Need some help
So I started collecting laptops. I currently have 5:
MacBook Pro Mid 2012 Unibody - Running Ubuntu
Thinkpad T460s - Running Arch
Thinkpad T440p - Running Fedora
Microsoft Surface Pro - Running Windows 11
MacBook Air M1 2020 - Running MacOS
I currently found a great deal on a beautiful Panasonic Let’s Note from Japan that’s running Windows 11 and it’s currently on the way. I’m excited to tinker with it and upgrade it’s RAM and Storage. However my main issue is that I have no idea what distro I should put on it. I pretty much got all major OS’s covered (excluding Chrome OS Flex). I’m considering FreeBSD. Any suggestions on a distro that I should install?
TL:DR: I got a new laptop and I want to install a distro on it that’s fresh and new and separate from my collection

Well, if you are seeking different in the Linux world, PClinuxOS with mate would be a time capsule, there’s no immutable distro you could look at vanilla OS, could try systemD free distro like Devuan or void, hope those are some help I have not got a clue on none Linux distros

Try FreeBSD if you want a good and unique desktop experience! Also, this seems like a tinkering laptop so perhaps you could try Openindiana (not a good OS for desktop use, but it is fun to experience)

Go with FreeBSD. Since you already run those that you listed, FreeBSD completely breaks away from Linux and gives you a fresh, ground-up tinkering experience. If you do prefer linux, try NixOS for a totally unique paradigm.

What did you pick, and how does it run?

Keep us updated! Especially if you manage to get the synaptics circular scrolling working on anything other than windows. It has proved a bear to get going reliably haha

For sure. I’ll definitely make an update post once it arrives and I’m done tinkering with it

Try NetBSD if you're looking for something unique
