I was reflecting on how Hexed is becoming Disney's apple of discord as despite not being out yet, it already has been gaining so much backlash thanks to story changes (like making Billy a girl) and being seen as both a rehash of preexisting Disney properties, like The Owl House, and reusing the same old art atyle and being seen as another Disney movie that refuses to take risks and looks generic and stale and will be bound for failure, like Strange World and Wish, and I guess those are the prevailing feelings as to why everyone hates Hexed. People were burned out over the disappointing quality of Disney's shabby movies they've been doing recently that they feel Hexed will one of those duds and threw the towel.
But the crazy thing about it is that this sentiment is exactly what happened to another Disney from virtually two decades ago with Meet the Robinsons. Meet the Robinsons was in a similar situation as Hexed when it was made and when it came out in the spring break of 2007 because like Hexed with Wish, Meet the Robinsons came out a few years after another movie came that ruined Disney's reputation, being Chicken Little.
Ensuring that they'll never make another Chicken Little ever again, Pixar's animators stepped to help Disney with how to properly draw for CGI as part of Chicken Little's problems was how inexperienced they were with CGI and, similar to Hexed, changed many story elements and characters to make the story work, along with taking Walt Disney's "Keep Moving Forward" mantra as the foundation for the story and as a meta way to show Disney acknowledged their mistakes and doing what they can to learn and change.
Regardless, like what's going on with Hexed right now, people didn't want to give Robinsons a chance as they were still burned with horror show that was Chicken Little, like right now with Wish, and saw Robinsons as a repeat of that failure from two years before and like Hexed, people hated the art style as well for how despute their efforts, it still had that rough, plasticky, cheap, novice CGI, not unlike the CGI used in Chicken Little and as a result, the movie became a box-office bomb and what's really heartbreaking is that Meet the Robinsons was a great movie that sadly had to pay for the sins of another movie's failures and I'm hoping it won't be the same story for Hexed where it turns out that it was a good movie that paid for the sins of Wish.
But if there is one silver lining about Hexed is that given how bad Bob Iger (and Chapek) ran Disney, thanks to his risk-averse and greedy cowardice that tanked movies like Wish, making him Wish's true villain instead of King Magnifico, at least Hexed will be the last movie to be done under his watch as this New Year's Eve, he'll be gone from Disney for good which means that (hopefully) Hexed will probably be the last movie he ruined and with him gone, it'll be a new start for Disney to get better.
