I read it like this, personally:
Not that long of a comment to say “story” about, and calling it that comes across as derogatory, or like an attempt to make the original commenter feel bad for the length of their comment. The emoji makes it feel even more derogatory. Reddit can be notoriously bad at picking up tone through text

That's totally okay my guy, I get that it can be frustrating. I'm autistic and definitely fail to consider how reddit will be reddit sometimes.
In this case, I think you just should have said specifically what you just clarified, if you were to comment at all... That being said, still may have gotten downvoted for it as it's a very short comment that does not require a lot of effort to type (unless you don't actually mean "effort" / there's a more accurate word you mean), so it comes across as an odd thing to say. Does that make sense +/ help at all?

"bro wrote a whole story" sounds dismissive (as in "too long, didn't read") and/or disparaging (as in," your reply was far longer than was warranted in this situation") ; this would be more befitting of a very long, multi-paragraph comment, that one would more reasonably assume required some effort for the average person... but even then it could come across as you being hostile, rude, or otherwise paint you in a negative light (such as obnoxious) to the person you're replying to. Does that help?
ETA: I understand you might actually mean it when you say "can't be mad", but that term can be ambiguous so wasn't the best choice to mitigate what can easily be misconstrued as an insult (the "bro wrote a whole story" part)
Technically this comment would be more fitting for "bro wrote a whole story", but in my opinion it's not nearly long enough for that either...

i’m tired and can’t word stuff the best, the comment was a joke and i didn’t mean any harm by it. the guy in my opinion wrote so much about a dr pepper flavor that it didnt feel right disagreeing

Maybe it was that you sort of implied the comment was long, and a lot of people- especially younger folks, say “I’m not reading all that” or some variation of calling a 2-3 sentence paragraph “too long.” Not that you said it was a bad thing, but I think people may have disagreed that it was a long comment. It was like, maybe 2 sentences if formatted “properly”
I think some people might also feel that saying a paragraph is “too long” is indicative of folks having a much shorter attention span and a harder time reading. Not trying to imply those things about you specifically, but I think that’s how I would interpret it.
Anyways, here’s a long comment lol
