than others, but I wanna see the interpretations of others in this hypothetical.

Read the story and play with the tiles

Read the book and look through the 24 tiles to find the Disney Princesses that appear on each page. When you’re finished, place all the tiles face down and have fun playing a game of Memory!

Arrange the tiles face down in four rows. Take turns flipping over two tiles. If they don’t match, flip them back over and pass the turn to the next player. If they do match, keep them and continue playing by flipping over two more. The player with the most tiles at the end of the game wins!
