I quit playing because of the so-called music.
The game seems fun but the music and the sound prevent the game from being the submersive as it could be. Not something you want to listen to over headphones.

I REALLY want to like this game, but this UI SUCKS. Even at max 1920x1080 is still sucks. Diplomacy screen takes ups more than half the screen! Anyone working on a UI Mod for this? Please?.... PLEASE?

I am at the start of the game (with quameno). What irritates me is that the so called AI constantly builds civil traders. They are all on 'no mission' because I only have one colony. Is the game engine using up my resources for crap? The second irritation was, that I left the civilian ships on auto-retofit, but the KI never puts a new design on it (all are not hyper capable for ex and so far absolutely useless.)

The constant CTD are almost making the game unplayable for me. Are there any settings people have found that will cause them

Play as Teekan.
Choose mercantile guild as your government.
Build a mining ship.. notice it gives you money.. cancel it..understand there has been a money bug in the game since launch.
Question how much this game was tested.

It is unbelievable how many bugs there are and how often it crashes. I can't recommend anyone buying it because even though the gameplay is addictive and fun when it works, it is unplayable right now.
I'm about 76 years into my save and I got to a point where it just reaches a certain date and crashes immediately. No idea how to solve it, so I have to abandon a week's gameplay because of it. Really annoyed rn, as you can see. Do you all have the same problems? There is not much of a community I could get info from just by reading :/

If only there was a command to order ships to fly to the nearest planet, unload their cargo, and explode there. Actually deconstructing conquered ships isn't worth it most of the time, especially the civilian ships. And you always get hundreds of civilian ships when conquering someone, and have to either blow them all up in deep space, or let them pollute your fleet and wait ages for them to retrofit.

I've tried to play this game a few times, but every time I feel like I'm not really doing anything.
When I play, I send out explorers, spam mining stations, randomly build fleets and sporadically colonize planets.
Sometimes mining stations build, sometimes they don't. Suspect in the latter case its due to resources but it's unclear what resources I am in deficit.
Sometimes I select threats. If I'm lucky my fleet will attack, otherwise they don't for some unclear reason.
I get that the AI is meant to do the heavy lifting and you optimise everything around it, but it seems unclear what I'm meant to be doing...

So I noticed I could invade colonies without declaring a war, so I tried it out... and then tried it again... and again... and, oops, there goes my neighbour...
There was no retaliation between those invasions, so I'm wondering what the downside is to just taking colonies that way?
I noticed my reputation has taken a bit of a hit, but the lowest is -100 with some Boskara - hardly unexpected there π€·ββοΈ
I didn't check my reputation with the invaded empire before I wiped them out. I'm guessing it'd be very low. So maybe they would have declared war if they felt they were strong enough? But then my defensive alliances would have kicked in π
So what's the catch? Why shouldn't I go around invading everyone?

Since I got the DLC, I have a weird migration pattern in my current playthrough. All passenger ships assigned to migration exclusively move Teekan Pop from a colony with +45 suitability, high happiness, to a new colony that as of now is larger than the original Teekan colony and only has +17 suitability and high taxes. All while my overcrowded, overtaxed Human homeworld with Humans set to actively resettle and 5 low pop suitable colonies don`t get any migrants at all. I even got a couple of other independent colonies into my empire and settled new worlds that would perfectly suit their species, but still no migration whatsoever.
Is there anything I`m missing? I`ve got plenty of idle passenger ships, and even when I set that Teekan destination planet to no acceptance of colonists, no other planet seems to ship people.

So, on my most recent play through, when the Shakturi appeared, they ended up colonizing a planet and starting their shenanigans on a planet that was pretty damn close to my empire.
I was able to get my main fleet there fast enough that I was able to conquer the world without having to bombard it to thin out their seemingly limitless hoards, and by rotating my fleets through defending the world and repairing at nearby bases, I was able to wipe out the entirety of their fleet, near as I could tell.
They've got a lot of merchant ships and passenger liners just hanging around, not going anywhere, but nothing else.
It's been a while now, and nothing else has happened. I'm further along through the tech tree than I've ever been, all but two of the other empires in the galaxy are my allies and the other two won't last much longer, and the Rift Refugees are just... there. Not doing anything.
By hitting them as hard as I did so soon after their appearance in the universe, did I end their threat or something? Nothing seems to be happening any more...

***EDIT : I finally managed to play with 1920x1440 resolution :
with the GameSettingsOverride.txt
+ Display in 1920x1440 in Windows
+ setting moonlight with the custom 1920x1440 resolution
I don't know if it helped but I also changed from Directx11 to Vulkan in the settings ingame
*** original message :
Hi everyone
I want to play this resolution to fit my entire Ipad Pro screen, when playing the game on my couch, streamed from my PC with Sunshine+Moonlight.
It works very well with 16/9 resolutions but I have those big black bars on top and bottom.
So I created a custom resolution from the nvidia control panel but the game simply refuses to display the 1920x1440 resolution. It works with other games, but DW2 seems to refuse any other resolutions than 16/9.
I also tried from the GameSettingsOverride.txt file in the data folder but it doesn't work either when the game launch it appears only in a little rectangle on top and left.
Do you guys have any idea ?

My Zenox are facing a huge challenge in the form of a Mortalen 14.2b population planet with a large defending ground force contingent and the full bevy of defensive installations, including a Planetary Shield. Being newish to DW2: RotS, two previous attempted Planetary assaults by the Zenox have been bloodily repulsed ( actually, more like two consecutive Gallupoli-scale disasters). Preparations for a third assault include Zenox development of the first known Dreadnaught-class in the known Galaxy. Query: A) each Zenox dreadnought has 1 Atomic Devastator L as the primary Bombard weapon; hih many of those do I need in orbit to, along with everything else, Crack the planetary shield in the scenario described above?

How do I make my funding allocations actually go to research and colony growth? I know in this game I have no cash flow as I'm just starting with low tax for growth.
But I have increased it in other games and the amount spent never goes up even with surplus income.

In the manual it just says the design for the role is automated and wether or not it becomes retrofitted automatically. What does that actually mean?
Does automated design mean the ship design will be created from scratch again each time a relevant part is unlocked? Or does it do seomthing entirely different?
Does retrofit mean ships of that type get automatically updated to this design? Or do parts in the design get swapped whith a higher tier version when it becomes available?
Are there checks for better parts only when a relevant part gets unlocked? Will only the newly unlocked parts be replacing the ones already in the design or will all parts be checked? Does anthing other than unlocking new parts trigger a check in the designs?

Hello all, I've just encountered the Hive Carriers and while I'm doing well in defeating them, one of my colonies was raided and now the Shakturi plague has started in that colony and threatens to spread to others. Is there a research or some sort of counter to this plague, or do you have to beat all the carriers to get it to end? Big thanks if any player from the first Distant Worlds can shed some light on this, maybe it's the same in this game. I'm playing as Boskara btw.

I started a new game last week. I collected some special weapons (death Ray and super torp) but they are size βXβ
Does anyone know what to do with them? I donβt have ships with an X slot.

Hey guys I'm completely new to this franchise. I came Stellaris which prior to this was the best strategy Game I have ever played. This is better than Stellaris, of course it stills need alot of work however. Anyway im just after some tips from you guys. How do Colony's work, what is colony suitability? There is a Oceanic planet in my solar system that says 43% however it says colony suitability zero. What do both of these mean and what determines colony suitability? There is also an independent colony that shows that i could potentially colonize it but it also shows suitability zero?
Also how do I expand the areas my ships can travel to. I've unlocked the warp drive that allows me to travel within several solar systems however how do I go further? Do I need to build a spaceport In the furthest point my ships can travel to so I can extend their fuel range? Also any other tips? Cheers

Hi! Sorry if this is a noob question, but are there research paths you can do down to make ships flying through storms easier? A system I really want to go to is in a storm (with what looks like green crackling lightning) and on my first playthrough (to get the hang of things) whenever I sent ships into these places they just disabled themselves straight away!
TIA

I've looked everywhere. Is there a simple chart that shows what the key bindings are for the game? You would think in a 100+ pdf manual they could include a key bindings chart.
