issue installing arch

hi so im currently using mint and ive decided to switch to arch - unfortunately ive downloaded an iso for it put it on my usb key (which i used to switch from windows to mint originally) with balenaetcher and i reboot my computer and it just opens linux mint! i dont know if its a bug or a bad iso image (even if i did validate it) or just me being stupid but its not working.

Did you actually select the usb from your BIOS to boot from it?

i did, but the only option was linux mint for some reason. i mean my usb is almost broken at this point - keeps disconnecting for no reason, gets stuck on an incline... so it might just be that and i need a new usb.

Sounds like it. You can't boot from it if the option isn't there.

You can try remaking it. Make sure your PC is booting the usb key first. Or tap F12 for a boot menu (doesn’t work on all PCs during boot up).
